  1. This dress did not make the cut for my last cruise. It still has the tags on it and is a size 12 JS Boutique silver sequined dress. I am 5'11", so it probably will not be this short on your daughter. Email me lisa at lounsbery dot com if she would like this dress and I will be happy to give it to her.

You look great in that dress though! Let me show her tonight and I will email you either way. Seriously, you look terrific!

  2. Every comment is so helpful! When you have a million things on your mind...everything just gets caught up! I remember last summer I bought this shirt. I tried it on and loved it. So it went from the bag to the suitcase. Then I was walking around disney in the usual summer heat and for some reason it was so darn uncomfortable! I donated it when I got home!

I think its a great idea to avoid buying cruise clothes and stick to things I will continue to wear besides it will all be new anyway!

As far as sizes, I'll post them and want to say thanks up front. I posted for advice and felt I should explain our family needing everything, mostly so I didn't look like this clothes snob wanted everything new for her cruise! I assure you I am the opposite of that, LOL! I have been so humbled by this experience and many people's generosity has been unbelievable. I wear a size 18 and my daughter wears a 12/14. Shoe size is 9 and 10.

  3. Hi Everyone! So much wonderful advice....thank you! Didn't think about NJ and you're right it is not far from me at all! If you offered something, I've sent a PM....thank you so much!

Taking my time is EXACTLY what I want to do and am AFRAID that I won't do! I am a uber planner and making lists is something I love, so I've started one for the items we all need for the cruise and all of you are helping me add stores to the list and great ideas!

We most definitely have a great attitude and believe me this has not been without moments of frustration, anger, and tears...many tears! But we consider ourselves very fortunate...we have each other and that is all that matters! So this cruise that was meant to be a celebration of 25 years of marriage is now also a celebration of life!

  4. Hi Ladies and Gentlemen (are there any out there?)!

I am going on my first cruise in August from NYC to Bermuda. I live in Westchester county so I don't have to deal with a plane. Under normal circumstances I would have the normal issues with planning what to take with me, but....

On Feb 1st, we had a fire in the building that my family lives in. NO ONE is HURT! We had a total loss of smoke and water damage...no fire. So I refuse to let this get me down :) nor is my husband, daughter (23) or son (19) going to let this derail them! We had the cruised booked before the fire...we are going with another family and we are still on!

Let's just say we have NOTHING for the cruise (we have nothing in general ;) but for this post, I'm concentrating on the cruise!

And as a side note...anyone that does not have homeowners insurance, please go out and get it! I cant imagine what we would do without it...I'll get off my preachy box now!

So I need help! I have no idea where to start! The fun is that we can get everything new, and while that is fun it is also overwhelming. I'd rather concentrate on the fun part! Any ideas...recommendations....places to start....fun places to shop...luggage recommendations...pocketbooks....you name it we need to address it.

    Thanks to everyone!

  5. I am a chair hog that stays put in her chair and sunbathes until lunch.

When my son (18) and I get hungry, we pack up our things and go get something to eat.

After lunch we go up to the upper decks and continue to lounge in the sun away from the pools and crowds. On our cruise this summer we will probably spend most afternoons in the outdoor lounge that is adults only. If that gets too crowded, i will go back to my cabin and sit out on my balcony.

You can be a considerate chair hog. I paid for my cruise and if I want to sunbathe all day, then I will do so. But I am not a inconsiderate person. I don't go out early and leave my towels on a chair and then go back to bed.

    Happy Cruising!

I wouldn't consider this chair hogging in any way!

I plan on sitting in a chair or lounger whenever no one is in it. I will move their "stuff" to under the back of the chair. If someone comes back in less than 30 minutes, I will gladly get up. If they don't, then I will simply say that there was nothing on the chair when I sat down.

As far as large families using 10-14 chairs and only 4-6 being there. I will take a chair that is not being used. I will tell them where I am sitting. If they run out of chairs (their whole family is back at the same time), then they can come and find me (within 30 minutes) and I will gladly give the chair back.

Everyone is on vacation and I am simply not sweating about other people being inconsiderate. If they have any issues with what I have done they can take it up with the crew. And, if they get rowdy or in my face, I will not hesitate to call the crew and or authorities.

BTW this is not unique to cruise ships. This will be our first cruise, but I experience this at almost every single resort we travel to when the pool area is busy.

  6. I am not sure where to post this, so moderators, feel free to move :).

We will be taking our first cruise on the Breakaway in August to Bermuda. I have been researching and reading posts galore! So thanks in advance.

Can someone give me or point me in the direction of... a brief bullet point step by step as to what we need to do after we exit the cab? What get done in the terminal? What should I be sure to do the first thing as I arrive?

I have no young children, youngest in our party is 19. I know I have to stop by (I think Guest Services) to fill out the parental consent to beer wine form (my words and yes, I do this under duress ;)) and I'd love to get Vibe passes, but I know that is a long shot and I don't know where to go to get them to begin with.

I plan on paying DSC before I go and I will make show and specialty restaurant reservations (a few) before I go. I will also have all of the appropriate paperwork and documentation ready and in an accessible place.

Forgive me, I know I am a planner...

  7. We will be booking a private tour and have the opportunity to ask for certain "must see" stops, etc. This will be our first visit to Bermuda and we are traveling via the Breakaway in August. We are doing the tour with 9 people, youngest is 19, have varied interestes, and are up for anything. We have contracted with Winsome (thanks to some wonderful recommendations on CC!) and we are doing the tour on or very first day in Bermuda (Wednesday).

We are doing the 6.5 hour tour with a stop for lunch. We can extend the tour if we want. Of course, Winsome has plenty of recommendations, but I wanted to hear from everyone here as well!

  8. Let me restate what I meant. I am in no way excusing bad service or food in the MDRs. NCL should provide good meals and good service in all dining venues. I too would be upset if I had received bad service and bad food from the MDRs. However, from what I have read in quite a few reviews, the MDRs seem to provide inconsistent food quality and service. My personal experiences in the speciality restaurants have been very good. This review just clinched it for me to keep doing what we have been doing, eating at the speciality restaurants.

I have to agree with you 100%.

  9. My family just got back from a R.C. cruise to Bermuda. I booked a tour company called Unique Vacations for 2 mornings, 4 hour tours each morning. There were 8 of us ranging in age from 2 years to 94 years old, so I found this company on line that could accommodate more than 6 people. The tour was great, and flexible to our needs, splitting us up at times when we requested that some of us go to the Caves and some of us go to the Aquarium. They took us to a couple of beaches (our choices), where we spent an extended period of time. They had a lovely mini bus, that has wheel chair access, and they provided a car seat for my granddaughter. Probably can accommodate 15 people.

We were very, very pleased with their tour and their service. We paid for 4 hours but wound up getting much more. The price included entrance fees to all places and as much water as we wanted. It cost $75 per person for 3 hours, but we booked for 4 hours and it cost $85 per person. I highly recommend them. The email address and contact info is below.

    Judith Simmons was terrific

So glad you posted this. I was currently searching this thread for recommendations for a group of 9.

Does anyone else have recommendations for larger groups or have you used unique vacations?

  10. It is and has been a HOT topic on CC. Tipping, smoking, etc. are subjects that seem to bring out lots of opinions and few change their minds.

We will be staying in our first suite in April so for me this has been an informative thread and I've appreciated all of the input. Thanks for starting this thread.

Yes, yes for me too. Our first time in a suite or on a cruise for that matter, so I love reading all the different opinions and options.

  11. They changed the times from when I pre booked for rock of ages. It was supposed to be 7pm and they changed it to 630 pm. There was one jungle fantasy at 9. I think they had an earlier one too. As soon as I finish unpacking, I will let you know all the times. The dailies are here somewhere, but I can't find them yet. :)

    Thank you
