  1. We are traveling in early October and I see the first day and night are spent in Basel. What time should we plan to arrive (coming from Zurich)? Should we plan on touring Basel after dropping off luggage? Will there be tours offered?

  2. We are going the first two weeks in October. Neither summer nor winter. I know to be prepared for rain but should I expect hit or cold? Will there be a big change as we go from Switzerland to Germany/France and then Netherlands?

  3. I'm the OP. Thanks to all who responded. We are experienced cruisers but this is our first river trip unless you count rafting the Grand Canyon (highly recommended). We are doing Castles on the Rhine first two weeks in October northbound with several days on our own at each end. We are museum and music lovers not so much into wines, castles or cathedrals.

  4. We have $300 OBC for an upcoming Caribbean Cruise. If we want to use it for shore excursions do we need to wait to book them onboard? I'm thinking for this itinerary we don't have to worry too much about excursions selling out but am I mistaken?

  5. Thinking of doing Holland and Belgium in October 2017. I know we won't see the tulips but we are more interested in the museums, art and history. The only line I have found offering this is Avalon. If you have done this itinerary in Fall I'd like to know how it was for you. If you know any other lines offering comparable Fall Itineraries please let me know.

  6. Experienced ocean cruiser and DH looking for 7-10 day September or October 2017 first river cruise with either start or end in Amsterdam. Upscale but not exorbitant, not big drinkers, love art museums but not cathedrals. Love people and diversity but we are not "group people@'". Love good food but I am vegan (DH is not). We will be celebrating a milestone birthday for me. We are healthy and active though audio headphones or whatever would be appreciated when touring. Can you help make suggestions for cruse lines and tours to get us started? Thank you!

  7. We have done Aqua on both Equinox and Summit and although the Persian Gardens on Sunmit doesn't compare we still made use of it. And being we prefer to eat at a table for 2 we like Blu. We will be on Summit again in December cabin 1100.

  8. We did the TA with stops in Morocco and the Canary Islands in November. We had NO rain and calm seas. We had an Aqua cabin and made good use of our balcony on both the port and sea parts of the journey. My thoughts on the weather is that there is enough time scheduled for crossing the ocean that the captain has enough latitude (pun intended) to go around rain and rough seas.

  9. We did the TA in the reverse direction on Constellation in November. The weather was perfect every single day and there was no "turbulence" whatsoever. We stayed in a Aqua Class cabin. In addition to the balcony we enjoy the Persian Garden. We also enjoy eating in Blu not only for the food but for the more quiet atmosphere. My husband is hearing impaired and his hearing aids are less effective in noisy environments. We enjoyed both the shore days and the sea days and hope you do too.
