  1. All I can say is for us piano in casino luxe bar is working, tv is not on andPapa Dale as bar man it's a great place to go, maybe becaus I'm "well padded" I find the seating really comfy

Mind you. When we meet on Quest in July it will be the final rounds of the football championship in Brazil. If that's the situation you can forget about the piano. The casino will be crowded with football fans.

  2. I knew I liked calling him "Johannes" for a reason ;) To be fair I don't think I have ever heard him say his surname. It's always Captain Johannes or "your designated driver". He's a great guy.

    Phil

:)Couldn't agree more. He is more than happy to be called Johannes. Enough about the spelling. Looking forward to meet Jose on our next cruise. I have great expectations. He seems like a genuine Azamara skipper;)

  3. How do you pronounce his last name? I'm really hoping Captain Johannes is on our future cruises.

Mostly I hear Johannes last name pronounced as "tai-see"

The first part should shorter, -more like "typical" or as you say fifty and second part without the long "ee"

I can try descibe it phonetically as : "Tiːseh"

  4. Captain Carl pronounces it as tgg wrote and every foreign language pronunciation web site I've found agrees. The J has a zh sound.

Well it's an in-between pronounciation between zh and the yo. Surely not as vision and beige, but a little softer. When it comes to the "ay" it is simply not correct. (That is more the english way of speaking it.)

So if we agree the most correct phonetic solution would be " zho-seh":)

    PS #1

When I visited the Hugel winery in Alsace I asked Etienne Hugel how to pronounce "Hugel" right. He said: "Never mind how you pronounce it as long as you drink it":D

    PS #2

Everybody pronounces Johannes Tysse's last name completely wrong all the time. He doesn't mind and I think he has given up making corrections.:)

  5. Do all of you really believe these articles?

Most of it is hype fed to the reporter from Azamara management.

The writer did no investigation -- he did some interviews -- and what do you think those interviewed would say?

Given what we all see happening, we need to be a little more skeptical when we read these "marketing" pieces.

I didn't mean to promote some management propaganda. Just thought I'd share it...:) I always think it's nice to find new stuff on the net. ;)Read with caution:D

  6. We had a super cruise on Oceania couldn't really fault it. It just wasn't Azamara :)

We have only done Azamara Journey and from what I have read in previous posts the secret is.... "Azamara"..! The ambience, the flow, the crew, the un-graspable small things that makes it a, not unique, but likeable experience.

If Azamara can get the land side operations more agreable and smooth,- they will rule the world. Right now I think that must be Larry Pimentel's biggest challenge: How to make land side operations level with the Azamara sea side experience.:)

  7. WE are on the August 3,2014 Quest Mediterranean Holiday Voyage and I can't seem to find out when or where the Azamazing Evening is. We are so very excited since this is our first Azamara cruise. We are celebrating my son graduating from college and my recovering from cancer surgeries and treatment.

If you have your journey booked go via the summary and choose "My Azamara" and try to get tru to the Book Shore Excursions option. At least here you can view all excursions offered and one of them will be the Azamazing Evening Event.

    Good luck:)

  8. Hello Oddjob -

Actually to be eligible to be eligible for the 25% Land Discoveries Savings on your forthcoming Azamara Quest July 5, 2014 voyage will require that you book the shore excursion prior to midnight on January 3, 2014. It will not be 4 days prior to your sailing date.

§ Rule: Guests already booked on a 2014 voyage will still be eligible for the 25% savings as long as you book your Land Discoveries online at least 4 days prior to the voyage sailing date or prior to January 3, 2014, whichever date is earlier.

You are correct that if a NEW land excursion is made available there will be NO 25% Land Discoveries Savings. The program is discontinued at the start of January 4, 2014.

I hope this adds clarity to the process and looking forward to welcoming you onboard next July! Also, thanks to Uktog for her mentoring!!!

    Best regards,

    Bill Leiber

Thank you Bill. Nice to get it straight and clear. I think it's fair enough now that we have reasonable time to make a decision for the tours.:)

I can say with jimmy Cliff: I can see clearly Now!:D

    :) Have a Sun-Shiny Day

    Odd

    PS!

No you don't have to thank me for sticking that song into your brains. :p

  9. Hello MZK90 -

After the discontinuance of the 25% Land Discoveries Savings, new tours that may be added to a voyage will not be eligible to receive the 25% savings after midnight on January 3, 2014.

At the same time, we will be engaging in ongoing promotional offers featuring our Land Discoveries. In the company bulletin we stated, "... there are times where we will be promoting our new land excursions, like in November, on select 2014 Mediterranean voyages, when one Land Discovery in every port will be yours, free."

Also, remember that you can use your onboard credit to purchase shore excursions once onboard since all shore excursion costs prior to sailing or once onboard are the same.

    Best regards,

    Bill Leiber

    __________________________

I read this as if I want to book Land Discoveries for my already booked Quest sailing in the Adriatic on july 5th 2014 I can do so and get 25% off until 4 days prior to sailing date. If there should be NEW excursions after jan 3rd I will not get the discount.

  10. Tried to manage my reservation on the Swedish, the International and the US web page. (The Norwegian site has goone missing) No can do. If this lasts for long there should obviously be a solution for those who miss out on printing their documents or are unable to book excursions before the four day limit.

I am sure it is a system upgrade error that will be resolved, but there should be a statement from Azamara on this very soon.

BTW : I haven't received any mail regarding the discontinuation of Land discoveries 25% Savings either.

  11. Although they do not have the timings on them, details of many of the 2014 evenings now seem to be on line, not on the shore excursion page but if you search for details of a voyage aka as a new booker, the descriptors have been added, I can see what is on offer for my cruises. (By the way if you are in the UK you need to do this search against the .com site and not the .co.uk site which will no doubt be some time in catching up

There is a very comprehensive description of the Special event in Hvar 07.july 2014 in the "Shore Excursions" section if you look it up under your reservation. The times most be wrong, but apart from that I think our Evening will be held at that venue as described.:o;)

  12. Oddjob - Bill said the 2014 evenings were still being reviewed and he would hopefully post the corrected versions next week, as there is plenty time yet, suggest we wait and see that list as I am sure things might change - I think what happened was the evening was loaded automatically based on the 2013 sailings - it may not even be that evening who knows

Yes, you are right. No hurry, no worry. I am sure we will have a fabulous event anyway or anywhere. Wouldn't mind a concert with Ana Rucner:p.

  13. Sounds like the instructions have to vary depending on the port and the plans in place that night which may vary depending on the lessons learned on previous nights in that port.

I am sure we would all like front row etc but I hope we all stick to any instructions given to us by the onboard team, or agree with them in advance if we are varying (ie joining direct because we are on a private tour or already ashore etc)

Imaging the chaos if we all just do as we wanted, the ship is obviously working hard to avoid that so we plan to do our part as well

Off course. They will have to do it in an orderly manner. Tendering will start imediately after arrival. We will probably be in Hvar minutes before the concert. Actually on Azamara's web page it says arrival in Hvar at 7 pm and the Azamazing Evening is to start at 6 pm. That cannot be correct, but I suppose they will change it in due course. Maybe we should ask Bill??

  14. You sign up as if it's a shore excursion. It will be listed on the day's options for excursions.

Disembarking the ship was not by deck. The 4 events that we have attended differed slightly in how you are tendered, or walk off the ship. The first method was to give out numbers in the theater, just like group assignments for shore excursions. The tables were numbered as well, so if you received # 15 you were to sit at the tables that had 15 marked on them. For last 3 events your departure stickers were in an envelop delivered the day before to your stateroom. In addition to the stickers, you were given instructions on where and at what time to assemble. Seating was on a first come basis, since the tables, or seats were not numbered.

On this evening the ship will arrive just before the event starts, and we will be on tenders. This might be the reason that they tender by decks for this event.;)

thery try to tender you by deck. .but you can try to tender early. pplus the canapes and wine are for you to get. .so one gets the seats and other food and then run back and forth.. a fancy camera is better and i just took my cell phone.

just save room for ice cream afterwards.:D

Thanks, will get my long lens just in case. Mmhh!! Always room for Ice Cream :D

  15. we were in love! i brought the CD later in Split. She is mind blowing. it is an easy walk from the dock. i went afterwards to get ice cream and got a great picture of the church lit up at night.

the ship tells you it is only canapes but there was so much there i was very full when i left but had room for ice cream.

    bring your camera!!

Thank you, Robin. I will bring my camera and be early to get a front seat. We are really looking forward to this event. Ana is fantastic.:)

  16. We are on the Adtriatic sailing out of Venice next july. The Special Event for that cruise is to be a concert with Ana Rucner in Hvar, Croatia. I am very excited that she will be playing for us and would love to see any comments from guests on the Quest sailing late september this year who had the same event on their sailing( I think it was september 22.nd). Was it as good as it sounds like?:D

  17. Venice to Venice must be the ultimate Mediterranean cruise, as the weather in July is normally very good and Venice is such a beautiful city. You will get to leave and arrive, getting twice the pleasure.

We have never been to Milan, but my perception is that it is more of an industrial city. I'd definitely fly to Rome, another fantastic destination and then travel by train.

We took the train to Verona (very easy) and it may be much easier to get a return flight from Verona.

Although we have twice stayed in Mestre, which is much cheaper than Venice and easy to get to and from, I think we'd stay in Venice in future, if only for the magical atmosphere.

Flying in to Milan is just for the placement. Haven't decided if we will spend time in Rome yet. Verona is on our list again as we would like another opera. Was there in 2012 and loved it. Our small hotel in Venice is http://www.cadeidogi.it/ . It is tiny, but smack in the middle of everything. I love Italy, and hey we haven't even been to Florence yet. So many things to see.....:):):)
