  1. Thank you all for answering.  I think I just needed to talk about it since carnival didn't care.  In the past I always booked myself. After covid I had a really good PVP that helped with that mess. She got a promotion and I was assigned someone new. I'm not new to cruising but I don't go often.

But did she give you the wrong room numbers at the time of booking? If so, it seems like she made a big mistake. But otherwise, it doesn't make sense that you wouldn't know how far away the rooms were. What a mess!

She said we had the rooms with the door that opens in the middle. Then said we were all next to each other. After checking in and someone mentioned the site to see the room locations is when I had my son send me his information.  Something I should have done right after booking. Lol my husband was a little scared when he found out the door would go to strangers room. He thought for some reason the workers would unlock the door. It was his second cruise but he should still know that wouldn't happen.

That's too bad but there's quite a bit of difference between 5380 and 5480

Yeah someone in our Facebook group mentioned a site to see where our rooms were. When I looked I was like 😬 they wasn't put in the room with the connecting door.

So did you find this out before or after you got on the ship?

Before, I guess because it was the Celebration it filled up super fast. I tried to solve it then but they said they had no rooms closer to us. I put it in the survey . I got an email days saying sorry that happened to you but you all got emails with your room numbers.  I said yes but I never asked for my son or niece to send me their emails. I trusted the PVP.

Either way, the 20 yr/infant needed to be linked to the parents' so the OP would have have access to both of them.

I could see the names of everyone in our party. I couldn't see the room numbers from my manager and then emails went to the other people. We did a group call. I booked my room told her we needed 3 rooms right next to each other, then had my talk and give his bank info then had my niece talk and give the card info for her room. Each time we all gave the emails linked to our online accounts.

Years ago I used a TA then booked our Carnival cruises myself after the restart. I then found an amazing PVP who has been invaluable to us. When the Freedom caught on fire a couple days before we were supposed to be on it, she quickly switched us to Mardi Gras, which was nearly sold out. If I had to wait on hold with Carnival to switch it myself, chances are it may have been to late to grab a room and we would have been out of luck. All PVPs are definitely not the same though, so happy I found a great one.

That's good that there were able to get you switched.  I remember when that happened.  It was all over the Facebook groups.

Here's the part of the policy that applies in the OP's case.

Where minor guests can be booked in relation to relative or guardian:

    • Guests 12 and younger
If the relative or guardian insists on booking separate staterooms, minors must either be directly across the hall or next door. Guests 12 and under may not be assigned to a balcony stateroom without a relative or guardian (25 years of age or older) traveling in the balcony stateroom with them.
    • Guests 13 - 17 years of age
Can be separated by up to 3 staterooms from a relative or guardian (25 years of age or older).
    • Guests 18 – 20 years of age
Do not have any restrictions and may book whatever location they prefer.

It seems that the infant should not have been booked in the room with the 20 year old since they were not across the hall or next door. But the OP should have known from the beginning what their room numbers were unless they booked a category guarantee. Doesn't seem like that's what happened though.

No we got our rooms numbers.  I didn't ask them to send me a copy of their emails. I just went by what she said on the phone.  We did it as a group call.

This is an unpopular opinion but this is why I always book myself. I had an issue where a PVP messed up a simple thing and wouldn’t correct it.

There is nothing a PvP can do that I can’t. But they can mess things up for sure.

So true, I'm going backing to booking myself.

    From CCL website:

    1. Minor Guest Policy: Guests are required to be 21 years of age (on embarkation day) to travel on their own.

I gather that means to have cabin on their own.  Booking a 20 year old and an infant in 1 cabin doesn't meet CCL's requirement.

When we talked to a manager they said we could be up to 3 doors away. It was just no more rooms near us to put them 3 doors away. That's why they ended up having to switch the names.

I the future, always have the website in front of you when booking, so you can see the cabins. NCL is strict about the under 21’s, we couldn’t even put our 19 and 20 year olds in a connecting cabin, had to book one of the parents in each on paper.

Thanks for the advice.  We are looking into doing a NCL. It will be our first time with them.

When we book (and we always use our pvp) we immediately get a confirmation email with the cabin #, price paid, etc. on it.  Did you not get one?  Especially if you booked last February, and sailed last month?  As others have stated - you could have gone to the Guest Services desk and just switched cabins - gotten keycards for the other cabins.  Always double-check everything once you book, and keep checking to make sure no changes were made without your consent.  Hope it all worked out, though.

I only got the emails for my room. I should have had everyone send me their emails. We booked with the same person but did it together in one call so we knew we were together.  The room number was off by one digit. They should have been in 5380 and they were in 5480.

Could you have just let your husband move into the room with the infant without officially changing it?

Honestly, I thought about that but I was too scared to try.   I thought we would get stopped or something.

  13. I don't know if they changed the site but this time I couldn't see the other numbers from cruise manager. I couldn't even check in for all the rooms this time. It only had the names listed.

  14. We were on the Celebration last month. We booked back in February of last using a PVP. I told her that I was bringing my infant and needed all of our rooms next to each other. She booked us and told us we our rooms was next door with a connecting door. I put my infant in a room with my 20 year old because of the kind of offer we had.

After checking in I found out the boys were 20 rooms down. Carnival switched my husband with my infant. This caused my husband to lose the cheers package with our offer. Carnival said they couldn't do anything to fix him losing the package.  They couldn't even give a discount. The reason is because we knew our room numbers because they emailed them to us.

I felt since the PVP booked us I should have had to check everyone's emails to make sure she did what she said. We had 3 rooms total but none ended up being where she said.

  15. since you have stated you plan to follow the rules... then the answer is no.

its not allowed. if you are going to follow the rules... thats the only answer there is

I admire that you are looking for the rules and will follow them

    have a great cruise.

Thanks, this helped me decided to just not buy it.

  16. Here's what it says at the website. Since we're talking a child, I would think it's important to use these types of opportunities as teachable moments about following rules: Program allows for unlimited Zero-Proof beverages but only one beverage at a time may be ordered using CHEERS! - sharing is not permitted.

I plan to follow the rules

  17. I plan to follow the rules. This is what I was thinking... sometimes he gets a free burger coupon from school. He doesn't not like burgers. I always ask the server if it's ok for me to use it and he order something that he really likes. They always say it's fine since I'll still be getting something. We just switched orders. If they say no I order something else and give the coupon to a kid that will use it.

  18. Hello,

Thanks for answering my question. I didn't know if it would be okay since it's not offered with his package. I guess I thought it would be okay since we both have some kind of drink package. It would be nice if they offer a package for milkshakes and mock tails for people that aren't old enough to drink.

  19. I know cheers offer the milkshakes and mock tails. If I buy cheers for me and bubbles for my son would I be able to get him milkshakes? They don't offer milkshakes on cheers so I wasn't sure if I would get in trouble for using my cheers to get milkshakes for us both.

  20. Thank you so much for all your input. Airfare is already booked so can't cancel that. As for Allegient, they have 2 flights out of Cincinnati and we are taking the first one out. We have checked all fees and got our tickets at the airport for the best fare. I am rethinking renting cars and staying in Gretna though (we need 3 hotel rooms). We will need 3 cabs which I believe would cost about $125 plus tips from the airport to the French Quarters (should we decide to stay there). About how much would it be for cabs from the French Quarters to the cruise port and then from the cruise port to the airport following the cruise? I am also wondering about Uber. We have never used them before. As for stress, no worry. We are all family. We are only able to cruise so often because we are willing to make every trip "an adventure". I so appreciate all of your suggestions! Cruisecritic is one of our best resources and because of the insite of fellow cruisers we have saved a lot of money over the years.

Our uber from the airport to downtown was $32 I did a Google search for coupons and got $20 off
