  1. We have cruised with Celebrity as a party of three on seven cruises in the past few years and have always been accommodated in the MDR or Blu on a table for four people.  Often the wait staff will inquire if we are awaiting a fourth person, and once informed we are not, the fourth table setting is removed.

  2. There is a very good in-house restaurant at the Mayfair Hotel which you may like to try.  Also George’s in Waymouth Street, which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel, is a good choice.  A picturesque spot is Jolley’s Boathouse, which is located on the River Torrens, a 10 minute walk north down King William Street.  A 15-20 minute taxi ride out of the city centre is the Penfold Magill Estate Restaurant (original Penfold Winery).  If you wanted to travel a little further there are many nice winery restaurants in the Adelaide Hills (The Lane or Pike & Joyce) or go south to the McLaren Vale wine region where the restaurants at D’Arenberg winery are excellent.  All of these have informative websites with up to date menus and pricing.  Hope you enjoy your time in Adelaide.

  3. The Celebrity App for our cruise on the Millennium next week advises that hand luggage can be left in the cabin prior to staterooms becoming available for passengers at 1pm.  The App asks that you drop your hand luggage off and leave the Stateroom to enable it to be prepared for your occupation.  This is a very helpful initiative.

  4. We were on the Solstice last year and there was a stand of children’s pool floats adjacent to the main pool area.  On the Celebrity App for our upcoming Millennium cruise next week there is a note stating that children’s pool floats are provided on a complimentary basis and that they must not be taken from the ship on port days.  Hope you and your family enjoy your cruise.

  5. We are cruising on the Millenium in March of this year shortly after it returns into service after its refurbishment and it is departing from the terminal at Kai Tak.  You can find docking locations by searching the local port authority’s website, which is usually up to date about 12 months in advance.  The Ocean City Terminal is used by smaller ships such as the Azamara fleet, etc.

  6. We live in southern Australia and earlier this year took the Celebrity Solstice 16 night cruise from Auckland to Perth via Picton, Wellington, Napier, Sydney, Hobart and Adelaide.  The cruise departed in mid-February and the weather was generally fine, with cool to warm temperatures in NZ to warm to hot in Australia, except Sydney where it was cool, grey and raining all day.  The cruise concluded in Perth, which was having a late summer heatwave.  In reality any visit to Australia from November through to March runs the risk of warm to hot weather, with the odd cool and wet day thrown in just to add a little excitement to life.  The summer school holidays in Australia generally commence in mid December and are over by end January, so a cruise in October through mid December or from February through April should get you the warmer weather with fewer children on board.  Not sure you need worry too much about avoiding crowds as most ports of call in this part of the world are to cities that would be considered to be small - medium size in world terms.  Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland are bigger cities, but are all well planned and laid out so getting around in reasonably easy.  Hope you enjoy your cruise to this part of the world.

  7. When boarding at Southampton you will be within an enclosed air bridge similar to those used at airports albeit a lot longer and ascending over a few levels. From memory you usually arrive on the Solstice class ships on deck 4/5. Other ports will have a variety of walkways (often exposed to the elements, rather than the enclosed air bridge at Southampton) that can be reasonably level or steep, depending on tides, etc. However, in general they are located on the lower decks 3-5 and there are always handrails on both sides of the walkways and staff are on hand to assist passengers. You just need to take your time and use the handrails on any walkways that are exposed to the elements. I hope you enjoy your inaugural cruise and have the opportunity to enjoy many more.

  8. I believe you mean preservatives? Surely it doesn't matter to juice taste or freshness whether it's done by conservatives or liberals;p! Sorry, I just couldn't resist being silly.

I tend to find conservatives a little bitter and unpleasant, but then taste is a very personal thing.

  9. There is so much to see and do in London. These are some of our favourites from a few visits over the past 8 years. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square is a must see; the British Museum in Bloomsbury is extraordinary; the Treasures Room at the British Library adjacent to St Pancras Station is London's best kept secret; at least one or two night time visits to shows in the West End after a quick dinner in Soho is uplifting; and finally, for those with an appreciation of all things British, an afternoon tea at the Ritz or the Savoy will ensure that your credit card limit is fully utilised and tested. For those North Americans with a taste for interesting and exotic sporting events, an afternoon watching a game of cricket at Lords in St Johns Wood is heaven on earth (particularly when the Aussies are flogging England, as was the case when we visited in 2015).
