  1. Booked a Nov 11 Splendor Premier Cruise out of Sydney. First premier made note of the post stating packed casino. This cruise may have wait lines at the machines as it is also a Brian Christopher Cruise. Long waits but I still plan on having fun. As Brian says it is all in the timing.

This list is incredible!! Any chance it has been updated with new Prima bars/drinks? 😉

Sorry I have not updated it with the NCL Prima. I have not had the opportunity to sail on the new ship, We did NCL Breakaway twice in the last 6 months,  Glad that you appreciated the list.

I like tweaking drinks on the menu to see how a change impacts the flavor. One of my go to's is changing a Moscow Mule from Vodka to Crown. Although I think Crown is now a plus charge.

I enjoy the Kentucky Mule - Bourbon instead of vodka with an orange slice

  4. We used Rony prior to the pandemic with a family of 8 ages 12 to 70. We highly recommend him. The grandkids loved the sloths and monkeys. We brought soccer balls to donate to the school. They were very much appreciated.

So jump ahead 2+ years and it’s 2022.  Just wondering if you did the Guatemalan Rum excursion, and what you thought of it? We are cruising Holland America in April, and thought it sounded interesting. Would you recommend it?

Yes did the excursion. We really enjoyed it. We did have difficulty getting there as there was road construction and we sat in traffic not moving for over 30 minutes.

  6. Thanks. I should have returned to this thread after our cruise. We changed our NCL Epic TransAtlantic to November 2021. We did book a tour with Diogi's Madeira Island Taxi. He was a great guide with excellent English. Madeira is beautiful. Our tour was 80 Euro for 4 hours. The tour is for 1-4 people. His van was very comfortable and he was an excellent driver. Would definitely book him again.

1st timer NCL cruiser here: I have a (probably stupid) question:

We have the free at sea drinks package (not the plus). Are the "hot cocktails" (the coffee, tea and hot chocolate based ones) included in that package or do they cost extra? I am confused on that point.

The snowplow looks amazing (and perfect for a glacier day drink)... need to figure out the budget.

The eligibility of the "hot cocktails" vary from ship to ship. I have found them more available on the Alaskan cruises. Other times I have had to order coffee and a shot (Bailey's, Kahlua, or whatever) and create my own.

For budget purpose any beverage $15 or less is included with your plan. If a beverage is more than $15 you will pay the difference plus gratuity on the difference.

Much prefer the Aperol lSpritz as made on MSC ships, FWIW.

for my next voyage, a 15 day TA, I think I cam do a lot of damage to this list 😉 starting with a Ciao Venezia for sail away (although we’re not departing from Venice, I think Civitavecchia is close enough for purpose)

We are on the NCL Epic TA, November 20, also. Counting the days. I'll join you for the sail away beverage. See you soon.

  9. Looking through these 31 pages of cocktails, I realized there were many that I have never tasted before. Since our next cruise begins in Italy, I have decided that I want to make sure to try an Aperol Spritz.

What Cocktail would you like to try for the first time.

Thank you, I wouldn't have known where to start otherwise

I always talk with the Casino Manager in advance (usually on embarkation Day) to let them know the plans (date, time and anticipated number) and ask for suggestions. This is also when I ask if the casino will be willing to donate something for the slot-pull. Best not to mention the side pot. There have been times that the manager has told me the machine that I wanted to use would not be available at that time because of the number of participants and a different machine was suggested.

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me.  I am organising my first ever slot pull on the NCL Epic does anyone have any recommendations on which machine to pick?

I have organized several slot pulls on NCL. I agree the wheel of fortune machine works great. A max pull of $3 or $5 works best. An entry fee of $20 is the usual amount. I usually do $15 into the machine and $5 into a side pot. The person that had the largest win on a single pull wins the side pot. The casino usually donates a bottle of wine that goes to the second highest. After all pulls have been completed a vote is taken to cash out and split the amount left or continue.

This is the way that I plan on running the slot pull on our April TA on the Epic. There is information on the spreadsheet.
