  1. The one drawback that I noticed is with someone that is handicapped. Only 1 arm/hand or had a cast on. I would see them get a plate and have to go back for coffee, then go back for orange juice, etc. By the time they were settled the food was probably cold. Maybe they have trays in the back and you could request one if needed? I certainly didn't see any offered....

Get your drinks first and the food is hot. :)

  2. Here's one and it was easy to reserve at a sale price.

There are larger ones than this also, but I'll let you research on your own since you don't want to believe it.

I do want to believe but I don't like to be deceived. Looking at the Princess website all of their balconies on Regal and Royal are incorrectly showing large balcony diagrams but listed at 41 square feet.

Don't be naive, it's called intentional misrepresentation.

This balcony drawing on their website is far from 41 square feet.

  3. There are larger balconies on the Royal. Many cruisers have stated this in the various threads on the subject. Yet, some people refuse to accept this fact as truth and continue to complain about the smaller balconies.

Where are the these larger balconies and are they easy to reserve and extra cost?

The majority/standard 90% are these undersized and tiny balconies are found on only the new Princess Regal and Royal.

  4. The highest rated ship sailing Alaska is the Celebrity Solstice, out of Seattle (better US resident air pricing than Vancouver).

IMO, the modern contemporary S Class ships are miles ahead Princess and there is no smoking, "anywhere inside the ship", including the casino! Plus they are running a great promo on free drinks, free gratuities and OBC. Happy sailing. :)

  5. No Celebrity is not boring but a difference in cruise lines is always a good mix and is refreshing to change things up ..... kind of clears the air on things.

We mix it up with Princess and Royal Caribbean, but most of our happiness and business goes along with the Celebrity product. We like the Modern Luxury feel.

  6. I've sailed dozens of times in March, and cannot recall a bad experience. Clearly, you've had different experiences than I have.

One reason could be that We generally sail on longer (10+ night) sailings. Perhaps they attract less groups than shorter sailings.

Agree Andy, with the longer 10+nights cruises not too many Spring Breakers will book those, there usually only down for the 4 to 7 nighters.

  7. Howdy!

Getting ready to take my second cruise but first on the Solstice.

Can anyone give me any information on the following:

    1) Cabin 9350-- has anyone stayed in this cabin? pros cons?

    2) Best recommendations on the action/adventure excursions for Skagway and Juneau? Would anyone recommend the dog sledding/helicopter tour of one port over the other?

    3) Any recommendations on the specialty restaurants or best food on the boat?

    4) We aren't smokers, so wanted to find out about the amount of smoking on the ship?

    5) How can I search the solstice forum for other info without looking through all the forums?

Thank you for any and all suggestions! :)

Your a bit out of control but should match up well with other lost and enquiring souls.

    1) Check out the sticky

    2) Of course take the Skagway train or rent a car and do the same.

    3) Tuscan, Tuscan, and Tuscan.

    4) You found the right ship for NO SMOKING !!

    5) Get your butt over NOW to your Roll Call.

    Whew..........Good Luck and Good Speed!!!

  8. May 15th. We are AMP on the harbor schedule so I know we are tendering despite what it says on Celebrity's itinerary.

You got it figure out, I was hoping you didn't have the dreaded AMP in Juneau.

This may not help much but the tender shore location is pretty close to the regular ports and not really all that much out of the way. :)

  9. No we haven't stayed in that particular cabin but as far getting second hand cigarette smoke being on deck 9 you have the benefit of having 3 passenger floors below and 3 passenger floor above you. If you did get any cigarette smoke would have to actually be traveling from another cabin and not from a designated smoking area.

Probably only negative to 9295 would be the walking distance from the Mid/Aft elevators but you guys look young enough to handle it and can't hurt with all the great food on Solstice. :D

Definitely go with the ship/Celebrity excursion on Juneau, you'll be glad you did.

Another really great excursion is the train ride in Skagway, it's not to be missed!! I know you will love this cruise and enjoy !! :)

  10. I see your August 7 on Solstice which unfortunately for this cruise Juneau is a tender :( It goes Juneau tender every other week on the Solstice.

If you don't have any tender priority like being Elite or staying in a suite, I would definitely book a ship excursion for this port. The tender line is terrible and from what I heard can take 2 hours. This is really the only bad part of this wonderful cruise, so take a ship excursion and don't fight the lines. :) Ship excursions are very good.

  11. 1. On Deck 9 you will not have any second hand cigarette smoke. If you have a neighbor who decides to smoke on their balcony give a call to guest services immediately. This doesn't happen to often with Celebrity but you never know.

    2. Shouldn't have any noise issues with this room.

    3. Balcony is definitely oversized.

    4. No difference whether your port or starboard side.

We have done this cruise twice and will being doing it again this June. The Solstice is the best ship sailing Alaska and the staff is really gracious and organized. This is a wonderful Alaska cruise.

Hopefully you will not be tendering in Juneau with 50% of the time you do tender. What is your sail date? If you do tender in Juneau is can a real hassle and would suggest doing a ship excursion so you will have tendering priority.
