Kiwi-Sparkles, We won't be there until Dec 16. Also a Sunday.  Believe I checked and they are open on Sundays.  Am sure most beach bars open if ships in port.  When are u there in Dec?

    Jane

Whoops - I misread and thought you were there in October!

Looks like we will be there on the same day - also the 16th.   We are on Celebrity Silhouette.

I am going to check out Rascals north of port on Brandons Beach. Seems to be there by itself.

Hi Jane - what did you think of Rascals?

We are considering this for our cruise in December as we are there on a Sunday and had originally planned to visit Mt Gay Rum Distillery and wander about town, but it seems like a lot of places are shut!  Now thinking we might head here and hang out for the day.

  3. I've read that most shops are closed on Sundays, but also read (albeit a very old post) that in the run up to December a lot of places are open.

We'll be there Sunday 16th December, so only a week from Christmas.  Is there any point in us heading into the town to have a look around, or should we just find a beach bar to hang out at?

    Thanks!

We have booked AQ for Alaska. What is the dress code for breakfast in Blu?

I understand dinner- no shorts, no jeans. But what about before we jet off to our excursions? Usually I would wear jeans... acceptable?

Jeans are fine - even for dinner.  I often wear jeans in the evening (not ripped ones) with a smart top, as does my OH.

Breakfast it would be no problem at all.... unless things have changed in the 2 years since we were last onboard, and I doubt it.

Yes eggs Benedict is on the new Blu menu.   I think the asparagus frittata is also new.  Sadly Muesli is no longer made table side. It’s still excellent but I preferred looking at all of the options to put on it.

Hooray for the Eggs Bennie !  That has made my day.  I might branch out and try the salmon benedict if I'm feeling really adventurous!

  6. It's been a couple of years since we sailed Celebrity and the menu seems to have changed in Blu since our last cruise.

I've found links to the revised dinner menu, but does anyone have a link to the breakfast menu?  I saw someone mention Eggs Bennie is on there now?   If so, I will be in heaven!

  7. Does anyone know easy it is to get to Pink Plantation House?  We've made lunch reservations for 12.30, and I'm guessing we will need to arrange a taxi.

Not sure how much that is likely to cost, and whether we should try and book a taxi in advance?

    Thanks!

  8. Can anyone advise what time we should arrive at the port?

I am asking because yesterday someone was flamed for turning up at 10 or 10:30 who then came on here complaining that they didn't board for two hours. Posters were saying they should have known better because no one arrives that early.

Today I searched boarding times in various other posts and majority of people say don't worry what docs or website says, go early, get there for 10:30 or 11am!!

Needless to say I'm confused. We've not sailed Princess before and are not sure what is "normal". I think our hotel checkout is 11am so had originally planned on heading straight to the port.

  9. I'm pretty sure OP is asking about the Royal Princess.

OP - Regarding the smell on some balconies - we had issues on 2 days in an Owners Suite (on Dolphin deck) during a December 2013 cruise but I haven't seen any comments on it recently so hopefully the problem was fixed.

Thanks, yes I was talking about Royal Princess.

Hopefully the smell was just a one off in that case!

  10. Apologies all, I have been trawling this forum all morning (I'm usually over on Celebrity as I've not sailed Princes...yet) trying to find cabin info. Admittedly I'm using tapatalk which makes things trickier when searching!

Can anyone point me to how I can find what balconies are covered vs uncovered? I believe many of the aft cabins are uncovered, or partially uncovered, but think I also saw somewhere that there's often a terrible smell which stops people from using them!! [emoji15]

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you [emoji4]

  11. Ah, that explains why Miami Immigration was such a dream last month. My husband has assistance and, although we saw the machines, we were taken to the normal "special assistance" Immigration desk. We were through in no time. Shame about the weather on the other side.

It does explain why the Immigration Officer was clearly feeling less pressured and had a pleasant interaction with us.

We used the machines on our last cruise in December 14. Sadly still had to queue for an hour. Didn't make the process any faster for us, although may have been down to number of flights landing around the same time.

  12.

We want to sail to the British Isls in July from London. Never been to London and would like to spend several days before the cruise. Unfortunately, only the Caribbean Princess sails from London. Celebrity goes out of Amsterdam. We have been to Amsterdam numerous times and we were looking forward to seeing London.

As I think another poster has said, Princess doesn't depart from London. We have no cruise terminals as we are land locked. Smaller lines such as Seabourn do come up the Thames and dock in the city, but not ships as large as Princess.

You will be leaving from Southampton. Trains from London take around 1 hour 20 mins+ to get to Southampton.

  13. just been checking 2c sweet sixteen cabins on cel us and uk site with the uk site coming in at hundreds of pounds cheaper than the us this is for oct/nov 2017 and april 2018 sailings Unfortunately no perks and if you book in the uk I dont think you can add on at a later date if they become available?

That's interesting. I thought I was looking at the UK site until I noticed prices were in USD. Our last two cruises were booked direct with Celebrity UK, but our upcoming 2016 cruise was booked via a US agent. It seems now that the "My Celebrity" section of the website thinks we are US based! I've no idea what the UK prices are for the 2017 releases.
