  1. We sailed explorer last December and have to say we couldn't stand Leigh and Erky.... Leigh makes us Aussies look bad!

And our over all experience of this ship was awful... We will never sail explorer again luckily we had said sailed on freedom before this cruise other wise we would of never sailed again.

Food was great, service was ok.

One of my sons ended up with his face punched in and we were told the kid that did it was being kept in his room. 10 mins later the kid was in the promenade egging my boy on again.

Sailing out of New York was a totally different experience.

  2. We put maple syrup on our pancakes. And a side of crispy bacon.

We will eat our pancakes our way thank you very much.;)

Ice cream...good heavens. Crepes maybe but good old buckwheat or buttermilk pancakes?

That's fine. But you really should try pancakes, icecream and maple syrup. Yummoooo, also the things you call biscuits.... Are scones here we have them with jam and cream :)

  3. I am a true believer that bacon fixes EVERYTHING. And we are reg visitors to the states (we r Aussies) and have to say the way Americans cook bacon is wrong lol. And the whole pancake and bacon thing ewwww lol it's one or the other and seriously pancakes go with icecream and maple syrup

  4. We are returning to fos in September. We have been on her 3 other times and love her. The staff are always friendly, it's our favorite ship, we love the cantilever whirlpool, the adult only pool, sitting in the olive or twist on deck 14 watching over the pool area and the world go by! And how the kids are treated by the staff is awesome. You will love it!

  5. We are about to sail with freedom for the 4 th and 5 th time come sept and love it. We were on explorer last December and have to say we will never go back on explorer again. We noticed the difference between the two ships. The people on freedom seem to be a lot more happier compared to explorer. As for not stopping at cococay it's all about safety first and I'm sure any other cruise line would take you to a place that was unsafe as well! And welcome to ship life and internet. Your on a ship and any one would have told you that ship and internet = big bucks we tend to go with out any access to the internet unless we can get some on the islands. Don't not have another sail with RCCL why not try a different ship? Before you give up on them...

Our experienced included my sons being verbally abused as they got in a lift by a guy who was drunk.... And one of my sons being physically abused by another kid... We couldn't wait to get off that ship.

  6. You know, your blog actually helped me with my packing for my next cruise. I always toggle between blacks and browns as a base, which means packing double the amount of clothes I really need for a one week cruise. From now on, I'm going with the black base and mix and match around that. It won't kill me....it's just one week! Thanks!

Wow so what's happened to graham seamor ? He has been on freedom two cruses out of three for us

  7. Well we have 4 kids 2x 13, 1x 14 and a 17 yo. We set a every hr meet up through the day and a to be in room time if a night if there is a activity the kids want to go to at night. They have to stay to heather and after dark they are only alowed to walk through the promenade not out side. They are pretty good sticking with the rules. If they are late they know it's off thier time of a night for them being allowed to be out of the cabin.

  8. Hi CruiseAdict218,

As a kid my Aunt took me on a cruise on P&O's S.S Oriana. I remember it was for 40 nights and the cruise was called 'Oriental Odyssey'. We cruised from Sydney, Australia up through the South Pacific then up into the lower parts of Asia. My Aunt paid for the biggest suite on the ship's top deck called Stadium Deck (S17 was the cabin). It must have cost her heaps! I knew that ship inside out and back to front. Sadly, it has since been scrapped due to damage whilst being a floating hotel for a company in Japan or China. If I was able to go onto it today, I would still know my way around.

On the ship I collected everything you could imagine...luggage stickers and labels, postcards, drink coasters, bar prices, ship maps, brochures, a towel, a model, pens, notepads, plus heaps more goodies. Most things I had at least 20 of each item (not the model or pens).

I did sell some of it on eBay a while back and was surprised at the amount of interest that is out there for cruise ship memorabilia. I do have some items left somewhere.

Recently we went on Freedom of the Seas and I purchased a cast, hand painted model of the ship as well as a keyring and pen. I will cherish this stuff and look after it forever. The memories I have of my two cruises, the latest with my own family will always bring back great memories, the goodies you collect help with those memories.

    Happy and safe cruising!

    John
