  1. The topic came up as to what we would do if our checked bags were lost. We have a carry on with a couple sets of clothes but were wondering about buying more in Cozumel. We are not small folks and find that other than a FEW t-shirts there's never anything in the port shops to fit us. For shorts, undergarments etc we'd be out of luck.

Does anyone know if their Mega store carries clothes in plus sizes?

  2. In October in going to cruise with both my 76 year old parents. Mom loves to swim and would like to try a beach in Cozumel. She has a bad knee and stairs and inclines are hard on her.

On a previous cruise I went to Mr Sanchos and it was a bit steep and you really sank into the sand a lot. However that's the only beach I know about personally.

I'm wondering if any can suggest places that have easier entry to the water (no big slope etc).

    Thanks!!

  3. Wow so many great posts!! Thanks!!!

Glad to hear so many people got to their rooms as the should but also nice to see I'm not totally alone in my experiences.

When we were turned away from going to our rooms I didn't go to guest devices or anything but now I wish I had. I did mention the issue in the survey they send after the cruise but never got any acknowledgement of it in any way.

I think I'll try to get it for our next cruise. Maybe we will have better luck!

  4. Sailingwithfriends - We had the same idea -- getting it for at least one room so that we could all put our luggage in there for safekeeping - but if all the rooms will be ready at the same time, that sort of rules out that perk of it.

Both times we were not allowed past the watertight doors and told that despite the FTTF, we could not even go drop off our bags. As far as I could tell, either time the ships weren't into port late or anything and if there was some kind of delay causing it, they didn't say so.

jrmende63 - We did get to use the other perks, so that is definitely something to think about. We were just really looking forward to not having to wait on the room and it's always puzzled me to see people saying it worked for them but hadn't for us.

  5. So.... we have purchased FTTF twice and both times we boarded with the FTTF group and when we got onboard our rooms were not ready and we were told they would not be ready until 1pm - even after explaining that we had purchased FTTF.

Are we just unlucky? Do any of you that have purchased it actually get to go put your things away in your room when you board?

We are cruising again in a couple months and taking a few newbie relatives in another room and I was thinking about purchasing it, but with our past experience I'm just not sure it's worth it.

  6. We are not really into celebrating Halloween but due to work scheduling we are considering a cruise with dates that include Halloween. I’m sure that means we would have plenty folks running around in costumes and we have no issue with that. But I do wonder about any other things we might not have thought about. So……

Are there any major reasons TO or NOT TO cruise on Halloween?

  7. Ok, so I've been on 4 cruises but no matter who I cruised with we only got one stateroom. We are looking at doing a cruise in November but we will have to get 2 staterooms.

Are there any tricks or tips for that?

We have two of us that are previous cruisers and two that are not.

However, the two of us that are previous cruisers will have to be in the same room.

We are looking at putting the two newbies in a balcony whereas we are ok with being nearby with an inside but all on Lido deck.

I haven't done enough research to know if we could book a previous cruiser in each room but then actually occupy the other room...?

    thanks in advance!!

  8. Thanks for the info. I couldn't imagine it not being accessible but the Cruise Critic ship review said that specifically in their review. I can't help but wonder what they mean.

Pro: Free dining options and age-appropriate activities, including Seuss-themed events

Con: Layout forces passengers to climb stairs to access other main areas of the ship on the same deck

  9. I read on the Cruise Critic review of the Freedom that one of the "cons" is that some main areas can only be accessed by stairs. However, I haven't found any explanation of where those areas are, or anyone else saying that.

Can someone explain? My father is not good with stairs and so we don't want to book on the Freedom if that's going to be an issue.

    Thanks in Advance!!
