NO it isn't, some of us have done it the hard way by actually paying to cruise with them; and what's more have continued to accumulate points with no goal. To date i have 29000 points and am hoping that some of the perks that have been removed from the top level might be returned

      we have lost

    1) 20% discount on any cruise deal you could find

    2) A Bottle of Moet and Shandon per member

    3) complimentary laundry service

    4) 20 USD gaming chips

    5)complimentary best category. upgrade

    6) complimentary dinner per member ( not per cabin as now)

and other  relatively inexpensive, but nice to have, perks

all so they could give top tier status to anybody

    Pete

    Totally agree with you.

Black was 20% discount not 10.

You’re right. I never managed to get it. The day I boarded a 7day Med (which was to take me over 100 nights as I wanted to book a TA to South America for later that year) was the same day they introduced all the changes!   19 July 2015!

Let's hope MSC will do the right thing for their loyal customers for a change.  Sidari has been around long enough to have experienced the change in status debacle, where many of us lost our black card status without warning.

When did MSC ever do the right thing? As for appreciating loyalty, see my comment below.

We were diamond members thanks to our cruises with Royal. We first cruises with MSC September 2017.We booked the Grandiosa which we were kicked off last Thursday just spending 4 hours on the ship. The cruise was with in the 3 years.I have looked on my account and there is no voyages club there now.

I’ve never looked into the status match scheme as it still makes my blood boil, along with the disappearance of the Black 10% discount and any worthwhile benefits.

Maybe you need to re-apply for status match next time you sail with them.

Other crew members who are travelling in between contracts are stuck in parts of the world not their home and now will have to source a way to get back home until this all settles down and contracts are rescheduled .

I’m not surprised to hear this. One of the “gentleman” dancers on my Cunard Panama cruise injured his ankle. They debarked him at the next stop (Guatemala) & left him to find his own way home. The cruise lines mantra seems to be if you’re not earning (i.e. for us), we’re not caring.

Oh my, I hope this was a one off.  I figured that YC offered a space away from the crowds when that was what you wanted, yet still let you enjoy the whole ship when you wanted to.   What was so bad about your YC experience that made the cruise a disappointment?   I mean, since you seem to enjoy the non-YC experience wasn't that still available to you?

Yes, in my experience you will have losts of space for you up in the Top Sail lounge and in the YC area.

OP's impressions are pretty similar to those of other US cruisers trying MSC for the first time.  From reading reviews of MSC, I've come away with the impression that - if you don't like Carnival, you won't like MSC.  That said, I have read great things about Yacht Club and have decided to see for myself.  I'm booked on Seaside YC next Sept.

Oh, dearmie me, I hope you like YC.

I’ve spent 11cruises on MSC. The only disappointing one was in YC.

M&V ... Yes I have to agree with what you say, so far on the UK Facebook groups I have yet to see anyone have a refusal including those with no drink package booked before November 11th.

Why are you sticking up for them, please?

You of all people know they have s*at on us regular cruisers numerous times.

I can’t stop them doing that but I can stop them rubbing it iin!

I don't believe MSC is trying to convert loyal Royal or Celebrity cruisers into MSC customers.

Sorry, I have to totally disagree with your reply.

What else is the loyalty match other than trying to convert pasengers from other lines?j  To my knowledge no other cruise line offers it.

I am Black level entirely due to nights spent on MSC. My friend has never spent one single night on MSC but has just attained Black with her RCCL level.

Not that MSC Black has any meaningful perks these days. It still sticks in the craw though that others receive it without one night on board.

    I rest my case, M’Lord!

  9. This is a very interesting question!

I have no idea at all but given my experience of MSC over the 10 years I have regularly cruised with them, I would only risk it if I had a clear unequivocal answer from MSC HQ in writing saying that it was permitted and I’d take a hard copy of that reply with me on the trip.

At sea with MSC, it’s all too hit & miss about what is and what isn’t allowed, depending on which of their ships you are on and, indeed, even which member of staff you speak with on that ship.

    Good luck!
