i cant wait to see it try and make it under the Verazzano Bridge .. especially lightly loaded ... that big thing gonna crash right into that bridge.

Yes during drydock the smoke stack was made retractable so she would fit under bridge.

If you have more than 1 person, UBER or Lyft is the best choice. Prices as of last year: Royal bus at $28 per person while the car service was $22 to $28 per trip depending on peak time.
Also, EWR has 3 terminals and there is only one Royal representative who moves between the terminals. One time I spent 20 minutes looking for her. Then she waits for more people to arrive before calling the bus. So you could be possibly waiting at the airport for an hour before boarding the Royal bus.

I'm an experienced cruiser but this is my first NCL. I leave on Dawn in 8 days and am taking a crash course on new cruise line.
My questions are:
1. Does Dawn have a library? Not fussy over quantity just hoping to pick up a few random fictions books.
2. Are there any apps I need to down load beforehand to see the daily activity sheet on my phone.
Thank you!

My last Christmas cruise on Ruby Princess, galley tour was free.
$119 is a big bite.
On Princess the galley tour usually takes place after the cooking demonstration in the theater. They funnel you though the galley and you exit into the $10 sale area set up in the dining room. I wouldn't really call it a tour - just a quick walk through. However, the backstage theater tour on Princess occurs after the Q&A and is truly a free informative tour with no sales pitch.
I haven't been on Royals tours yet but just hit diamond so will go for free next time 🙂 I assume it will be similar or better to Princess but I was content to wait for it since I had done similar in the past.

Received the email in picture at 11:03 today from the address News@email.celebritycruises.com
Got so excited to see Equinox sailing from Bayonne only to click the link to find the ship is really Summit (which I've sailed several times and love).
Pretty sure it was just a typo on the email. (Million dollar company can't employee enough competent help to proof read. Pet peeve not that I'm a great typist myself.)
Or do you think there is a possibility of some dancing of the ships since both Summit and Equinox are scheduled for dry dock in the Spring?

For my last cruise I did mock bookings in EZair to test if I could pick seats.
For example: Delta codes shares with Virgin. If I picked a true Delta flight the seat was included and selectable in EZair.
If I picked a Delta flight operated by Virgin (in fine print under Delta) it would go past the seat selection to the payment screen. That is because Virgin charges to select seats more than 24 hours before the flight.
You can try the mock booking method and also be sure to read the terms on the carriers main webpage.
Good luck.

I inquired about transferring a booking I made on board. It's 50 days old. A well known agency just replied to my email with - "Royal Caribbean is very strict and will not let us take over a booking that has not been transferred within 30 days."
I've used this agent before and know he has at least 5 years experience.
Has RCL recently changed policy? It used to be 60 days.

I put the 9-17-17 Crown Princess on hold (72 hours). Fair price, interesting itinerary but I'm not 100% sold yet. I've never sailed Princess and need to do a little bit of research. Still, with the price, the OBC and $100 off by using Amex offer it is a great deal.
Many are already booked. We have anytime dining so we can sit together and are going to plan excursions when it gets closer.

I just booked the September 17th 2017 sailing of the Crown Princess, 7 nights rt. New York to Canada and New England. $973 total interior cabin, with $150 obc from Princess and $50 obc from my TA. That price reflects a less than zero single supplement (-11%).
I've never done this type of itinerary, preferring a more tropical route, but couldn't pass up the opportunity to try something new at a great price. :)
Tony
Price is still up on directly on the Princess website. It allowed me to put a hold on it until 1/17. That will give me time to get vacation approval and transfer to TA

I found a post from 2014 showing transportation rates when debarking in
Cape Liberty. Does anyone have an updated list?
Specifically, I'm interested in the shared shuttle going to Grand Central. Is it still running and how much it is.
(I was planning to use RCL shuttle to go to Amtrak for $28 but would much rather go to Grand Central/Metro North. I'm solo looking for shared shuttle - not private ride.)
TIA

i just got off the phone with Royal Caribbean. They said they offered service from EWR or Amtrak to Cape Liberty for $57 total round trip.
I forgot to ask which Amtrak station. Does anyone know which station and what time it picks up on embarkation day?
(I'm solo so hiring a car for 1 doesn't make cost sense)
Thank you

August 14, going to try the Fathom's ship Adonia. Multiple night's in Dominican Republic and you can do regular pay activities off ship or do the "mission" type community assistant activities :) I read all the reviews. I'm aware of the small amount of entertainment etc. This line is under the carnival deal if you have the 100 carnival shares you get a $100 on board credit for those that have that. Booking agent had done some of the activities etc so was nice to chat with someone who had been in June :D
Price just dropped for weeks of 8/28, 9/11 and 9/25. I'm calling for more info on 9/11. Expecting the price to be $249 *150% supplement + $208 tax/fees = $581.50 solo balcony.

A list of single occupancy offers is located on www. goccl .com
Scroll down the "featured special" list to find it.
You can book directly with cruise line or use travel agent.

The current list is short but I've seen it go to two pages before. They update it every couple of weeks. Scroll to lower right corner to see revision date.

I cruised twice this year. Each time with 2 bottles of wine.
In Port Everglades boarding Caribbean Princess nothing was said about the wine in my carry on and I went straight on board.
In Vancouver boarding Star Princess I was directed to the table. They looked at my 2 bottles and wrote down my cabin number.
Does this vary by ship? Why did they write my cabin number down when I only had 2 bottles?
TIA

Found this interesting link. At first thought they were rationing booths. But looking further it seems like the same vendors most days. Maybe just rotating them through booth location since some were closer to pier???
Haven't boiled it down to what tours they sell yet - is there more than one whale watch vendor listed?

Keep quiet until after the February cruise.
If he hates cruising you can cancel and get all your money back.
If he loves cruising you can tell him about the bargain you got.

knee high rubber boots
Dumb question. Do the boots go on over your shoes? My son usually wears workboots. Should he wear sneakers that day.
TIA

We were in the walk off group (carry own luggage) at 7:40 last Saturday on Caribbean Princess. At least 5 ships in port, Oasis, Liberty, Indy, Royal Princess and a Carnival. Spent about 10 minutes at customs. Line for cab was about 15 minutes but grew considerably longer after we got there. Some traffic on way to FLL was about 10 minutes.
Was sitting at FLL at 8:30am for 11:20 flight. Still glad that I didn't book earlier though.

kids (teens) passports expire the month after we travel.
I'm in the same situation for my DS April trip. I read some posts that the cruise personalizer would not let you enter the date if it was too close (I did not try it myself).
Anyway my DS is traveling in both April and August so I'm just biting the bullet, paying the expedite fee and renewing now.

I've posted this story before but do repost occasionally.
August 2013 Glacier Bay - port side has some of the most dramatic calving they had seen all season. Captain turned to starboard and not another drop fell.
Luckily I was on deck and able to enjoy it. Those who sat on their balcony on starboard saw nothing. Same is true for whales and waterfalls. A balcony only sees half the story.
Bundle up and get out on deck for best views.

Looks like the TA made a typo.
It's happened to me with 2 different TA's, one large agency, one small. IMO they hand type the info from the Princess confirmation into their format and often make errors. I'm an accountant and discrepancies like that jump out at me.
Even though the total is the same I would call the TA to point it out.

Faxed at 1pm today. It was posted to my account by 4pm.
Wow! Good Job Princess! :D
Oasis of the Seas - where have Roll Call groups met recently?

Lime & Coconut Mid ship 15 Starboard. It has covered area and is on the non-smoking side. Outdoors so all can attend. Make sure to specify the location as there are Lime & Coconut labeled bars on both sides of ship as well as deck 16.
