I too have been reading this thread with interest whilst glued to the BBC live coverage. http://www.bbc.co.uk/go/em/fr/-/news/world-europe-24104741
Thank you all for the interesting and informative posts. I find this whole salvage operation fascinating.

Absolutely loving the towel animal pictures. I would have liked to have seen that for real. Great fun!

Thank you for bringing to life your voyage experience. I know this takes a lot of time. We're on this ship next year for our Baltic journey and have sailed on it last year through the Caribbean.
I noticed this is your first post. Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Cruisemom. So sorry to trouble you - when I couldn't find said email I realised I'd given you the wrong email address. Please could you re-send the notes for Herculaneum to:

You must have endless patience with these requests. Thank you so much for all your contributions to these boards.

Half Moon Cay is HAL's beautiful private island. The only independent option is to walk and discover for yourself. It's small and everything you spend (on souvenirs, drinks etc.) is charged to your on board account.
Don't know about the other places but the Ports of call board or your Roll Call would be a better place to ask.
Have a great cruise.

We were in Alaska this last June the weather was great and the Mosquitos enormous and feasting on us in places where we'd missed with a 50% DEET spray! I don't think it's worth the risk NOT to take the spray.

Cruise trail, thank you so much for this thread. I've learned a lot, including about our aft cabin on Eclipse for our first X cruise next May.

It is NOT gentle. The clothes are washed in HOT water in commercial machines and are dryed in HOT commercial dryers.
...
I don't know where you get that idea from. When we did the'Behind the scenes' tour we were told that all the laundry is sorted by colour and they check the wash labels for recommended temperature etc. and wash accordingly. HAL takes very good care of passengers' laundry but it's a person's individual choice as to whether they send their clothes to the ship's laundry service or not. Personally I have no complaints, everything has always come back in pristine condition either pressed and on hangars or neatly folded in tissue in a basket.
