  1. The boyfriend and I used the Carnival Hub app when we sailed in September. We each paid the fee to use the chat feature and it was extremely helpful whenever we wanted to go do our own thing on the ship. You did not need to keep the app open to receive your messages, it popped up on my iPhone as a notification (like an actual text, sorta). Also, we did not have any trouble with the messages not sending or receiving. It does not use your data or roaming since your phone is kept in airplane mode and it works through the ship wifi (and, no, you do not need to purchase a wifi package for this).

ScottyZ, thanks for sharing this. These are much better results than we got last December on the Dream. This gives me confidence for trying the app this December on the Conquest. I really appreciate hearing your results.

  2. While a captain-led vow renewal might be nice, you could provide the cake and champagne and encourage your parents to reminisce about their years together and to re-pledge themselves for the decades to come. There is, of course, no legal status that goes with a vow renewal, so it can easily be a do-it-yourself thing.

  3. There is a messaging function, although we found (in December, 2016, on the Magic) that messages were often not delivered for a long time after they were sent. Perhaps someone with more recent experience can tell us how it went for them.

  4. You can make a payment of $250, charged to your card. Then when your statement is published, go to Rewards and redeem your points to pay off that payment to Carnival. If you want to wait and see if you have more points later, you can either wait and make a larger payment to Carnival, then follow the process above.

As I recall the process, you can only make one redemption against a particular transaction, so don't charge the full balance and then pay off as much as you can now, planning to pay off more later when you get more points. Split it into trasactions you can handle now.

I know my card gives me some points back whe I redeem. If you have this same version, you will have some more points to play with after your first rewards redemption.

  5. I believe I read on another thread that the Fascination is going to Fort Lauderdale this weekend to debark passengers who want to get off, then plans to return to San Juan on Monday to deliver humanitarian supplies and debark the rest of the passengers. As we saw in Galveston, that Monday plan might turn out to be a bit farther along in the calendar before they can make use of the port in San Juan.

  6. We just booked the cabin M298 for Valentines Day can you tell me was the room bigger the the other interiors I make hae Knee operation before the cruise. Thanks Gail

It looks like it is the same size on the deck plans as are other interior cabins. However, the accessible cabins tend to have larger bathrooms and wider doors, so the main space in the cabin is smaller, and there is less storage available and often the loss of a chair, although there should still be a stool at the desk.

  7. I think there will only be the single concert. The performer comes on in Nassuaau, and gets off in Nassau. Tickets may be available now and they may also be available on the ship, if it is not sold out.

I hope you can get tickets and can fully enjoy this rescheduled cruise!

  8. I think that, in general, the accessible cabins have less storage space. Because the doors are wider, things have to be rearranged to fit against the remaining wall space. Just plan on having less storage and you will still be fine, as CArnival generally has a lot more storage than is really required for the typical 7 day cruise.

  9. Well, it's like they say about the reruns on TV: if you haven't seen it, then it's new to you.

I love this itinerary and hope to follow along on a blog or two, as our travel budget is a teensy tiny fraction of the cost of this. This itinerary spoke to me. It has a few places I have visited and so many that I have not. It is fun for me to imagine going on this one.

Happy dreaming to all, whatever itinerary makes your heart sing! And happy cruising to all who sail on this or other significant voyages.

  10. Thanks for posting about gift card availability. I was able to pick up some to pay off most of the balance on my 2018 cruise. Maybe in a few months I'll try to get some more to finish paying that cruise and pay onboard expenses for my 2017 cruise. It's always nice to save 10%.

  11. I use a flat waistpack, almost like a envelope with a zipper attached to a belt. Inside is a separate plastic bag with a good zip top. It has done a good job for me. I usually have my passport, credit card, ship card and some cash and it all fits with no problem. I'm sure I could also fit another passport or 2 for kids if I needed to.
