  1. LOL - DH and I both think Bacchus is the ugliest dining room afloat.:D However, we've never booked for the decor.

We're flying to Seattle a week from today - like you, we're planning to spend a few days touring ahead of the cruise. How did you find the Mt. Rainier tour? That sounds like a great way to spend a day.

Thanks for sharing your review - I'm looking forward to more!

and I love the Miracle for its decor. Yeah its over the top but its so fantasy filled and fun!

  2. Hi Everyone!

I am going to take my Mom on a cruise at the beginning of December.

Considering the Fantasy and the Fascination since they are the closest ships to my Mom in Roanoke, Va.

I have been on the Fascination, never on the Fantasy

Would love to get some feedback/ideas...

    crew?

    lounges?

    shows?

the itineraries are pretty much the Nass/Freeport ones.

    Thanks!

  3. Barb,

Your review is fantastic! I was going to do one myself again, but I really dont need to - you are doing great here!

I too am having some withdrawals and your review sure does help.

Looks like me and Shawn are gonna be back on a ship in August (most likely either the Sunshine from Orlando or Pride from Baltimore) and then me and my Mommy are gonna take one in the beginning of December on the Ecstasy going to Key West & Cozumel.

I really hope we get to sail again together! I thought you were fantastic, not to mention we are birthday buddies!!

  4. Follow Jammans advice.. straight to excursion desk when you board!

they told us #11 but when we checked in at the hut on hmc they had us in #10.. and I am super glad they did.. I enjoyed every minute of my day and we were able to share with our new friends we made so we had our own shindig.. lol.. it was a lot of fun! Also they helped keep away the moochers!

best money spent.. also 10 has a hammock that was in the shade most of the day too.. close to bathrooms and trail to go get FOOD!

I am so getting this next time we go!

  5. Best FOD meeting we ever had was on our first CCL cruise in January 2012 on the Fascination. Nothing really was going on our second on the Glory, not to mention we were kind of shy that trip due to the obscenely homophobic comments of some fellow passengers. We met a few folks at the FOD on the Miracle in 2013 and this past January on the Splendor there were a few folks, some crew at them most nights.

  6. Just wondering why you don't contact the Tuxedo people before the cruise and arrange for the tux to be in your cabin when you embark? We do this with my DH (who is large as well) We have learned to bring extra shirt that we know will fit as that is the one piece of the rental we have had problems with. That would solve the no tux problem if you really want to attend the Formal nights.

I cannot get a tuxedo rented from a cruise line in my size. I have tried on CCL and Royal. They just dont carry them in the size I need.

  7. As a man who is 400plus lbs, I always need a chair with no arms and the staff on the ship has always accommodated - MDR or Steakhouse.

I cannot do the stairs of the pool, but luckily I am not a pool person even if it has stairs, I do love the hot tub and always spend time there.

The shower in the cabin is not great for anyone, but for someone of exceptional size it a challenge, but its not that bad after one shower you figure out how you have to work it. The bathroom door is also a tight fit, but its not like I cannot make it in there.

In regards to the MDR I always tell the hostess when I walk in that I need something close because I dont want to ask 25 people to move out of my way and they always try to accommodate as well.

The wicker lido deck chairs i just fit into but if i stay too long in them I tend to get sore on my hips and I dont want to have aches and pains so I limit my time in those.

I have no issues with the loungers and love them, but as someone said earlier they can be really close. For that reason I spend alot of lounger time at Serenity.

I love cruising and I wouldnt worry - the crew is there to help you.

BTW - are you from Pennsylvania?

  8. Your post makes no sense , you suggest to take the E train but its a crappy line so why suggest it??? Besides the E train doesnt come from JFK the A train does.

I stand corrected, it is indeed the A, not the E - the A/C/E are all the blue line in Manhattan, with only the A and C in Queens.

I merely was giving options as ways to get into Manhattan and then my opinion was not to do that one.

I also have an opinion on snarky posts like yours.....but I think we will leave that for another day.
