We’re doing the Princess 12 day British Isles in May.   It has 3 Ireland stops, but maybe still not as in depth as you’re thinking?

I've seen that one and it does appeal to us with the three stops.

I think there's a land tour before the Princess British Isles cruise and that seems to focus on Ireland.

I'm going to look into that too.

Have you thought about flying via Dublin (Shannon) and spending a few days there before or after?

It could be an option.  I just have to want to plan on my own and with all I have going on, I might not be able to do it....but it is a very good option.

  2. HI All!

I was wondering if anyone who sailed on the May 15th NCL Pearl to Alaska had copies of the dailies that they could upload?

We are sailing in August, but scanning through the dailies sometimes helps me to plan.

    Thanks in advance,

  3. The Spa has one available item and it's the spa pass, but when I try to select it the messages says "no longer available". We are 97 days out and I thought it sold at day 90. Previous to today the SPA (under summary) has Zero available...is it just getting closer and that is why the change?

  4. We booked with Ascot Tours. Very easy to work with. Gilles and Wanda. Didn't take the trip yet, just booked. I would have gone with London Tours but max is 2-4 in the cab. Limo at Ascot held 5 which is what I needed. Trip advisor has good comments about both and others. Things to do in Victoria BC.

  5. Cabs are lined up, right at the dock.

BUT- there can be extensive lines getting off the ship and lines start early. Is quite congested with a lot of people wanting off the ship at the same time.

I hate that BUT! Thank you for the heads up....if we hang back a bit...will taxi's still be around do you think?

  6. Sailed Breakaway in August 2014 with 9 adults. Made two separate reservations. One for four and one for five. When we boarded, I stopped at Le Bistro and had all of our reservations of four and five combined so the restaurants knew we wanted table for 9. We had no problems the whole week. And yes, we sat 9 people at one table at Teppanyaki.

  7. The Marriott is directly across from where the Pearl docks. Its also about 5 blocks from Westlake Center where the Monorail goes out of. You are probably only walking up two blocks before it starts getting level. The monorail is a leftover from the 1965 Worldsfair, worth going on at least once. I think tickets are like 5 bucks pp rt, The Monorail takes you right to the Space Needle and Chihullys. If you want to "Ride The Ducks" that tourist ride is right there also. Pike Place Market is about one block from the Marriott uphill. We have eaten there before. Can't think of the name of the place but its like a rustic bar but really nice. Its the largest restaurant/bar and downstairs of the Market.

We did the Pearl last August to Alaska. I looked at staying in Seattle the night before but Hotel prices were what you are finding. We used to go to Seattle and stay a night and go to the Comedy clubs or a concert. We didn't go out for dinner, what we would do was go to the Happy Hours as there are all kinds of nice Lounges/bars with great food items on Happy hour menus. Otherwise there a lot of restaurants around, Ivars, Anthony's, McCormick and Schmidts, You are right on the waterfront which has all these and a lot more. Most are a Seafood theme but will have other items. You may have a tough time finding a place for Bfast. I can't think of anywhere around Marriott for Bfast...... There are Starbucks all over and we have eaten there in the mornings. The original Starbucks is at Pike Place Market. FYI most of the small food places at the Market are rip offs, small portions big prices. Look for an actual sit down restaurant.

My favorite hotel is the Grand Hyatt. Its about 7+/-blocks east of Marriot. Might be cheaper. 400 is rather high even for high season. Just a thought. Rooms seem much bigger than the normal small Seattle hotel room.

Thanks for all the suggestions....I will check out the Grand Hyatt as well!

  8. I am going to make a couple assumptions. First this is about an Alaskan Cruise so I will assume Summertime? Depending on which cruiseline you are on depends which pier you will need to get too. NCL, Celebrity and RCL use the pier right next to Edgewater and across from Marriot (sort of). Princess and HAL use one 20 minutes away by Magnolia. I also assume Glass means Chihully Glass and not the Glass Eye Studio in Freemont. You didn't mention cost so I also assume you have checked Hotel prices in Seattle this summer and know the rates are north of 200 for a "Deluxe Room" (read that as lowest end room avail) in a 3 star.

I have stayed at the Edgewater twice but offseason. Deluxe rooms are small and resemble a plain motel room facing the parking lot away from the water. We paid extra for the larger water facing rooms. Those were really nice but around 75-100 bucks more. Summer will be a small fortune. Edgewater is an old hotel.

Marriot Waterfront is in a bit better spot. Much easier to walk to Pike Place Market and Westlake Center. Space Needle is a longer walk and remember, Seattle is built on a hillside. Chihully Glassis at the Space Needle.

My take on this is a vote to Marriot, book sooner than later and either Taxi to the Space Needle or take the Monorail from Westlake Center (Couple blocks east of Pike Place). You can walk to the other places.

Thank you! Yes all your assumptions were correct. We are sailing on the NCL Pearl, August 14th. Coming into Seattle from NY around noon. We figured we could check in and then see at least the Space Needle and Chihully Glass, then go to the Market to roam around and have dinner.

I actually have rooms booked at both the Edgewater and the Marriott already and yes you are right they are on the expensive side...I think the Edgewater (city view) is around $395 and the Marriott is about $450. I am also leaning toward the Marriott. I wanted to settle on that within the week so that I am not tying up reservations that someone else may want.

It sounds like I will have no problem getting a cab from the Space Needle to the Market and it sounds like I can take the rail from the two as well. I know we will be tired from flying and I just want to make it as easy as possible for everyone.

Any suggestions for dinner? We have a mixed group....including one who is allergic to fish....can eat in a fish restaurant as long as there are other things on the menu.
