  1. OK....so we booked the Conquest again for Feb 8, 2009!!! We had such great time last year we want to go again. I wanted to book it for the week of my birthday in Jan. but the ship will be in dry dock for the last 2 weeks of Jan 2009. So we changed to Feb. and hopefully the ship will be all nice and shiny after be in dry dock for 2 weeks. We would love for some family to join us. Any one interested in going??

Texas Diver.....we would love to go with you in Dec 2008, but we both work for the USPS and we are not able to take vacation time in Dec.

  2. Annette,

You will really enjoy the Conquest. We were there in Sept. and had a great time. The ports are wonderful.

We are thinking of going again, but it is a toss up between the Conquest and the Victory out of San Juan. We are thinking Jan 2009.

I can't decide which one I want to go on. We have never been to the Southern Caribbean, but airfare is going to be expensive.

  3. Hi Postalgrrl,

We lived in North Richland Hills and we worked in Irving for GTE (now Verizon) about 10 years ago. We met in Irving before moving to Idaho). Have you ever eaten at the Italian Garden? It's my all time favorite Italain resturant. Best Chicken Picatta I've ever had!

    Take care.

    Vicki,

No we have never tried it, maybe we will tonight. We always have date night on Saturdays.

  4. Hey, if, after the January cruise, you decide that Olivia is worth the $$$'s there's already a couple of great cruises planned for early 2009.

What does Olivia have planned for 2009?? I looked at their website and could not find anything for 2009. We are always interested in an Olivia cruise, we just can't ever decide if it is worth the extra money.

  5. We have cruised on Royal Caribbean, NCL and Carnival. Jennifer I neither one like dressing up much, so we usually wear slacks and a polo or silk shirt. We even wear this on formal nights. I refuse to wear a dress! Eight years of catholic school was enough of wearing a dress! And nobody has ever said anything to us about how we are dressed.

Take a pair of khakis and go to the dining room. Dinner is one oft he best things about a cruise.

Also, we are cruising on the Carnival Conquest in 3 weeks and I plan on wearing jeans in the dining room a couple of nights

  6. I am planning a cruise with my partner, son and his g/f to Mexican Riviera out of s.ca.. Any info on the best ports and ships would be great. Doing a ton of reading and still can't decide.

    Thanks!

You should join us on the Carnival Pride Jan. 13, 2008 . It would be nice to have some family aboard :D . I haven't done any research on ports yet. I have been busy planning our Carnival Conquest cruise for Sept. 2007. The Mexican Riveria cruise stops in PV, Mazatlan and Cabo.

  7. We were thinking of cancelling our Carnival Pride cruise in Jan 2008 to take the Olivia cruise with k.d. lang. Then I read about the drawing and decided that doing a drawing for the concert was not fair ( I never win anything either  ). I agree they should have her do 2 concerts or find a different entertainer. So we decided to keep our reservation for the Carnival Pride in Jan. 2008.

  8. Hey Ladies,

Has anyone been to Calica?? I was trying to plan a nice day at the beach. Maybe some shopping and a good place to have dinner. Thanks for any information.

    shan9700:)

We stopped there, but spent the day at Xcaret. It was fun but I don't think I would go back to Xcaret. I would rather spend the day in Playa del Carmen.

The port is just a big gravel pit. So don't expect vendors and shopping right by the ship like in Cozumel. There is a taxi stand there and they will take you into Playa. I think our taxi to Xcaret was about $15.

  9. Hmm...hard question to answer!

They are famous for their Cerviche, their fajitas are great, I love the tilapia with rice and veggies...

maybe book the package with fajitas and ADD on stuff from the menu!

    :D:D:D:D

    I am NO help, huh?

I think this is a great idea!!!! I was thinking the same thing. :D

  10. We are planning on going to Playa Uvas on our Sept. cruise. I am so excited. How are the fajitas? burgers? We are thinking of doing the package that includes lunch. Which is better? The package that includes fajitas for lunch or just buy what we want from the restaurant??

  11. We just booked the Carnival Pride Mexican Riveria Jan 13, 2008.

It makes 3 stops Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan & Cabo.

Jennifer is calling it our "Love Boat" cruise. Everytime she does I hear the the theme song to the old tv show in my head :D .

    Anybody intrested in joining us??

We are now offically cruise junkies...we have 2 cruises booked at the same time and are thinking about Bermuda with Jennifer's parents in Sept. 2008.

  12. RVMamas,

If I remeber correctly you should sit on the left side of the train. My "in laws" rode the train when we all were on our Alaska cruise. Jennifer & I rented a car and drove to Emerald Lake. It was a great drive, beautiful scenery. Check on the Alaska boards you should find the answer there. Budget Queen answers most of the questions over there and she is the expert on Alaska.

  13. Has anyone had a balcony cabin on the Upper Deck(deck 6) of the Conquest?? I booked a guarantee balcony for our cruise in Sept. and now I'm getting a little nervous about the guarantee part. I usually book cabins on decks that have cabins on the decks directly above and below the deck I'm staying on. The Promenade Deck (deck 5), right below the Upper deck has the show lounge, casino, shops and bars on it. Should I upgrade to a higher deck?? I got I great deal on the guarantee balcony and I'm afraid that the price difference to upgrade is going to alot.

  14. just thought I would chime in with our info.

Stacie (43), Jennifer (38). We have been together 11 years and we both work for the post office. Jennifer is a mail carrier and I am a clerk.

Thankfully we don't work in the same building. If we did, we probably wouldn't still be together:p

  15. stayuso,

welcome to the boards. I am so jealous you are going on the Serenade. She is a beautiful ship. I would sail on here again in a minute. We sailed on her in 2004 to Alaska. I am looking at the Serenade for a Southern Caribbean maybe next year. But, Jen says we should do a land based vacation to France. She has a friend from college that is living there right now that we have not seen in a long time.

  16. louisianiagirl07, if you are asking about waiting to cruise until you are 18 so you can drink the carnival site states that you have to be 21 to be served alcohol on the ship. this is from the FAQ section of www.carnival.com.

Are there any age restrictions on board?spacer.gifDrinking Alcoholic Beverages: Guest must be 21 years of age or older to be served alcohol on board. Proper I.D. with birth date is required.

spacer.gifOf course that doesn't mean you can't go to Carlos n' Charlies or Senor Frog's in Cozumel;) ;)
