We have 70+ cruises, 20 (elite) w/ Princess, and this is a point that seems largely overlooked:  these are the people we have previously trusted with our at-sea safety, and going forward we would have to trust them with our medical safety, too. But for us, the trust is pretty much gone.

Very well said. We have well over 800 days on cruise ships When trouble stirs, the executives don't know what to do. They publish excuses verses developing and publishing a correction plan informing their loyal base on how they will fix the problems.

The frustration is very high, lots of emails from Princess but no results. We canceled March 10 for an April 25 sailing. We are getting close to 90 days. We have a travel agent but I think he is overwhelmed too. Filled out all the paperwork and wanted option 2, lower value but complete refund. I will not book a future cruise until this is handled. 90 days is a long time to get your money back when we are all suffering right now. PLEASE PRINCESS, hire more help...keep your Platinum members happy so they will book again with you.

They are also neglecting their Elite members

We cancelled the middle of March and just received both our refund to our credit card and the FCC.  So it took about 3 months - maybe a little less.   I know Princess is working as hard as they can

It is great that you have received your refund. I do have to disagree that Princess is working as hard as they can. A good management team would assure that there is a common message for all representatives would have as to how the refunds are being handled. They would also publish a statement to their customers stating the same information. We are frustrated because of the different messages that we are receiving from Princess. With automation and social messaging it is easy and fast to keep passengers informed, if they wanted to.

It's 6/4 and I get my money back from Princess, full refund including insurance..  I was booked on a cruise leaving 4/14.  I responded to Princess' refund e-mail of 3/12 requesting a cash refund.  I disputed the charge on 5/13.  Citibank was great to work with.  Princess stunk.  At least it's over.

How do you challenge a CC charge from months ago?

I canceled a July Japan Cruisetour on April 3 about 10 days before Princess canceled.

Up until that point I had paid 12k to Princess. The only communication that I received from Princess concerning this booking was the confirmation  of cancelation of April 3. My TA told me 30-60 days to receive the refund. Well it's 60+ days and still no communication. I get most of the information from this thread. I get the phases, times of refund to post 30-90 days or from date of cruise ( maybe October?). I have not filed a CC dispute. I have been patient. My plan is to wait another 30 days for my Cruisetour date and file a CC dispute and do what I have to do to get my money back. I don't think it should take 6-7 months to process this refund.

Is Princess refunding based on cancelation date or cruise date?

Our ship will be in Icy Strait Point, AK, May 24. We'd like to do the ziprider. Has anyone done this? How did you get from the ship to the venue? Did you feel it's worth the $130? Thanks for any info.

My wife and family have done it twice. They loved it and would do it again

We walked from the dock over to the tour center. Your tour tickets will tell you where to meet.

  7. Well that was fast! I got my Brazilian visa already. It comes as a PDF, which you have to print out and carry with you at all times.

    Super easy process!

I also utilized the e-Visa. Had some issues with creating the images of my passport. Company sent a link that helped size the images. Took 3 working days after submission to get our Visa's

  8. The Dock is about a 12-minute bus ride into town. The shuttle service is free. Sitka is building a new cultural center and the busses are let off there. This center is right in town. Not far from St. Michael's.

There is a $10 hop-on/hop-off shuttle that takes you around Sikta including Totem Park, Alaska Raptor Center, Sheldon Jackson Museum, St. Michael's Orthodox Church, Russian Bishop's House, Tlingit Clan House, and Science Center Aquarium/Hatchery.

What was interesting is that the HAL excursions, when finished, did not return you to the ship, but dropped you off in town, where you either explored or waiting to return to the ship.

We saw a long line of folks waiting to return to the ship, but that could probably be it was early in the season and they had not perfected the timing yet.

Many HAL excursion folks were not told they would be dropped off and would then need to take the shuttle. So there seemed to be a lot of confusion.

The dock has a small terminal building that is up a slight hill from the ship.

Thank you. Two questions, is the Hop on Hop off bus at the terminal? Are the shuttle buses capable of handling a scooter?

  9. Anytime; hope you will be able to enjoy Alaska on MADM. She'll be in Juneau tomorrow visible on the new webcam there

We enjoy Alaska. It will be our 9th time. We are bringing our family with us to show them this beautiful state. There will be 19 of us. Looking forward to 2017. My DW retires so we can go on the longer Holland cruises.

  10. Yes; I was on AMDM last year when we docked in Sitka one time due to weather. Can't help you with the shuttle bus/scooter question because I didn't check them out and didn't go into town. Hopefully, someone else here who has used them, can. If not, I suggest you contact HAL Ships Services

    Thanks for your insight

  11. Negative; There will be no more tendering in Sitka by HAL effective this year. The reason some HAL ships, i.e. WEDM, SADM and AMDM, used the Old Sitka Dock during the 2015 Alaska season was due to weather. It was unsafe to tender.

The Old Sitka Dock is a private venture and there is only space for one cruise large ship

Have you docked in Sitka? Can the shuttle buses handle a scooter?

  12. Maasdam will be the only ship in port for almost every time she's in Sitka. Which makes me think they'll dock, but what do I know?:D The day we docked in Sitka last May, the Westerdam was the only ship in town (May 6th, 2015).

I'm waiting with interest for you to report back from your June Maasdam cruise, because we are doing the same itinerary the end of August/early September:)

Thank you. It may be a blessing if we dock, then I could possibly use my scooter. If we tender, I'll have to use my walker, which limits where I go.

  13. We docked in Sitka last fall on the Statendams last Alaskan cruse. Took the bus into town and met up with a wildlife excursion which was awesome. The best part was at the end of the tour they brought us right back to the ship on their boat. :)

    Rockfan2

Interesting, we were on the Statendam last year and we tendered in. Sailed in July
