  1. Haha! ;) I did a little sleuthing and found some details about the location of the Cavern Club venue. Quote "During Norwegian Epic’s refit next September and October we will take out a blues and jazz club venue and recreate the Cavern in that space."

The entire article if you are interested.....

    http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/legendary-liverpool-cavern-club-takes-8131005

Lol....that was the bit I added to my previous post. We've been reading the same article! :)

  2. You're right that there will be a period from April through early October where offerings will be in flux. However, than can happen on other ships, as well, do to a change in production casts, especially on repositioning cruises. Usually the cruise director fills in with extra comedians or musical performers.

That said, something like Burn the Floor isn't really offered on Epic right now, so in that sense it's an added bonus. Priscilla Queen of the Desert is the replacement for BMG. Since it will be a 90-minute version of a Broadway show, that's a fair trade. The Beatles show is almost certainly a replacement for Fat Cats, and I think it's an upgrade, too.

My lingering question is whether there are going to be any changes to Cirque Dreams, Howl at the Moon and/or Legends in Concert. I would be highly amused if the Beatles venue is actually a replacement for the Spiegel Tent, for example. Time will tell.

Thanks for the reply........I wasn't sure I was reading it correctly! :o

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to see Priscilla, Queen of the Desert...looks like a lot of fun to me! I don't mind dancing, but DH isn't bothered so Burn the Floor won't appeal.....it didn't when we were on the Getaway, but it sounds like it will be different again on the Epic...which is good! :)

I LOVE the Beatles, so think that will be fab! And agree with you......it would be funny if the Beatles venue was the Spiegel Tent!!

I just hope that the entertainment....whatever it may be......is as good as our last Epic trip in 2012, and not lacking because NCL are in the middle of changes. Again, only time will tell.

    I just read this http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/legendary-liverpool-cavern-club-takes-8131005

and it says that they will take out a blues and jazz club and recreate the Cavern in that space.

  3. Does this mean no more Blue man group? ? Can't say I'm overly excited about burn the floor which seems to be the one on for our August 16 cruise (as looking like Priscila not on until October? !)

So am I reading the Press Release correctly? Nothing new, apart from Burn the Floor, by August 2015 sailings? Think I would rather have seen BMG again, but nice to see NCL changing things about. :)

  4. Hi,

I have tried to search the thread for my question, but can't seem to locate it. Does anyone have information for disembarkation for Venice from a Holland America cruise ship? Specifically, what exact pier will it be, and what time would we expect to get off the ship, which arrives the day before? We have booked a private vaporetto to our hotel due to mobility issues. Also, can anyone direct me to Tiggerman101's review? I heard it is amazing, but it won't pop up in a search. Thank you.

Sorry I can't help with the disembarkation from a Holland America ship but I CAN point you in the direction of the review you are looking for! :)

  5. I agree that the show was fab. As for the meal, it was ok...beef and shrimp....but it kind of distracted me from what was going on. But we felt the show alone was worth the upcharge....you can always eat again later! ;)

We had floor-level seating and it was great....super views of the stage.

Enjoy.....oh and (early!) happy birthday greetings! :)

  6. Last week on the Breakaway, we had planned to purchase 4 bottles from the mid level of this package because we like the Robert Mondavi Chardonnay, but it isn't available anymore. It has been replaced by Simi. We asked if the new wine was available by the glass at the bar so that we could taste it before we purchased it, but it isn't available by the glass or the bottle anywhere on the ship, so we ended up buying the Mondavi by the single bottle.

Some of the other wines have also changed, so if you planned to purchase this package for a specific wine, you may want to check the list to make sure it's still available.

Would you happen to have that list at all? Thank-you :)

  7. Can anyone tell me how the hairdryers are on the Getaway. Not packing mine would be more room in the suitcase.

One week from today, we are sailing! YAY!!

    Thank you in advance.

Well I found the hairdryer to be perfectly fine, but I only have very short hair and literally only use it to DRY my hair, not style it. But all-in-all it was more than adequate. Hope that helps and enjoy the Getaway! :)

  8. Hi

I really love your review and finally your photos. We have been looking at this cruise for next Feb. after reading your review I believe this will be our next cruise . Thanks so much a great review loved your pictures. Missed the ones in the sun red and all , Believe me you have company on that I like the shade better.:D Glad you had a great cruise.

    jewel time soon

    kruise kat:)

Thanks for reading. Glad you enjoyed it. But sorry, I can't be persuaded to inflict on the lovely folks of CC, my humidity hair and unbecoming red face........not happening!! ;)

I like the sun....except when it colours me beetroot!! :o

Enjoy your Jewel cruise and I hope you get to enjoy the Getaway one day too. :)

  9. Here in Britain it has paid us dividends in the past to book airfare asap.

We plan on taking the Epic out of Barcelona next August........I can only cruise in school holidays....peak time/price! :(

We booked flights last week at (what WE considered ) a reasonable price.....that price has ALREADY gone up by £30! I know it seems crazy that the airline will have our money all that time in advance, but I'm not convinced we would get a better deal by waiting......and anyway, I'm impatient to get the cruise fever going and this way.....well I can!! ;)

  10. Just thought I'd add our Viva Vino list from the Getaway on the 9th August. Whilst the prices remain the same as in don't-use-real-name's post, some of the wines I noticed are different. Hope this helps! :)

Sorry folks, I've had to add a link rather than the photo.....couldn't seem to upload a decent-sized version! :(

  11. Yes I agree , there are some great pics in this review Thank you MeltingMoments for answering my question about the waterfalls area ( nice pic of it ):)

    You're very welcome! Glad the link worked, I'm a little technically-challenged!! :o

Sorry to roger001 for butting in! :D

  12. Great photos of this ship.....Thank you so much. Did you happen to notice how deep the water is in the waterfalls area, which I believe is in the Spice H2O area ..... I mean can people actually stand under it and sit down ( or is it like only 2 inches deep ) ? 60 days and I ll be aboard !!! Thanks

This link might give you a bit of an idea about the waterfall area. It was my favourite area to cool down on our recent trip, but I clearly spent WAY too much time cooling down and not enough time taking pictures, as I only seem to have one!! :o

There is no deep water in the area and yes, you can stand under it and sit around. There are raised bench-like areas at the back and all around the edge of it. Hope this helps......and that the link works!

  13. Hi there! I ordered some flowers, cake and wine for our stateroom to be delivered on the departure day. Does anyone know when it will arrive? Will it be in the room by the time we get to it? Thank you!

Both times that I ordered gifts for the room.....on two different ships.....it was in our cabin on arrival. Enjoy!

  14. Anyone just get off the Getaway? What movies were they showing on board? We leave on Saturday and just trying to get a feel of what we may be seeing?

Frozen was on in the Getaway theatre on our sailing (9th August) , plus Monsters University at Spice. Also Cloudy with Meatballs in the Atrium.

Also The Hobbit in Spice, Gravity in Spice and The Nut Job, also in Spice.

Hope this helps. Enjoy the Getaway....she's fantastic!! :D
