Are those ones that include the medical "proctored" (witnessed) testing?  A self test not medically observed & documented does not satisfy the CDC/Cruiseline pre-testing requirement.

They need to say RX on the lower left of the box.  The others that are not approved by the CDC for Cruiseline testing  say OTC.

Make sure that they say RX only on them. And have them medically proctored. (witnessed)   Google some youtube videos on how to use them prior to use to minimize any mistakes.

With all due respect it sounds like Princess was simply following the terms of your booking.  The fact that you chose to wait until the last minute to cancel was your choice and not wise in this era of shaky customer service (try calling an airline).  Using a decent cruise/travel agent not only avoids the hassles with waiting on hold, but will generally save you money if you actually do cruise.

    Hank

With all do respect Hank, The OP was simply following the terms of their  booking.   It is not the OP's fault that Princess has chosen to have fewer people available to answer the phones during normal business hours.  It's a business decision that Princess management has made.  The OP did call and try to cancel during the timeframe per the booking contract.

Would it be fair for Princess to not answer the phones for a day, and say, "sorry that you couldn't get through" but still charge a penalty?  How about two days?  maybe three?

OP made a good faith effort to cancel, Princess did not hold up their end of the contract by not answering the phone.

I agree that using a TA may make cancelling easier, but that is a personal choice and shouldn't be made just to be able to cancel a booking.

May 20th will be the date I start the chargeback. I am sad it has come to this as I have always supported Princess but this is way beyond unreasonable.

I'm curious, why wait until the 20th?  Seriously curious.  You know that you can cancel a chargeback if you get your refund from Princess?  All you are doing is giving them more and more time to pay your refund.  You may run out of time.

Wrong....you should be though.  They have promised you your money back, but you aren’t giving them the time to follow through.  Do you know how many people they are dealing with, and with a reduced staff? Give them a break...but my agency may not allow us to do business with clients who do this.  It takes away any protected commission and technically the supplier(cruiseline) could come after us for payment.  It’s a huge headache for people who can’t be understanding and patient.

Well, I'll tell you what.  You can write me a check for my cancelled cruise, and when, and if, I get a refund from Princess, I will give you back your money.  That way you can protect your commission.  Until then, I am going to use the consumer protection laws that I can.

If your agency will not allow me to use their service because I used the available legal remedy to protect my money, then so be it.  I really don't want to use your services.

The airline in question has only posted a notice on their website.  It is not possible to get through to a person.  The third party website only emailed me (automated email) after waiting more than three weeks.  They only wanted me to respond with a “yes” to the voucher.  If my response is “no”, which it was, they don’t want to hear from me.  They will send the refund when they get around to it.

I hope that everyone’s refunds get processed.  (I’m supposed to be working from home right now, so I better get back to work.  It’s too easy to get distracted.)

You do realize that Canada has different Consumer Laws than what the USA has?  The DOT here in the USA has stated that the airlines must give a monetary refund for the canceled flights.  However, I don't know what Canada has in place that compares to the DOT.  (DOT = Department of Transportation)

Same goes for credit card protections.  Each country will have their own laws on what the consumer can do.

I agree.....been around too long to know that no one is too big to fail....there have been plenty of major airlines and other businesses go down in my time which were worth way more then CCL.  I have accepted the fact they are probably going to have to go into bankruptcy reorganization and the passengers they owe money too will end up with nothing....The Love Boat will be no more.....

This is the most honest, non emotional response I have read.  I agree 100%.

  7. We were on the Royal last month and played Bingo on the last day before the end of the cruise.  Cost was $45.00 for the minimum package.   We are currently on the Royal again, and it's the last day before the end of the cruise.  Went to play bingo (and played) and was shocked that the minimum package now cost $69.00.  This is for the tablets.  Paper boards cost the same as the tablets.

Not sure that it is worth it to play anymore.   Four games for $69.00.   OUCH!!!!

I realize this is just one person's opinion, but I know we will not be playing anymore at that price.  Hopefully it is just a trial price adjustment.

  8. We were offered this exact offer this past summer on an Alaskan Cruise.  There were six couples that we sailed with, and only 4 couples were offered this "move down" offer.    We took it!  noone else did.  We received  a great inside room, and all of our cruise fare  was reimbursable OBC.   We did not use it all, and we received a check a few weeks later for the remaining OBC that we did not use.  I would gladly do it again!   Free Cruise!!!!    Side note, we have sailed the Alaska cruises at leat 7 times, and we had never been offered this before.  I would do it again.

  9. I, too, was trying to stream from a home server.  It would not stream.  It just locked up.  Worked fine yesterday before we sailed.  I had tried it on the WiFi before we left.  I think that maybe with everyone using the WiFi now, there isn’t enough bandwidth.  I am sure there were more than just me trying to stream other football games other than what was being shown onboard.

You Did not compare the east coast to the west coast.  You only showed west coast avg is 50 per day.  What is the east coast avg?

Here are a few examples from Florida:

    Regal Princess sailing on Dec. 1, 2019.  7 Days, 4 Ports, $173.20

    Crown Princess sailing on Dec. 17, 2019.  10 Days, 6 Ports, $160.21

    Crown Princess sailing on Jan 26, 2020.   10 Days, 6 Ports, $135.00

    Caribbean Princess sailing on Feb 02, 2020.  14 Day, 8 Ports, $150.00

I did not bring up sailing to the Panama Canal.  Those fees are high, but it's because of going through the locks.  High for sailing from either coast.

Princess doesn't want it; the ports do, right?

    Pooh

Someone correct me if I am wrong, But I thought that Princess negoiates with the port for the cost of their services, (port Fees).  Remember Houston a few years ago.  The Port of Houston practically gave away everything to have them come and use that port.  Even in the end, it didn't work out for Princess at that port.

  13. Has anyone else noticed that the Port Fees for sailing on the west coast are getting a little expensive?

An example is Jan 12 , 2020 sailing of the Grand Princess.  10 days,Mexican cruise, 4 ports.  $205.00

    27 Jan., 2020 Grand sailing 15 days to Hawaii.  5 ports $250.00

Dec 9, 2019 sailing of the Royal Princess to Cabo. 5 days,  1 port, $104.73

    April 7, 2020.  Star Princess sailing a California Coastal.  7 Days, 4 ports, $220.70.

I'll have to start sailing more out of Florida!

  14. Here is a copy of some paperwork that was in our cabin on embarkation day for an Alaska Cruise on the Star in late August.

Read the bootom where it claims that the gratuities are spread throughout the fleet.  Doesn't mean it is, but it's what the Star Princess has said in August.

Had to call room service to ask where my mini bar setup was. I was informed that I could NOT substitute the liquor minis. But apparently I will be getting the full complement of 8, unlike previous 1-day voyages.

They told me that they were out of the mini bottles and we would not get anything.  No sodas or beers.    Here’s a picture of the lunch dining room while we were waiting in line. It took 55 minutes in line.  They also closed the doors on the waiting people and told them to go to the buffet.   I was really surprised and even embarrassed 😞
