We did a 4 day out of LA last year and we missed EVERY port due to weather. We stopped in San Diego (not on the original itinerary) because we couldn't tender in Catalina. Then in Ensenada, we never docked because the wind kept blowing the ship back. We got an extra sea day. Many people complained, but I had a great time. I was on a ship! (Crown.) Food! Entertainment! Cocktails! Working plumbing! They gave us a glass of bad wine at dinner as compensation.

We love it and try to go every night.
Noticed our friend Roland in the photo!
Great waiter!
We look forward to lounge every day. DH drinks too many Chairman of the Boards (Chairmen of the Board? LOL) and we meet fun people to talk to. I love the shrimp fountain, but they have been scaling back on that for some reason. My daughter loves guacamole night. I know some people think it's a big waste of time, but I love it and don't want it to go away. OH! And yes, the wait staff is always the BEST!

It doesn't really bother me. (Of course we haven't sailed on a cruise where this is available yet...). We won't be paying extra for the convenience. If others want to do so then I don't see why I should be upset. I could sail in a balcony instead and afford to eat in a specialty restaurant every night for less than the cost of a club class mini. It's not like other lines with a completely separate dining room and menu.
I guess that's where I am on this. I will be eating in traditional, as always, so I won't be affected by any longer than usual ATD lines. It's just too expensive for me. I agree that I'd rather have every dinner in CG and pay less. If someone wants to spend money on the extra special treatment, no skin off my nose. I already get some of the perks simply by being Elite, and I think DH and I are classy enough as is. :p
However, it is probably inevitable that people being people, someone will get snooty and brag and someone else will be envious and angry. Human nature.

Probably a new chef.
Or maybe a temporary one? The executive Chef really does make a difference, I've found.

Hey Jill, sorry to hear these issues. :(
Let's hope this was just a fluke.
-
Can you check on butter in the dining room, embarcation
lunch for club class only, whether you get a blue
tote bag, and if Richard Joseph is your cruise director?
Yep! :D Anything else? ;)
-
Lobby bar on deck 5 apparently is the place.
Yep. It's a nice place to sit and look out the window, too.

Probably won't turn off the faucet of disinformation and I'm sure there will be reports of not having a Pub Lunch on their particular voyage that will kindle another rumor of Princess getting rid of this meal choice altogether.
I'm thinking maybe a better title for this thread might have been "No Pub Lunch on Ruby this sailing" or something. Since there have been reports of the Pub Lunch continuing on other ships during this same time period, it's not true that "Free pub lunch is gone." The thread title is, at best, misleading.
I will be on the Ruby myself in a few weeks, and I'm going to ask the Maitre d what this was all about.

Just thinking, if someone fell or jumped off the ship, heaven forbid, now the Captain would know the exact place and time that happened. The medallion could save lots of time in a search.
If the medallion was on him when he went overboard...

Not directed at you personally ... I was just getting over my
whiplash from the hundreds of posts about embarcation lunch
being only for club class, when I was re-injured by a
Richard Joseph thread.
Maybe you should stop reading CC? You know, avoid the injuries.

When I was on the Diamond for a NZ cruise, the vegemite came in little individual packets.

Last day, and it's a sea day, no free pub lunch, $12 salty dog is available from 11.30 until 2.00
Leave Tuesday, I guess I can say no more
So there is no Pub Lunch in Crown Grill as Brian suggested?

I purchased a mystic Topaz ( 2 for $39.99 rings ) and the stone fell out within a week. Princess reimbursed me for the purchase. Great customer service
That wasn't EFFY at that price.

It looks like they added the Discovery Camp to the Grand also while in drydock.

It's just a remodel of the existing kids' facilities with a new name.

May I ask which dining room?
Thanks!
Deck 6, midship.

When did Effy start on Princess in 2015 or 2014?
I'm thinking 2015. I don't like the stuff myself. It's a little too twee for my taste. Then I don't buy fine jewelry on the ship in the first place.
-
No Alfredo's on the Ruby.
-
Sorry to hear the food was not good and that you had to visit the doctor.
-
Same experience as some of the others with Effy:
My daughter picked out an engagement ring and bought it several years ago. Before the night was over, the diamond fell out! Luckily it was at Vines, and we noticed it immediately. And we felt very lucky that we were able to return it immediately and have the money returned.
I will never get anything from them, that's for sure!
How awful! That must have been quite a shock.

If you can, please let us know if there is a Pub Lunch offered. And also where? still free? what's on menu? (Of course, if you don't do pub lunch, then you needn't bother.) :)
-
They also have the Youth and Teen Center with activities.
Same thing, really. OP's kids will all be in Shockwaves (or whatever the new name is) so they won't use the teen facilities (now called Remix). It's not a myth that sometimes it's hard to drag kids out of there because they are having so much fun. :) One thing to investigate is Jr. Chef, an upcharge thing where the kids get to go to the galley and meet the chef and decorate a cake that you then get to eat. My grandsons loved it. I think it was $25 per kid then, a couple of years ago. They get some gifts to keep, too.
-
Kids' club. All three will be in the same age group, so they should be happy. I am the biggest fan of the Princess Kids' Clubs, and my grandchildren love it.

Does anyone know where you or how you sign up for the ships tour? I know to do it right away, but how do you go about it? Thanks.
/QUOTE]
On the Grand last fall, my SIL went straight to the front desk without dropping off luggage or anything to sign up. He was already something like #6. He loved the tour, BTW.

Pizza and ice cream bar burger bar now closes at 10
If you really gotta have it, there's rooms service.
