Thanks for sharing your experiences. Did the cruise ship folks mandate you take the malaria pills because of some eminent threat in Manaus or was it just a suggestion and they gave you the pills onboard for free?

The cruise line did suggest we take the malaria pills in its information folio., We got the prescription thru the same Dr. and not the ship .  As I had never traveled to the Amazon, I wanted to be as safe as possible.  As I had stated, hubby did not want to take, and as we found out later,  You only need to take the pills if traveling deeper into the jungle, or camping out  at night.  PS  we did not have any mosquito problems.

  2. Went to the Amazon 5 years ago. Hubby and I were 67.  Neither one of us had any problems with the shot.  However, we were also given Malaria pills to start taking 3 or 4 days before arriving in Manaus.  Hubby didn't t take it but with my health issues, I did start taking 4 days before and by the second day had terrible reactions, dizziness, and couldn't keep balance. .  Stopped immediately, and when we reached Manaus, had to cancel my tours.but I was well enough to walk down to the Opera House and see a complete tour.   By the 3rd day of not taking them, I recovered my equilibrium.

  3. I have been on blood thinners for a few years. My Dr told me to use bubble wrap to protect my self (lol)  You won;t bleed to death, but it may take a few minutes to stop the bleeding. .  When I sail I alway make a small first aid kit : different size bandages, dressings, tape, non stick dressings, paper tape, neosporin and a bandage wrap.  I suffer from very thin skin on my arms. due to meds  Have bumped into things but haven't gone to Medical yet. And yes, having travel insurance is the best recommendation, I Never leave home without it.

  4. Had this happen a couple of years ago with Celebrity  Our final payment for our sold out sky suite was made and the very next day, 5-6 upper  suites came available for a much lower price than we paid.  This is where our TA came in.  He understood,  and had  some connections with management.  Won't bore you with details but end result is we were upgraded to the Celebrity Suite for the same money we already paid.  Sometimes it pays to have a good TA.

  5. Driving is the best method to Orlando.  From my home (which is 22 minutes South (longer)from POM to the Orlando area is 3.5 hours.  You will be home by the time you get to the airport, security, flight, get luggage and out of the airport. My kids and grandkids go up there for their dance at ESPN almost every other week.  Once you're on the turnpike, traffic should be very easy.

  6. Not familiar with  location of MegaBus at MIA .   Is your daughter  an adult or child?  If a child, definitely get her checked in first. Sounds like your transportation center may be closer than her gate, and taxi will have to go all the way around the airport and back to let you off at  the transportation area. If she is adult, have the taxi drop off closest location first.

  7. Amazing how quickly the time goes once you exit customs.  I would get your transportation settled and head out towards Ft. Lauderdale, which is about 45 minutes (not considering any unusual traffic.) I would rather have an hour to spare being at the airport then rush, rush, rush to return vehicle, go thru security etc. etc.

  8. We  had been told no tables when our tour personnel  took us off My Time dining in error and couldn't get us back in.  We were 6 people, no reservations, and rightly angry.  We went onboard and spoke to the MTD mgr.  He said to come back to the MTD when ready to be seated.  We did, had to wait about 10-15 minutes and was seated.  No problems thereafter.  That was our table the rest of the cruise.  Have a wonderful cruise.

  9. Gonna be cruising the week before Super bowl.  Be back in Miami day before.    The airport, MIA, hotels  and all roads leading to are going to be crazy that Saturday  Will be happy to get home , get off the roads and maybe watch the Super Bowl on Sunday.

  10. Walk in closet ton of space for clothes. , bed opposite , very spacious cabin,, nice size bath with tub, sofa and chair by balcony.  Loved the room, signed up to go again in 2020.  No reserve seating in theatre and CK reservations cannot be made before cruise on on cruise planner.  You will not be given a Cabin Key that will  open entrance to CK unless Pinnacle or suite guest.   .  Jr Suite guests  must  make all their CK reservations onboard and knock on door for entrance.   We loved it.   in our opinion, best food on the ship.

That makes sense and I guess if they used them at a different time they would still go to the D lounge during that time frame but people talk about drinking many drinks in the lounge during that time.  Do they get the 3 free and then are still able to go to the lounge during "Happy Time"? Seems a little unfair to the Diamond but then I am not one yet.  Will make that milestone Feb. 2020.

You are not limited to drinks in the Diamond Lounge.

  12. If security comes to your cabin to open the safe there are 2 people that  show up to your cabin. for whatever reason, and signed off on a chart  after it is opened.   They cannot reclose it without adding a new password .The odds that this happen is almost nil.   Besides housekeeping, did maintenance have any purpose to go into your cabin to fix anything? Are you sure your safe was always locked before leaving cabin? I also believe it may have been put on the bed or dresser thinking to lock it up but got sidetracked and it landed somewhere in the cabin.Sorry to hear of the loss..  Hope you are able to locate it.

  13. We started taking cruise insurance due to a pre existing condition. I consider it part of the cost of the cruise, and pay for it when deposits are made.  Have heard many stories of passengers not thinking its necessary, then have the unexpected situations happen.

For us, this is a small cost to have the peace of mind when traveling, especially when the cruise is a year away.

  14.  We are returning from Symphony on February 1, 2020.  I"m sure the charter has to do with Super Bowl Sunday.  Miami and traffic is going to be an absolute  madhouse when we return. So very sorry that you had this cruise cancelled. Surprised that  OBC of only $100 per cabin was offered.  RCCL must have gotten a pile of $$ to charter that week.

  15. Just off Symphony, Got the voomI surf and stream and was able to connect to slingbox  on my laptop  while sailing.  No problems. Other passengers stated they used other media  to watch their Netflix TV and videos.

  16. We flew from Seattle to Dallas to Miami a couple of years ago (I live in Miami was coming home from Alaska cruise.)  We were 6 people and we all had first class seats. Our connecting flight wait  was 1.5  hrs. Our flight into Dallas was running late as we sat on the tarmac waiting  and running very close to our connecting flight.  We actually ran to the gate  to try to board, but the door had closed 6 minutes before  and left the gate without us.  The next flight (we sat in coach center seats) was 45 minutes later.  So everything needs to be perfect to get to Miami on time. Especially with a connector.  A bit too close for me.

What about the Chicken Marsala,  Lasagna, Eggplant Parmesan, etc.?

Where?  in the itaiian  restaurants??  Maybe the Chicken Marsala was served in WJ, but twice I have been to Jamies and found no chicken ,except served  plain, with bone intact.   very disappointing.   They do not serve typical itaiian food. Their food choices were terrible.  I did not  have to spend extra for spaghetti and meat sauce   Will never go back there.
