  1. We were in Falmouth on March 15 on the Celebrity Reflection.  They did open the port area up to everyone onboard and said that this is a new thing.  Only those on ship sponsored shore excursions were permitted beyond the port area.  Margaritaville was open.  I noticed Dairy Queen was also open by I really didn't look for restaurants.  It appeared maybe half of the shops are open currently.

  2. I looked at the link flviking provided.  It states that pre-arrival testing is still required.

    • All travellers over the age of 5 must provide a negative result from a PCR or antigen-detecting rapid diagnostic test no earlier than the day before departure.

I see this as a big problem and logistical nightmare for visiting cruise ships.

  3. I hope Ellusionz doesn't mind me jumping on this post as well and asking another question to those in the know.  Is there a difference in an excursion to 'Resort World" and "Beach 360' or is it the same place?

  4. Wolf, I'm sorry to hear that you are not having a great experience.  Hopefully things will improve for you.

Regarding the passport issue - my wife and I got married over the summer.  She applied for a new passport with her new name in November and she had the new one in hand in about three weeks.  We have a cruise scheduled on the Reflection in March and were worried that we were pushing it with all the reports of backlogs.  We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly it was processed.

  5. I've been to the Margaritaville in Negril but not the one in Montego Bay.  The Negril location is located on a spectacular beach.  That said, the actual establishment is nothing like a Margaritaville in the States.  It doesn't have the same clean and commercial feel.  We had a great time it just wasn't what we expected.

Rick's Cafe is great fun.  The divers are unbelievable.

The biggest problem that I see is that the drive from Montego Bay to Negril is very unpredictable.  We've stayed at all-inclusive resorts on Negril and always flown into Montego Bay.  The drive can be as quick as an hour or as long as three or four hours each way.  We've been delayed by a funeral procession and a high school soccer game.  If the drive only takes an hour then you will have a great day.  If the drive goes poorly then you're spending a day in a bus.  Negril is one of my all-time favorite places but I personally wouldn't take the chance of Negril on a cruise.
