Even six months out, I am excited about the next cruise and read CC every day. Our last cruise was HAL and we got lucky with upgrades/upsells and ended up in a suite. Lots of HAL customers had their panties in a wad over all kinds of little things and I got so tired of it , I never considered HAL this time.
Lots of complaints on Celebrity about rising prices of drinks. I just got back from Publix grocery store and found a package of lettuce to be 4.99--yikes. Ground meat is out of sight too. It is what it is, on or off ships.
We booked AQ this time just for the experience of BLU and all the rest and now I read that it's a terrible restaurant, too busy, food is lousy, etc.
I am going to read no more on CC. Bye.

We are Classic after a 14 day TA. We are scheduled for a 9 day in Aqua Class in November. Do we move up to Select when we board the ship or do we receive that status only after the trip?
-
I looked up the menus for Blu and I see that something called "Airline Chicken" is an everyday item.
This scares me. What is it????????????????
-
With my limited experience, I kinda prefer Celebrity over HAL. When we did HAL last year, we were even in a Neptune Suite. We liked the breakfast in Pinnacle Grille, the Neptune lounge, but could take or leave the rest. We did love that whole library on HAL with the comfy chairs overlooking the ocean, etc.
We think X has better food overall and better activities.
Pretty much 6 of one and 6 of the other. Enjoy either way!

We are not really morning people. What do people wear to BLU for breakfast? I surely would not wear pajamas or a robe, but how casual do people go?
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
Just noticed that Celebrity's current "Take 2" offer, has bumped up some of the savings, and they are now calling the promo "Take 2 +".
Here's the link to the revised promo : http://www.celebritycruises.com/genericHtmlTemplate.do?pagename=take_2_offer
Thought this might be of interest, and I hope it benefits you !
Thanks for the heads up on this. It says new reservations only but I called online travel agency last night and she got me both savings and OBC plus I kept their OBC too.

We are booked on Constellation 9 day Eastern Caribbean in December. We are only Class Captains Club member but we are in an Aqua Class room.
Is there complimentary laundry/dry cleaning?
-
I believe I read that the vaccination is not required if you are coming from a country that is yellow fever -free.
-
If you do get an inside for them, there are insides not4 feet from your door of the Neptune Suite

We cancelled a cruise late this summer--was to have been a transatlantic from Rome.
We paid a 50% penalty on our airfare .
-
What do you think? We've done a transatlantic on Celebrity which we loved, an Eastern Caribbean on Holland America which was good and a Disney short c ruise some years ago.
We like quieter activities, eating, relaxing (needless to say, we are senior citizens). We've been told that Royal would not be for us but we'd like to try

We went on a TA from Barcelona to FLL about 18 months ago. Loved the long trip and the sea days. This was on Celebrity. We booked the one way airfare through them and paid $500 each. If we had booked directly through the airlines it would have been over $2000 each.
Do your homework. I think you may be surprised.

I give up

Seriously? You won't sail Westerdam again unless they put the buns on the counter? It's "sad" that others don't know the donuts are available, just not out all the time?
Life gives us many problems but surely this isn't one.
The concierges would get us anything!!! The steward got my husband a bagel, toasted it, and brought it to him. We could have had anything--just ask. I think most people are smart enough to say, "Gee, don't you have any Danish?"
Be glad you have the Neptune Lounge.
-
I was also on this cruise on the Westerdam. In response to the concerns about the age of the furnishings, the Captain said that the ship would get huge makeovers next April. This was part of his Captain's talk,
-
Yes, they had all that. The baked goods were not "out" in the a.m. but all we did was ask and the steward brought out everything we wanted. Also no champagne in Lounge on embarkation; we had a bottle of bubbly in our cabin.

I am happy to report that the Lounge was excellent. Lots of snacks changed throughout the day, great coffee, toaster in the morning (for those who wondered), peace and quiet and the best two attendants ever --Janie and Spencer.
-
In answer to previous threads on this topic, YES, the Westerdam Neptune Lounge had a toaster, snacks changing every few hours, lovely continental breakfast until 10:30 am and the nicest two stewards ever in Janie and Spencer who would do anything for us if at all possible. We loved it in there!
-
We also are just off the Westerdam 7 day Caribbean cruise. Lucked out into a Neptune Suite which we adored. The perks and amenities were great as was our balcony. As I said, we lucked out and I would never pay full price for one but I'm cheap!
We loved the entertainment. I thought the dancers were 100% better than I saw on Celebrity a year or so ago. The magician was very good and kind, eve3n doing an extra show one afternoon. The comedian was very funny. We also took a great liking to Jacob, the culinary host, and his great sense of humor.
Food in MDR was good, in Pinnacle it was excellent! I think the Lido was okay for breakfast and lunch but we ate one dinner there and I did not like it. Food tasted "steamed".
We went on the Art Tour in St Maarten and it was very informative. The rest of the week, we stayed on board which we like.
The captain said in his talk that the whole inside of the ship will get new refurbishing next April. Probably time.

Typical government charades --"because of cuts in funding". Yet read about the stupid things they do fund, send money galore to other countries, etc.

Does anyone out there look like the people shown in the online ads?:)

My husband got martinis on the Classic package in every bar, including the Martini Bar.
We both had the Classic--I had to work at even coming close to drinking enough. I wouldn't get one next time because often I wanted to order a more expensive wine rather than order lesser wines to get my money's worth. I wouldn't drink as much!
-
The martinis are not smaller - they use different liquor for the classic package.
We went with the premium package and it was well worth the $$. I loved the piece of mind it gave us for the trip - if I wanted fresh squeezed oj or a latte in the morning I had it. Smoothie after the gym or bottled water for the port? No problem. Try a new drink and didn't care for it -no worries - get something else! :)
The bartenders were wonderful (we created a song for Melbourne Clark at the Mast Bar on the Eclipse to the tune of Sweet Caroline ;) ) At the martini bar they were great about adjusting the drink so it was the way you liked it and they remembered it for the next visit. (You need to see them pour several drinks at one time in the tower of martini glasses! Amazing!)
We also prepaid our gratuities so the trip really was "all inclusive" for us. It was lovely to have a trip and not be keeping a running tab in my head of costs. It was also great to end the cruise and have a bill of under $100! :)
This is good information, but still--can I get a martini for $8 with whatever vokda?
Champagne at embarkation?

We did a sparkling wine/champagne seminar on Constellation a few years back and we found out - by tasting- there is a HUGE difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff:)
