Whip out your screenshot of the T&Cs and show them the part where it says you can have unlimited appetizers…
That's the funniest post on this thread all day.
How subtlety subversive
-
So, no, NCL does not get to make up the rules as they go along, or according to how the waiter somewhere thinks it should be done. If they want to change the rules, they first have to change the terms and conditions.
So when I get on the ship next year and everyone refuses my multiple appetizer request, what do I do?
-
Curious about this, because it is still listed as an option in the SDP terms and in the current promo terms. Did you actually eat there and get charged full price (despite asking to use your SDP), or is this what the staff told you would happen if you ate there?
If I wanted to use my SDP to eat a lot of sushi I would insist that they respect the stated terms of the offer.
Would the current T&C of the promo as it stands now apply for a 2017 sailing if they change the words later this year?
I have a copy saved for printing next year and it clearly says
"Guests who have purchased a Specialty Dining Package and wish to dine at one of the following venues will be charged an Upcharge instead of the full cover charge or a la carte price: [...] Sushi**$7"So when I sail next year can I fight for my AYCE sushi for $7?
-
This is quite the conspiracy...
-
They are not changing the rules. Before a la carte pricing, Ocean Blue was limited to one app, one entree, one dessert. The rule is still the same for SDP/UDP.
Really, it is plenty of food.
Where are the rules posted that it's different?
-
I can't for the life of me understand why someone would even ask this question of the hostess or waiter before ordering. I would just go ahead and order. At the end if they tried to charge me for the multiples, I'd mention that I was never told that, nor was it written anywhere, and ask them to show me.
(I am going to play the part of the negative person here because I want to get this all cleared up before we sail)
The T&Cs say..
https://www.ncl.com/specialty-dining-package/faq
Charges will apply for additional main course orders. So is this one of those cases of it being assumed multiple apps and desserts can be ordered because the NCL page only says main courses have additional charges? No where does it say multiple other courses can be ordered free of charge but it also does not say multiple other courses ordered will have a charge.
So inclusion by omission of it not being spelled out in the contract?

Every single report from every single person that has sailed since Oct. 27 when the a la carte menus were introduced, with the exception of 1, say that you can have unlimited apps, sides, desserts with SDP. That has been my personal experience, as well.
The reports coming off the Breakaway now say Ocean Blue limits you to one of everything.
-
On Breakaway now. Ate at Ocean Blue last night. Definitely only one app, one entree and one dessert. Confirmed by both hostess and waiter. Great meal, still plenty of food. We thought it was worth the $15 upcharge over the SDP.
Ahhh!!
Two posts one after another with conflicting information.

The greatest mystery in all of cruising..
-
Has anyone been able to order multiple apps on the Breakaway?
-
I haven't seen the threads discussing the "one of each category" limit,
It was this thread:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=49404439#post49404439
He was able to get the all of apps and stuff at all other joints except Ocean Blue, which made me start to wonder if special rules apply only there.
-
OCean Blue is not included in the Dining plan.,but you will receive a 20% discount. And it is one of each course and side dish.
It's a $15 upcharge:
https://www.ncl.com/specialty-dining-package/faq
So yes, it's not included in the "free" ones but it is included for a cheap price.
-
Not the Seafood Extravadanza thing, just the regular menu.
From what i am reading, with the SDP at the specialty restaurants, you get as many appetizers and desserts as you want, and one entree per person, but in some recent threads folks are saying at Ocean Blue, and only Ocean Blue, you are limited to one of everything.
So is this the case or are servers just preventing people from ordering?
-
So now I'm confused, if you get there at 8:15am you could still get #19 boarding pass?
Yup. It's completely random for the underclass. You get in line and whatever check in person you end up with is what group you get. What time you show up really has no bearing on what boarding group you end up with.
-
Don't run anyplace for Vibe Beach Club pass because NCL will sell it out months before your planned cruise and notify no one that unavailable until you hurry to the dock run to crowded elevator step on people and be stepped on to be told sold out. If NCL would like to use arrangement of selling out before time TELL US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beware of accessibility person.
Say what now?

Do you know how much you paid in gratuities for it? With that information you could probably work backwards and figure out how many nights the promo is for.
Not sure if this is relevant, but we booked a 7-night in December and got four meals. So I would assume you got at least 8.
SDP and UBP for 2 people on a 14 night (plus a child so I dont think that counts):
Choice Promotion Service Charge: $385.20
-
How do I know what mine is? We booked back in January for 14 night and the NCL website just says:
Specialty Dining Package
Dining Package - Promo
Nothing about the number of nights included.
-
If you have the UDP, then you will just pay the upcharge of $17.70 pp. The a la carte pricing will not apply. However, they will point out that you can order one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert. It was more than enough food!
Other threads have said that the only limitation is the entree but you can have as many apps as you want... which way does it go now?
-
Don't waste $$ on sundaes at osheeahans. Just get ice cream from the buffet.
Ice cream is an upsell there?
-
When making a reservation at one of the upsell joints can you request to get a seat on The Waterfront and wait extra if you want to be able to sit outside or is it all just luck?
-
I think it's no different than most large cruise ships... if you want three chairs right by the pool and in the sun, be prepared to get up at 6 AM and attempt to hog.
Or just show up whenever you want and toss the chair hogs stuff aside and claim yourself a nice chair.
-
x2, I'm not really sure why it wouldn't be easier to do just that. I can't imagine anyone being so time constrained that they need to take a shower instantly after a workout in order to be going somewhere afterwards cleaned up.
On the smaller ships they have a shower area, nice locker room, and a steam room. Steam room was pretty great.

I am looking for something similar to what we did in Cozumel, it was a snorkeling boat tour, so similar to what many people do here, but then stopped for a bit at a stretch of beach and folks went ashore to hang and relax before for going back. While on board the ship the crew cooked lunch.
Does anyone know of anything like that on Barbados? A sailing adventure of sorts, sailing, snorkeling, fishing, and a beach. We're not looking for a wild party boat or anything like that, just a bunch of things combined.

Cherry Grey Goose and Diet Pepsi.
Boozy carb free Cherry Pepsi.
and repeat.
Over and over and over.
