  1. Yes, all independent tour companies have to wait it in the same spot. They can drop you off at the port entrance but not pick you up there. It sounds a but confusing but really it's not.

Got it. Thanks a lot. We just want the beach and the closest thing Carnival has is Tabyana for $44.99 per person and all that gets you is transportation and a beach chair.

  2. We were there last week, we went through Vic Bodden because some in the group wanted to see the island first. It is a bit of a walk but I don't think it took 20 minutes. We had someone with mobility issues as well and she was able to do it. There are spots along the way to stop and rest. We didn't even think about walking up that hill, there are tons of taxis there that for $2 pp will take you to meet your tour guide.

Thanks. Is Bodden's pick up point in the same location as the one if you're going through Bananarama direct?

  3. Hi all

Just wanted to post my recent experience booking bananarama. I emailed them directly and asked how to make a reservation for the day. They replied quickly and told me to call to do it. I used the email/US phone provided in post #2 above. We picked the $35 pp cruise package that includes RT transportation, welcome drink, chair, and 2 hours snorkel equipment rental. Decided to do this rather than Bodden since we just wanted to go to the beach and we didn't like other independent packages that required you to get your own taxi to and from.

A few notes. When I called the US number, they answered in Spanish. No surprise but my high school Spanish quickly got us switched to speaking English. I'm pretty sure if you just speak English, they'll get it! Be sure to check the details when you get your confirmation letter via email--the first one I got had the wrong ship, port for pickup, and pickup time (except for those details, it was perfect)! I sent them a note asking them to correct it and they did. Took just under 2 days to do all this. And from the directions they provide, it looks like it is much easier to find their driver from Coxen Hole than Mahogany Bay. 20 minute walk to get to driver in MB. Coxen Hole is just outside the gate.

Hope it's as nice as it sounds.

I was thinking about going directly with Bananarama to do the basic $30 package. Did it really take 20 minutes to get to the driver? One member of our party has some mobility issues so a 20 minute walk might make me rethink this.

Also, is there any flexibility with the return time to the ship or is it a set time? Thanks.

  4. Not asking smokers to quit but has any cruise line ever considered two different Casino rooms on board in different areas of ship one being smoke free?

I don't know if any cruise line has considered two separate rooms. I was recently on Oasis of the Seas and in their casino one side is smoking the other is non-smoking. I never smelled or saw smoke on the non-smoking side. The only times I smelled it was at the casino bar which is in the middle.

Celebrity's casinos are smoke free. Somehow they manage to stay in business.

  5. I also have cruised on both ships. I would choose Dream without a doubt. There is a lot more to do onboard Dream. I think Dawn is too small for the number of people onboard. It seems crowded all over, especially the pool.

Don't forget even if you can get the free beverage package on Dawn it's not really free. You still have to pay the 18% gratuity on the actual price of the package.

  6. Hi. We are 11 family members staying at Embassy Suites on 17th Street on December 27.

Is there a place within walking distance to purchase champagne to bring onto the ship?

Is there a casual fun restaurant within walking distance to have dinner to get us in the cruise mood?

    Thank you.

For champagne or wine Publix and Total Wine are in the shopping center behind the hotel.

  7. I thought Vicky Freed left several years ago??

Vicki joined Royal Caribbean in January 2008. Lets not forget Joanne Schimelman, another exec who followed Vicki to Royal and Edie Bornstein, now Rodriguez, who left Carnival for Azamara and is now president of Crystal.
