  1. Hi, folks!

We've decided to add the pre-cruise land tour (City of Design & Nation's Capital) to our upcoming cruise. The hotel that Regent is booking us in for this extension is the InterContinental Montreal. Does anyone have experience staying at this hotel or any knowledge of it?

    I would appreciate your thoughts.

Actually, I was hoping we would be staying at the Le Westin Montreal, however, Regent is only using that hotel for the pre-cruise night or for people who wish to extend their stay in Montreal.

    Thanks!

  2. Can experienced Silversea cruisers please let me know what the majority of passengers wear on formal nights - - formal clothes, suits and simple dresses, or just sport coats?

    Thank you very much!

  3. A quick question - -

    In reference to your post:

". . . Earlier this week we looked at a cruise for 2016 on the Mariner. At first glance there appeared to be a lot of availability. After looking into it further, there was only one suite that would have been acceptable to us. We contacted our TA and booked it immediately. . ."

Where do you look to check and see what cabins are available before you contact your travel agent? Is it somewhere on Regent's website?

I would love to know what suites are available before I contact my TA.

    Thank you in advance.

    Patti

  4. Compared to a lot of folks who post here, we only began sailing on Regent in 2009.

We do enjoy the all inclusive aspects of the ships (to include the drinks!). We do take advantage of the included excursions, Regent air and transfers, and the pre night hotel.

Even if you don't drink alcohol, the overall Regent experience is incredibly hard to beat!

We love all 3 ships - - and since 2009 - - we have become Regentized!

p.s. - Happy Valentines Day everyone!

We have cruised on all 3 Regent ships and on the Navigator several times.

We "discovered" Regent in 2009 and have never experienced "brown water" on the Navigator. I have read where folks have had issues with it. Some have commented that if they let the water run for a few minutes, it clears up just fine - - while others said it didn't go away for days.

I am not sure where their cabins were located.

We have always sailed in "forward" cabins and have experienced very little motion and no issues.

There is considerable vibration and noise in the aft, usually for short periods of time, and can be heard in the theater and certain cabins.

By the way, we are booked on this cruise as well.

There is already a Roll Call started.

Safe travels - - and see you on-board!

  6. We've been on the Navigator 3 times - - always in a forward cabin.

We have 2 more cruises scheduled for the Navigator, again in a forward cabin.

We have been on decks 8 and 7.

It is our favorite Regent ship!

My only recommendation is to stay away from an aft cabin.

The vibration felt back there is quite apparent.

Miami to Miami (Caribbean) should not be too bumpy. I would not be overly concerned about motion sickness!

The only time I felt a little seasick on the Navigator was a few years ago when we pulled out of San Francisco for our Alaska cruise. Now that was bumpy!

    Enjoy your cruise.

We will be back on her in February for a Miami - Miami cruise as well.

    Safe travels!

  7. Curious if anyone has ever stayed in suite 702 or 703 on the Navigator?

I know there is vibration in the aft, but how much "motion" is there so far forward?

The reason I ask about those two cabins is the fact that they are connected to Grand Suites. I suspect that Regent gave considerable thought to where such expensive suites should be located on board the Navigator and whether or not there would be complaints for guests booking suites so far forward.

I'm considering 702 or 703 and would greatly appreciate your comments.

    Thank you!

  8. For anyone interested:

We were on the Voyager for a month (back-to-back) and got off 15 June.

The Southampton - Stockholm leg of our cruise was a Park West "VIP art auction" cruise.

We spoke to a couple we met who were "invited" by Park West to cruise at absolutely no charge to them!

They said they were not obligated to buy any artwork on that particular cruise, however, they had already seen a piece of art they were interested in!

They indicated they were "good customers" and were invited by Park West to sail on this cruise - - and in the past as well!

Being curious, I asked the auctioneer at Park West how it worked. He explained that if you spend $10,000-$15,000 on art, you would be invited to attend a "local" land event near where you live. If you spend about $20,000 you would be invited on a short cruise. If you spent $35,000+ you would be invited on a similar cruise (Southampton - Stockholm).

By the way, every night there was some type of "special" function for the group (dinner in Prime 7, cocktail parties, special tours, etc.).

  9. Travelcat,

I absolutely will give your regards to Mr. Galzy - - and will ask him who his replacement will be.

I will not have a computer while on board, so please be patient and once we return home, I'll give you the name of his replacement!

  10. Thanks for the wonderful news, Travelcat!

We met Captain Green in 2010 on our Alaska cruise aboard the Navigator (San Francisco to Vancouver). Back then he was the Staff Captain to Captain McNeil.

It was obvious watching Daniel interact with the crew that he was well respected - - and his engaging personality when speaking with the guests was infectious!

We're glad to know he will be in charge while we cruise from Rome to Stockholm.
