  1. We are departing from Miami and will not have a car. Would love a hotel near restaurnts/shopping. Loved leaving from Fort Lauderdale and stayed at the Riverside. Wonderful shopping/restaurants. Great walking area. Anything like that in Miami for a pre cruise stay that is not outrageously priced?

We have booked at the InterContinental Hotel downtown Miami, they are close to Bayside Market Place and you can also request a room overlooking the Port of Miami. Check into it.

  2. I was wondering about transportation options from the Port of Miami to Miami International Airport. Did anyone use MSC transfer? Or other shuttle services? Cabs? It will be the three of us (two adults and a 7 year old child).

We are staying at the Inter Continental Hotel and they have recommended DavEl Transportation Service for pick up from the airport to hotel then from Hotel to Port and then back to Airport. Helen is the agent at the Hotel and I am sure she can book their service even if not stay at the Hotel.

  3. I usually cruise on Princess, I will be traveling as a solo on MSC for the first time January 19 on the Divina leaving from Miami for a 10 day to the Caribbean. Does MSC have a shuttle to and from the pier as Princess does?

Can anyone recommend a hotel in Miami that is close to the pier or airport? They web cite is not very helpful an seems to have a lot of tech problems.

    Thank you

    Diana

We booked at the Inter Continental Miami close to the port and shopping.

    Congrats

  5. If you're in Yacht Club you're in Yacht Club. All perks included because they're all within the YC area - lounge, bar, pool, spa access. Aurea perks are different beause you'd be in the general ship area for everything.

That isn't what their site says, go into frequently ask questions then to upgrades

  6. the previous poster was just making fun - as you posted you were going in:

    20017

    not 2017

hence the time machine and fortune...

    i personally found it funny:)

I am so embarrassed my fingers got going to fast I guess

  7. As someone who has sailed on a LOT of cruises out of Miami, I always watch in frustration as people recommend and choose hotels in downtown Miami.

It really is like sailing out of New York and staying in Brooklyn. It's nice but it's not Manhattan!

Go on TripAdvisor and stay in South Beach ... there's tons of nightlife, great restaurants, a wonderful beach and fabulous people watching. It's a simple 15 minute cab ride to the pier in the morning, especially with the new tunnel.

Thats where we always stay so wanted something a little different, I want to go to Bay Side Market place this time. I am bi no means frustrated I just wanted to ask the best Hotel in that area I do what a view of the port and things to do within walking distance of the Hotel. Currently looking at the Intercontinental one bedroom suite has any one stay in one of those rooms are they nice.

  8. I could be wrong, but my understanding is that the information being discussed was from an article from Italy, not an official MSC press release (and certainly not MSC USA). Some of the people in my group are thinking the article may have defaulted to Nassau as a substitute, not thinking or realizing some cruises already call on Nassau. Replacing Ocean Cay would be much easier with a port currently used by MSC which could include St. Marteen, Dominican Republic, Tucks & Caicos ... or perhaps Haiti or Cuba. Any thoughts?

I agree Cuba would be a great place as a substitute.

  9. My personal opinion is the YC should be adults only, I know I here flack regarding this but all the activities for kids are located on the other deck's where there are more children. If I were a child were there is primary adults I would be bored to death.

  10. Some do but ours faced the city. It is very easy to see the ships from the pool deck. In addition to the extra room for your son, they have a great club lounge with afternoon snacks and drinks as well as a full breakfast in the morning.

I think I was given misinformationI was told yesterday by the hotel we were on the 30 or higher floor. What floor is the concierge floor, thats the florae will be on.

  11. If you can swing it, get a suite on the club floor of the Intercontinental. They are wonderful.

I took your advice and booked at the Intercontinental in the Executive King Suite did you have a view of the port? I did request that, we are on the 19th floor is that where you were? Thanks for the advice I did book at the Hilton Downtown but after reading you review I switched.

  12. I have to be honest. I was torn between changing our suite to YC for impeccable service, privacy, less people and definitely no children. Sooooo many posts lately about kids in the YC and I am very glad I did not pay the extra $$$ for it. I may be a rarity, and I am truly sorry...I have children and grandchildren, but I envisioned "grown ups only" in the YC. Glad I did not spend the extra $$$.

I agree with you children should not be allowed in the YC

  13. Don't believe that is true. No special seating for YC guests in the theatre. I'm sure your butler would be happy to escort you to the shows but there is really no need...it is quite easy to get there and back on your own. As for getting you out quickly during the mass exit...won't happen. You will use the same elevators as everyone else so there is no 'quick' way to get back to the YC.

I realize there is no special area for the YC but I was told if we pick out our seats they would make sure they are saved for us.

  14. They will if asked. Why would you want them to do so? There are no reserved seats/areas in the theatre for YC like for suite pax on other lines.

I was told by our MSC representative they will hold seats in the theater that you have requested, also they will escort you there and also be their when the show is over to escort you back to the YC to avoid the mass exit from the show to get you to the lift.
