  1. monopolizing------ last trip on INDY in March this is what i heard while waiting on the concierge in the lounge.

A couple ordering breakfast for their kids -- room service-- the next morning.

COULDN'T DECIDE ON HOW MANY STRIPES OF BEACON SHOULD BE ON THE PLATE.

I'm not talking one minute in deciding either-- it was pitiful.

  2. I don't know who told you that but unless I'm wrong (anyone feel free to correct me) there is no way you will be boarding on deck 9. Most ships board on deck one or there about.

Deck 1------- are you serious?????? ONE.

Never been boarded first day on deck one---- 4, 5 or 6 maybe. Nine as you say NEVER.

    This is how rumors start.

Of course what I'm about to tell you isn't a rumor but a fact-- I heard we're going to helo in. Saw them practicing on Allure #3 two months ago. Quantum has the new air chamber for flying so you can practice "air diving" into the ship-- by pass check in and right go into your cabin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. I'm staying in an Aqua suite. Any idea who my concierge is? My group is kind of pains in the butts but tip extremely well. We usually have lots of requests. What are your experiences?

Sorry to change your subject-but does pain in the butt but tip good translate to your rude to others and its ok cause you tip to cover that rudness!!!!!

  4. Sailed many B2B+s this year on IOS and just got home too!

IOS is our favorite ship. We don't do specialty restaurants so can't comment.

Loved IOS and with the 3 free drinks on the card for our last 2 cruises due to Spring Break, the CL/DL was less crowded or we could go to any bar on the list. IOS was doing it for just 3 cruises due to the Spring Break crowd.

You could take your drink from the lounge and go find any other spot to drink it on all our cruises.

Raj is the best concierge, he is on holiday next week I think? Well deserved break for him.

NO signing out of pool towels.

While on cele in jun of 2014 they left chits of paper on the bed every day for drink coupons. IOS using back of card was very good. Some employees had problems and would just give the drink rather then try to figure back of card out. We didn't use all the drinks each day allotted. Would go to deck 14 pre dinner-- after dinner stop by bar on the way to the show and pick up one of the freebees.

Let me say this about Chops-- in all our outings that included Chops dining-- we only had one other problem at a chops. Oasis when she first started out-- waiters would gather several orders and WAIT to turn them in--- so if you got to the resturant early and some got there 20 minutes later-- all meals would be delivered the same time rather then by order of seating. They don't do that on that ship anymore-- or at least not since we've been back.

If you've been to dining other then ships-- you know that the finish up is just as important as the seating. We refer to it as closing the deal-- I'm not slighting the waiters--- but the Matree'd who should have helped clear finished meals off tables.

  5. Sorry -- yes it was a great cruise. I did hear that the special resturants were now taking more people in. Never heard that more employees would work there-- just more customers.

be early to red stripe beach.

ALSO forgot to mention: ship shows 2 times for bus to beach-- actually bus runs every 30 minutes. Don't know why they only show 2 times.

We didn't use the lounge much either-- deck 14 D+ & D area was larger, more seating (outside also) and very well staffed with very pleasant employees.

  6. Just back from a 6 day on Indy. Honest eval to follow:

D+ and D lounge including concierge lounge-- was some of the best we've had. RAJ was fantastic-- on par with Mario at least. Deck 14- D lounge 2 servers and one staff. they were wonderful-- servers can't say enough about them.

Special Restaurants: Chops service was extra slow-- 2 steaks bad. No one mentioned there was Lobster available as it wasn't list on menu. Took forever to get table cleared off-- in fact finally left without desert.

Matree'd came over as we were leaving and insisted on knowing why we were leaving. tried to take it out side as to not disturb other guest but he kept on coming at us. There is no reason your server should be going back and forth with empty hands right past the table seeing the dish's are sitting there empty. Excuse me for saying but that's where the matree'd should be stepping in to help. After all he's probable the one who over booked the servers to start with.

Giovanni's started out as one of the best experiences-- but feel flat-- again at the finish. These guys are having trouble closing the night out. Either short handed forgetful.

Don't trust any res made on line--- now a days it's hard to believe it's so screwed up. Re check all res when on board-- bring your email confirmation.

Internet is still a problem-- connecting-- setting up account-- but service desk was quick to adjust. (Like most I don't need internet 24 /7 but I do have to work a few minutes-- it's frustrating taking 20 minutes to log in and out. Had my tablet but couldn't get it to connect. (maybe operator error)

One pleasant surprise--- red stripe beach. $28PP-- was great until around 1 when the beach really got crowded. Good music (even for 60 yr olds) beach clean, locals very nice and facilities clean. 10 minutes to port Falmouth. Cayman and Labadee-- well what can you say other then GREAT!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Just a little confused, I will be paying for a party of 6 on my charge now. The two other couples are reimbursing me for their dinners right after I book on line, at the end of the meal do both my husband and I give waiter our sea passes so they can deduct for our two dinners, one on each card. Sorry I'm making this so complicated but don't want confusion after a lovely meal and really don't want not to be able to take advantage of this coupon. Hope I'm explaining properly.

do the res on line. Print off your receipt and bring with you as proof of purchase.

(FYI-- always prebook-- always recheck the first day on board to VERIFY-- bring printout of res) . When you hear the pharse "one hand dosen't know what the other is doing" -- think ship reservation system.

  8. We are also D+ and thought all we had to do was show our card and go in--- NO couldn't get in --- secret agent stationed at door said--- everyone needs a res even suite guest-- everyone. then proceed to let us come in since we where 30 minutes early.

Comedy club--- MAKE A RES. Had to wait until 4th night to get an empty seat and it was the first time standbys got in. I think 17 of us got in.

(While secret agent person at gate (door) was shooting the bull with her friends-- away from her post-- several people just walked in---) DDDAAAAAHHHHHH-------- why didn't i think of that.

  9. When we get on board, just before the drill, we have a heart to heart with the room steward. we have few request and will never page or call you.

we need ice 2 times a day and not this little toy bucket-- we want the big beer bucket-- i will take care of condensation and empting the water from the bucket-- make sure its full. 2nd when we leave the cabin and put the needs clean sign out-- that means we will be back in about an hour and clean the room while we are gone. We need an outside ash tray NOW. I leave a 20.00 on the counter with the written instructions.

when we get back from the drill the big bucket is there FULL and the ash tray is on the balcony. (heard come 1-1-2014 no more smoking on balconys so that might be over for that -- we NEVER have to ask for more ice or have the room cleaned up. During the cruise we leave another 10.00.

My fianl word is if i need anything more i'll leave you a note. Don't feel you need to see us.

  10. M--- with over 60 cruises I think I've done my homework. Others can look and judge for themselves. I HAVE NO reason to fabricate anything about my experience there.

There use to be Roattan as one of the worst stops but after many "COMMENTS" on web sites like this (cruise critic) they cleaned up their act.

  11. I hope CCritic will allow this thread. Samana is about as scary as it gets folks. When you go with your kids and leave the fenced area-- hold on to them.

The landing dock, with so many on it, looks like it will fall into the water at any second. I've never witness such as mass of people. Why??? because no one wants to go outside the gate-- but the holding area around the dock can't hold everyone--- it's like cattle being herded. There may be 100 locals just hanging on the fences HAWKING YOU....... and you have no where to go to get away from them.

We did the Whale Watching last year and I'm here to tell you it was one of the most hideous sites I've ever witnessed. The tour operators--- ALL OF THEM-- chased down this whale and her calf for over an hour we chased her from one end of the bay to the other and like the people at the dock-- she couldn't get away. I can't believe we didn't run them over-- we may have. The other boats in the group were so close the guide made all of us on board don the live jackets--- he thought we may be hit by the other boats since the drivers weren't watching where they were going.

These tours operators and Samana DR don't deserve this type of wildlife. I wrote a letter to RCI last year and the DR gov't about this outrage. RCI won't be going to DR any more in 2015 but it might be due to Quantum taking over RCI's Explorers route not because of the cruelity to animals its promoting using these tour operators. (I know-- "but it's what the people want".)

  12. What happened to the bus at the entrance to Falmouth port that would just take you to the local beach? There was a beach bar, chairs, umbrellas and change facilities and they even had lunch included if you wanted it. The local people at the sign up tent said they don't do the beach any more and that sounded strange.

Is there someone else doing that beach? it was only 30 minutes from the Falmouth pier.
