Rubio's

https://goo.gl/maps/ueEhQF27fAabxezz6Check out Rubios online before you go to make sure it’s worth the Lyft/Uber ride (your expectations and preferences). Rubios is a fast casual eatery serving traditional Baja fish tacos and other seafood and healthy options.
If if you elect not to Lyft if, you can get great Mexican food and drinks closer by to port at:
Tequila Jack's Restaurant and Cantina
407 Shoreline Village Dr, Long Beach, CA 90802
(562) 628-0454
https://goo.gl/maps/F8twqVnRFLcVmnH68Rubios fish tacos and a few cervezas always makes for a fun and easy meal. Inexpensive too.
Welcome to CA! Hopefully you enjoy the food and culture here (the weather’s pretty good too)!!!!!!!
Thank you

Rubio’s is the quintessential Baja taco. Fried fish, fresh cabbage, spicy red salsa and white sauce. Over the years Rubio’s have moved back to their original flavor and style and produce a good product. It’s fast, filling, fresh and easy to enjoy.
California pizza can is often unique with many fresh toppings and made in a wood fired oven. IMO its a massive improvement over traditional cheese and sauce pizza. We’re fans of artichokes, feta, olives, spinach, red onions and sun dried tomatoes with high quality olive oil drizzled on top.
Mexican food varies so much, I’d try and experience as much of it as you can, including Ensenada. And if you like seafood, Mexican seafood dishes are also great.
There’s a large Asian population in LB too (Filipino, Cambodian and Vietnamese).
I have a few clients in LB and there’re some great Pho shops near the port area.

Yes, but what do you want to know? Maybe this article about the various forms of taxis in Mazatlan will be useful. (“Pulmonias” is the name for the golf cart taxis.)

Has anyone used a golf cart taxi to old town area and cathedral in Mazaltan?

SDPadreFan,
That is different, that could have been because of permits, etc. I was just pointing out that in Mexico, with Mexicans, WalMart is not known as the "Evil Empire" and does have different labor practices.
WalMart also has the generic drug program, similar to the U.S.... many RX drugs are 39 Pesos or less. Not all items are available. You can purchase any NON-NARCOTIC drug without an RX in Mexico, at WalMart or any farmacia although WalMart usually has the best price.
If you do not know the Spanish name, you can google most drugs and find the English/Spanish names or at least Latin name. Be sure to write it down to show the pharmacist.
I get a generic Lasix and it is 11 Pesos for 20 tablets, so less than $1.00 US Dollar. On the other hand, band names and new drugs are often about the same price.
Can you get Voltraen gel w/o prescription

I missed it looking at deck plans.

I guess I am out of luck then, I really stuff my face on every cruise I go on.
But about KSA, check their yelp reviews. No bueno.
Ok. Funny. I gotta start checking my posts before I post

We are staying at Hampton south. They do not provide parking for cruise porkers. They recommended KSA any one have any experiences with them?

Sorry, forgot to answer the cabin question.
We were in 6203. It was a nice roomy cabin, more square than rectangle. It was really a great location for everything. If not for the noise issue it would be perfect. Ours was only a couple doors down from the stairs, so that may have been a factor. Probably halfway down that hallway would have been much better. Live and learn, right?
We will be in cabin 6207 on the Jan 25 sailing our 1st balcony. Anyone know if that will be good location. Sounds like we may need to worry about noise.

We live in Ky and are headed to Fort Lauderdale next Thursday for the Freedom 15th cruise. We were away from home and expected there so the wife called our daughter to let her know we wanted to stop at Cracker Barrel for supper. The son in law took the call and informed us he heard the Carnivel Freedom was in the Bahamas...had hit something and was listing dead in the water. That ruined our supper as we didn't think he knew the name of the ship we would be on. Since it rang as true one can imagine all the options we went thru our minds as we hurridly ate our supper. After a quick trip home we were SOOO happy to not see any news about it. I told the son in law I don't get mad I just get even.
You will have to review her upon your return. We live in western ky and are sailing on the freedom jan.25

Anybody ever been in cabin 6207 on Freedom?
-
Sorry you must have this done, but glad you are able to have it to hopefully make it so you feel better.
Two months isn't much time to recuperate, but you still should be able to get around okay, if a bit slower. I would call Carnival NOW to let them know what's happening and the timing. I would also try to get a handicap cabin if at all possible. I'm mainly thinking of that step up into the bathrooms. I hate that step, especially with my bad knees.
Just going by my oldest sister having both hips replaced a few years ago and knowing how steps were so awkward for her.
Better to be safe and have the HC cabin, than regret not getting it and needing it. I do wish you a fabulous cruise! :)
Thank you for your advice. I so want to be able to still cruise. Gives me a good focus. I will call carnival tomorrow.
-
I have just found out I wil be having hip replacement in November. I will be cruising Jan 25. Thinking I may be still moving a little slow and need a cabin with a handicap bath. Do I need to send a request to Carnival from my doctor? When I booked a cabin I did our 1st to be assigned balcony. Does anyone know how many handicap cabins there are ?
I hope I may not need one, but I do not know what to expect.
-
Spirit class has some obstructed view balconies. Fantasy class has some obstructed view junior suites. That's it for balconies on Carnival. Freedom is not in either of these classes. I believe Freedom has a couple oceanview rooms that are considered obstructed. And there are some rooms that are classified as interiors that have a window with obstructed views. But as far as balconies go on Freedom, none are obstructed.
I love your observations. I feel better THANKS
-
I am excited even more. Going on the Freedom 1/25 out of FLL before she goes to Texas.
Thanks for the review. Booked our 1st balcony only a guarantee. So we have no idea where we end up on ship. But hay on a cruise. I will be happy
-
Thank you for the info
-
We have never had a balcony cabin. We may have a guarantee balcony on a Freedom. Just wondered which cabins on what decks will be obstructed
-
DH and I are on the Freedom Jan 25. We only do inside cabins, this time we did move up to Lido deck. Any thought on staying on that deck ?
