  1. Didn't think I would get the Ultra invite since I didn't get 7500 points during 1,of my 3 premier cruises in November, January and March. Was pleasantly surprised and booked the Freedom for December 9th.

  2. Live from the Miracle. Spotted at breakfast and lunch rush with tables at a premium:

One person at a table for 4 enjoying his/her coffee while reading or playing with phone.

Tables for four or six with dominoes, cards or chess going on.

Again, this was during the breakfast or lunch rush with people trying to find a place to sit and eat.

Is this you? If so, may the bluebird of happiness leave a large deposit on your head.

    Dan

Yes this could be me on my solo cruise. Sitting at a table drinking coffee and playing with my phone. So what? Should I not be able to sit there because you want it ? Tell you what, get up earlier and maybe you can have it. Or if there are truly no more, tables available, ask nicely and sit down.

  3. 25 of us went on the Vista for a family cruise that included 5 birthdays. 14 of have previously sailed with Carnival on between 2 and 6 cruises. The Vista was not anyone's favorite. We all preferred the smaller ships, all classes. If you choose to read on, I will begin with the good, then follow with the disappointments.

As usual, the Carnival staff can't be beat! From Matt Mitchum, the cruise director, to the di ing room staff, the room stewards, and everyone you passed by during the day, Carnival employees are always friendly and welcoming. (More than I can say for RCCI)

The prominade deck (5) was wonderful, with ample, comfortable seating always. The Private Havanna area looked beautiful, from a distance! It was decorated plushly Caribbean, had its own pool and hot tub.

The cabins and bathrooms seem to be larger than usual, both balcony and inside.

The homemade ice cream was a treat each day, and the home brewed beer on the interior of deck 5 was excellent.

The IMAX theater was amazing and they had 4 different showing each day, 2 movies, 2 shorter films.

Guys Pig and Ancher was good.

The bartenders in the casino, the Alchemy Bar and the Red Frog Pub, inside on deck 5, were excellent.

    On the other hand:

The location of the casino is ridiculous. You have to walk through the smoke filled casino in order to get to or from the teen club! The always open entryway to the casino in right below the open atrium to deck 5, and the smoke drifts up into that area.

The Marketplace Buffet is large because it has many tables. Very little food area! And very little choice of foods! On all other Carnival ships, there is akways a wide selection of foods, salads, desserts. Not on the Vista! We were shocked at how scaled back the buffet was.

The white tile floor in the Marketplace is very slippery. It doesn't natter what shoes you are wearing, sneakers, sandals, flip flops, you have to be very careful walking!

The bartenders on deck 10, Tides Bar and Red Frog Pub, were terrible! They did not take drinks in order, sometimes served a drink other than the one ordered, and took a very long time serving. There were no staff walking around the Liso deck taking orders, as usual. You had to go to the bar each time you wanted a drink, and then wait for poor service.

The shows were spectacular, in costume, but mediocre, at best. Not as good as on smaller ships. Flic, in particular, had a long, boring introduction that turned many audiences off so badly that they left before the actual show. (Which was good)

I have a cruise booked on the Magic in two months and hope that it is as great as all of my previous Carnival cruises.

Thanks for the, review. I also prefer the smaller ships. The Breeze has,so far been my least favorite of the 9 Carnival ships I've been on so probably will not like the Vista . Although I live 30 minutes from Galveston I am considering going to Florida in the Fall of 2018 rather than sail Vista.

  4. i will turn platinum on my upcoming vista cruise. i have a quick question about the priority tender. we have a tender to grand cayman. do we just go to the show room where the people with excursions meet to get off early. or do we have to go to guest services. and do they leave paperwork in your stateroom telling you your options to get off the ship in a tender port with priority status.

Not all ships meet in the same place for priority tendering. The night before your tender port you will get a letter telling you where and when to meet.

  5. I cruised on the Liberty twice in 2016 including the October 27th cruise that blew an engine after we went full speed to make up time since we had to go back to Galveston an hour after sailaway because a passenger broke her ankle, dancing on Lido. The Liberty has the best crew I've experienced in 15 Carnival cruises on 9 different ships. The Alchemy bar is awesome and so is the Steakhouse. Enjoy your cruise.

  6. I have a question on this topic. We are cruising on the Breeze in July and have always done the steakhouse as a couple the first night and gotten the free bottle of wine. This time there may be two other couples joining us. Does each couple get the free wine? Or is it per table? Or per check???

They do it by reservation. So if you're at the, same, table it may only be 1 bottle. I have never been with more, than 1 other person, but have had others, tell me they only got 1 bottle at a table for 4.

  7. I was on this cruise. Yes there were some things that were less than ideal. I can understand how you may be disappointed but there are some inaccuracies in your account. First of all weather happens, we made it Cozumel at 2pm I was personally off the ship at 2:15 , we didn't have to come back until 7:30 many announcements were made about this I heard it in my cabin while in the bathroom. The ride was rocky, I waould describe it more as swaying, there were some passengers who eere sea sick, more than on usual cruises but I didn't see any one throwing up in hallways or anywhere else. We were late coming back on Monday but Carnival gave everyone with the Cheers program free drinks unrltil 3 pm az they did to those with the Drinks on Us,card from the casino.

I had a good cruise, yes there were things that were different than my previous 13 Carnival cruises. I choose to have a good attitude and just hang out with others who were like minded. Some people were not. I avoided the Guest Service area because I knew, there, would be people complaining and demanding compensation, even of a future credit. Witnessing that would have made my cruise a bad cruise. I'm glad I chose to cruise the,way I did.

Not going to try to convince you to give it another try because honestly some people really shouldn't cruise. Good luck woth your next vacation.

  8. Thank you for the reply,

I do understand the cruise is a cashless system, but I would like information about when cash would need to be put on the account and if at all.

I need an answer about if at the time of boarding I must put cash down at boarding or or can be this done later in cruise. There will not be much charged to the account. Thanks!

No you can wait until you board. But it's way easier and faster to do it when you get your sail and sign card, at least in Galveston. That's when I either do cash or give my credit card.

  9. Hmm... that's not what I was told when I called last week about a possible no-show. I was told that if a passenger is just a no-show, NONE of the fare or taxes are refundable. If cancelled within a few days of sailing, you lose the fare portion but taxes and port charges would be refunded because they weren't used. Once sailing day arrives, that passenger is on the ship manifest and if they no-show, too bad.

No port charges and fees are 100% refunded for a no show as are pre paid gratuity . I did it last year and have to do it again in October since my cruise mate can't get off work. Thankfully both have been casino offers so no big deal.
