  1. Aug 22-Aug 29 2015 Jewel to Alaska family group of 7

We flew in to Seattle and used "Already There" service from airport to hotel to Pier 66 and back to SeaTac. Highly recommend this business, they were prompt, friendly and reasonably priced

Stayed at the Kimpton Vintage Hotel in downtown. Its in a safe area and within walking distance to Pike Place Market, the monorail, restaurants and shops. They offer a lovely wine tasting each night for guests to get to meet each other and mingle and they serve complimentary local Washington State wines. The staff here was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were a bit small but very clean and the beds comfortable

While in Seattle we visited Pikes Market, Chihuly Exhibit and the Space Needle. All were fantastic. The Chihuly and Space Needle are a must see and are simply dazzling. We were lucky enough to have great weather all week so the views from the Space Needle went on forever as the day was super clear and sunny

    Onto the cruise!

We stayed in a Haven 2 bedroom suite. Our concierge was Florentina and our butler was Ronald. We were very satisfied with both of them and loved the Haven in general.

We had the UDP and UBP and there were no issues with either one at all. I had some concerns about lines after reading some comments from other posters but we did not encounter any wait times for drinks.

We ate at La Cucina, Le Bistro, Cagneys, Moderno, Haven courtyard and had two lunches at Tsars Place. All the food was excellent and the staff exceptionally friendly. The entertainment was top notch, the ship in general is easy to navigate, in good condition and I found all the employees to be happy and upbeat

We did the following excursions ( first three booked through NCL)

Ketchikan: Trolley around town and to Saxman Village (amazing)

Juneau: Mendenhall Glacier Explorer ( walked to Nugget Falls- breathtaking)

Skagway: White pass scenic Railway (magnificent views)

Victoria: High Tea at Empress hotel ( so elegant and scrumptious) - this is a lovely city, full of blossoming flowers everywhere

We have a family group of 7 ranging from middle schooler, college teen, parents and senior citizens. Everyone agreed we hit a home run on our excursion selections. There were so many to chose from and we took a long time to finally decide which ones to sign up for. We were absolutely thrilled with what we did at each port. I highly recommend each of the above excursions if you are researching going to Alaska.

The scenery on this trip was just exquisite. We were blessed to have sunny days and clear nights and we brought along a good pair of binoculars I ordered from Amazon prior to the trip. ( Celestron skymaster) We saw bears, eagles, porcupines, mountain goats, salmon and one night we even saw the northern lights!

I have the freestyle dailys if anyone has a question I can try to answer for you.

Overall in summary this ship and itinerary are a 10 out of 10 :)

  2. We are a family group of 7 who sailed NCL Jewel Aug 22 to Alaska. ( I will be posting a short review later today in the NCL thread if anyone is interested)

We used "Already There" car service in Seattle to pick us up from SeaTac and bring us to our hotel, from the hotel to Pier 66 and then back to SeaTac the following Saturday. They were right on time, reasonably priced and our driver was great. I would use them again and highly recommend there services.

In Seattle we stayed at the Kimpton Vintage Hotel in downtown. Its in a very safe area, 15 min walk to Pikes Market, shops and numerous restaurants. The monorail to the Chihuly Exhibit and the Space Needle is also within 10-15 minute walk as well. We loved both of those exhibits and were able to do both in an afternoon.

While in Seattle we ate dinner at Cutters Crab by the waterfront, breakfast at Belle Epicurian and lunch at the cafe located in the Chilhuly Exhibit. We all were extremely satisfied with each of the restaurants and the food was delicious and fresh

  4. Washy Washy guy on Jewel was a real winner and topped the one we had on Breakaway. I walked by each day just to hear him sing! He is a true entertainer especially when his assistant was there playing guitar along with him singing. My favorite was when he sang " BBQ by the pool " to the tune of the Beatles Yellow Submarine all while spraying each passengers hands!

  5. Saw this in the news today and was a bit surprised. Maybe someone currently on an Alaskan cruise is able to make a post when they get back and report if they felt this or saw large waves?

The news story I watched indicated they were not presently concerned with a Tsunami but were going to be monitoring the situation

  6. Hello- I apologize in advance if this has been asked before but I did a search here on CC and am still a bit confused.

We have a group of 4 with luggage and want transportation from Seattle airport to a downtown hotel. Will there be SUV type taxis available at the airport as I don't think we will all fit in a regular sedan taxi with our luggage.

I wasn't sure if I should reserve ahead with one of the car services ( I was thinking "Already There") or if larger size taxis will be plentiful and available when we land

    Thankyou

  7. Our NCL cruise to Alaska arrives back in Seattle on a Saturday at 8am- Can anyone familiar with the area suggest what the earliest flight departure we should be looking at that we can safely make?

I understand the area gets extremely congested from the Pier to the airport and we want to be sure we leave enough time however many of the late afternoon flights are already sold out. Would booking an 1130am departure be cutting it too close?

    Thanks in advance

  8. I have used a nail salon on the 17 th st causeway that is fairly close to the cruise port..it is in the shopping plaza and takes walk ins.. I think the previous posters suggestion of checking with the hotel is a great idea
