  1. I'm not sure how all cruiselines work with insurance but I had this happen with NCL. I got there coverage for cancel for any reason at the 75% amount. I did cancel for a noncovered reason. I filed and it took 2 or 3 months for NCL to let me rebook. When I went to rebook I had picked either a guarantee or a sailaway. Anyway, they said I had to book a cabin that had a number on it or I couldn't use my reimbursement. Just a heads up for anyone who needs to know. I'm sure it is in the small print somewhere, but I didn't look.

  2. Just received a decline for NCL Bliss for August 4th out of Seattle. Bid on inside stateroom to ocean view at $50 and balcony stateroom at $210

You can guess which one I was gunning for - no worries it will still be a great cruise!

I'm going on August 11th. Your cruise was sold out pretty fast. The 11th is too. We made some bids but not expecting anything from what I have heard.

  3. Because of this thread and the fact that I own a full face mask, I decided to do some more research. I stumbled on some great YouTube videos discussing proper usage and why people are having issues with them. One video illustrated how the mask works - co2 and oxygen flow through different tubes. What I got from these videos is that these masks are meant for light use, they are not intended for intense activities where you may experience heavy breathing, and that inferior ,aka knock-off brands may not be built right to ensure proper removal of co2.

I will continue to use this mask and am grateful for the information. I suggest researching the brand to ensure that it is designed properly, watching some videos, and spending some time at home getting comfortable walking around in your mask.

I'm thinking they were knock off brands, or maybe not, but seriously, people need to know this. Thank you!

  4. Yes. They had to pull me out. Embarrassing but better than drowning.
I went back and read what I wrote. I was whale watching in Dominica and snorkled with Windwood in Bonaire. They had great reviews, so I thought it was just me. Also, another woman had to be helped besides me on our tour. I wonder if it was the type of full face mask they had that was a problem? That makes at least 3 of us with the same problem.

Yes, I agree, better than drowning but very scary! Thanks for your reply.

  5. I have snorkeled several times with regular gear and bought a Seaview 180 full face mask. First few times I used it was in still water with no problems. Third time was in Bonaire in rough water and current. Found myself hyperventilating and panicing. I have sinus problems and tend to breath thru my mouth. Consequently, in retrospect I believe I experienced the problems some experience with CO2 buildup in the full face mask. Have now gone back to regular mask and snorkel.
Do you remember which company you snorkled with? Was it Woodwind?

I was in rough water too. I think I had the same problem.

  7. Hahaha --

Thanks Cruzinmama for asking the question...

I was just coming to this site to ask the same thing ...

I will now scroll through the additional posts & hope someone has the answer...

Cheers & Happy Friday All -- Von

I never got an upgrade, but people on here say to check to see if your credit card has been charged for it. If it has, you probably got it.

  8. Hi all! This is our first cruise on NCL, and my first cruise in nearly 20 years!

I just put in a bid (exactly at 80 days, I'm eager) for an H7. I'm afraid it's a bit too low, so I'm hoping that ship capacity, being hurricane season, may be lower.

ANYWAY! My question is, am I able to bid on 2 upgrades at once? Has anyone ever done this before? If so, is it possible for both bids to be accepted? I cannot decide between the two options, and I kind of want to leave it to fate if one is accepted... :o:o:o

You can bid on more than one. If you win, NCL will award you only one and you won't know which one until you hear from them. You won't be able to change what they give you. I hope this helps. Good luck!!

  9. Rather than the balcony sticking out from the ships superstructure and having a railing, the balcony is contained within the ship and the rail is steel and solid. The view out is through an opening in the ships structure.

  10. Searching through the old thread, it looks like there have been a few upgrades won on the Bliss. I know a TON of people won upgrades on the Trans Atlantic, but they only sail at about 60% capacity for the inaugural TAs, so there was plenty of room to upgrade. It seems like the current Alaskan Bliss cruises are selling out, which means upgrades are far less likely (though not impossible due to last minute cancellations and such). I would say, if you are sailing on the Bliss in the near future, go ahead an book the stateroom you want outright, because upgrades will be few and far between.
Thanks for your answer. So far that I have seen the Bliss has been totally booked on all the Alaskan sailings.

  11. You and Janice will love Alaska. We have gone on two Alaska cruises, one 5 years ago with our friends and last August with my son from Chicago and my daughter-in-laws' family. In Skaway, they have a train that goes up the mountain. It is a little expensive but it is worth the money. I have a niece that has been living in Nome for the last 7 years. She is moving back to Wisconsin in Sept. She is an eye doctor.

I have been to Alaska too. It is beautiful! We booked the new NCL Bliss. Looking forward to both!
