  1. Be aware they will not accept bags prior to 3-4 hours before flight. On sat/sun the pre-tsa areas can get very crowded, so don't rush to the airport and consider luggage valet.[/QUOTe

I live in Ft Lauderdale area and FLL is my airport of choice. I never arrive more than an hour and a half before flight time. There have been times when I have arrived as late as an hour before. I have never had a time where I could not check my luggage and I do curbside checkin.

  2. Hello, Ladies! It's been a while since I've posted. DH and I went to a wedding in Grand Cayman a few weeks ago. I got this dress at Venus.com:

Love the dress. I just discovered Venus from my daughter. I not only love the clothes, I love the price. I ordered quite a few things for my trip to Vegas. I will also be using them on my next cruise.

  3. Very pretty print! Nice set [emoji106]🏻

    Hi ladies' date='

Hope everyone has had a good week so far. I just had to share this with you ladies. I had a package arrive today..... Look at these shoes and purse! The colors are wonderful and I can wear them with so many different dresses. I love the purse because it is so small, yet roomy. I plan to wear them with a green suit to church this Sunday. A lovely lady on here saw these and emailed me...She said " I think these have your name on them" :) Thank you Joyce!:) She is such an amazing woman and such a dear friend.[/quote']

These are beautiful! I love the new printed shoes that available.

  4. 2 strand twists and 2 strand flat twist and twist outs are my friends. They are life savers. When I was on my 15 day Hawaiian cruise I started out with 2 strand twists, then did twist out. Washed my hair and did bantu knots and then to a take down. If you can do your own hair these are life savers. I simply took my travel size Carol's Daughter products with me.

  5. Hello Ladies. I haven't been around for quite some time. I just realized why I love this thread so much. You are such a lovely group of caring ladies. You each have so much to give and you do it so willingly! Thank you for that showing of love. To Drew's Wife, I am so glad to hear your mother is doing better. BTW, that dress is marvelous!:)

  6. There are so many great tips here ladies! I have tried a number of products but finally rested with Carol's Daughter. All I can say is you need to try out products and decide on products and a routine that works best for your hair. As you can all see from this thread, we have so many different textures, lengths and colors. Not every product works for every hair type. Be aggressive in trying and finding the one that works best for you. :)

I like the KC Curling Custard but I can't use the Knot Today. For some reason it tangles my hair and leaves it feeling brittle and rough. They had a deal on it at Target but I'm taking it back.

I'm natural and my hair is a little longer than halfway down my back. I just wear my hair in a bun. Is your hair long enough to bun? I don't use any bobby pins or fancy hair thingies...just two hair ties (made from black panty hoes), a water spritz bottle, Garnier Fructis Pure Clean - Gel, and the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine. It works well for me.

I can give you steps if you want. It's really easy if your hair is long enough to do it.

I haven't done hairstyles where I have added extra hair to my own hair and I don't really suggest that for a cruise if you are going to be in the water all the time. You need to really be able to wash and deep condition your hair because that salt water is going to suck all the moisture out of your hair. The Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine makes a great sealant on damp hair to lock in moisture and keeping your hair in a bun will help baby your ends.

If that won't work...you can always make your way over to http://www.longhaircareforum.com/

150,000 black women from all over the world just waiting to give you hair advice. LOL

  7. Lots of great ideas and looks on this thread. I think I'll keep my regular routine during my 15 day cruise. I co-wash daily because I sweat a lot doing my exercise routine. Sometimes I do the bun, other times a ponytail and for a down look, I just put on a little mousse, hair milk and monoi oil for a nice wavy due. Oh the joys of natural hair. It is so versatile. :)

  8. Your hair is very cute in this style.

When I've had that type of hair at night I would section it wet it a little add a little gel or mousse & some sort of sheen product then braid it. In the morning I would take each braid out and add a tiny bit more sheen/hair polish.

First let me say, this thread is AWESOME! Thanks to all who contributed! I've learned so much in a short time.

Secondly, I love these two strand twists! I get them every now and then and love the ease of taking care of them at home, but I also love to swim in the ocean and pool so thanks for sharing how long they'll last. I'd planned on getting 2 strand twists for our upcoming cruise but will probably do a wet and wavy sew in instead because I want as little maintenance as possible.

I had box braids (occasionally micros) in my hair for about 10 years straight which thinned and damaged it badly. I went completely natural about 3 years ago and haven't looked back, it's grown some but more importantly my hair is finally healthy and slowly growing back - it's about shoulder length now.

Here are pics from our last cruise in 2011, I'll probably get the same style (sew in) but longer hair just so ALL my cruise pics don't look exactly the same :) I don't look very happy in the first one, think I stepped on a shell or something getting outta the ocean lol but we had a lotta fun. That was probably day 3 or 4. The 2nd was first elegant night.

Additionally, I'm not that chick who is all into hair (which is probably another reason why I don't have much lol). I don't remember doing anything special on the last cruise except putting on a scarf at night, then shaking and going in the a.m. It was GREAT not worrying about washing, flat ironing, etc. It did seem a little dry looking by the end of the cruise, but overall it held up very well. I left some hair out in the front and wore headbands a lot. I'll probably take it out within a week after we return (from 7 day cruise).

Any suggestions on what to put into it to keep it looking "wet and wavy"? I don't even remember if this was all synthetic or a human hair mix I had last time.

Sorry so long and so many questions - just excited to find somewhere I can actually discuss my hair type! :)

  9. I had 2 strand twists on my last cruise. I started out with it pinned up. Around the 3rd day, it needed to be retwisted. A retwist around the edges makes for a fresh new look. Day 5 or 6 you can do a twist out which gives you a new look for the remainder of a 7 day cruise. You probably want to take a hair net or stocking to cover your hair so you can wash out any salt or chloring. Make sure to take some Monoi Oil or similar product to refresh your hair afterwards

When I've had that type of hair at night I would section it wet it a little add a little gel or mousse & some sort of sheen product then braid it. In the morning I would take each braid out and add a tiny bit more sheen/hair polish.
  10. Drew's wife. You look great in that blue and the off shoulder also is nice on you!

Why thank you so much. I actually had that same dress a few years ago in a sapphire blue. I just thought it might be nice in black...it might even be my New Year's Eve dress this year...and I usually try to stay away from black that evening.
  11. Drew's Wife, these dresses are lovely. I especially love the green one. I've never worn an one shoulder dress. I don't know why. You should look lovely in them.

    Hi ladies' date='[/color']

Hope everyone is having a great start to their weekend.

Just wanted to post a couple of photos of new dresses that I have ordered. Haven't recieved them yet, but they should arrive in a couple of weeks..

The first picture is a dress that I wore on our last cruise. I liked it so much that I ordered it in red and my favorite "green", but I really wanted it in a royal blue so that is on the way. Next the picture of the green dress, I ordered in black. The last dress (the purple) came a couple of weeks ago....not to sure about it...It's really large in the bust so I will have to take it and see if it can be altered. Also, I'm not crazy about the color...it is more mauve than purple...

I also bought a couple of new cocktail dress in a dark purple and black, so I'm all set for the next cruise....Just still seems so far away.

I think I have too much time on my hands right now!:D

    Everyone have a wonderful weekend!:)

Love both of those dresses. Too bad the purple is not the color in the picture because that is so pretty.
  12. I checked out Dillards online but found nothing, but I did find 4 suits on Macys.com and 1 on Bergners.com. I got the Macys suits and they are great. I'm happy with the selections. Still waiting for Bergners. Still don't have any coverups but I'm sure I'll find them. If not my old ones will have to do. Thanks for you suggestions.

Check out Dillards. They are having an extra 30 and 40% off their clearance and they had some really cute swimsuits on sale here today. I picked up 3 bottoms and a top. It is a tankini and soo cute.

I also picked up a really cute coverup. The tankini was $29. and the bottoms averaged $9-10. The coverup was $8.00.

  13. Deb, thank you so much for responding. I love bread pudding so this should be on the top of my list. :)

It's a vanilla and chocolate bread pudding with an amazing sweet sauce poured over the top. I hate break pudding but tried this once and now I am hooked! Right up there with the WCMC.

I love all the hot soups, escargot, filet, ribs....the list goes on and on!! 28 more day until I get to do it again!
