  1. I am hopeful that someone will have an answer to what has become an exasperating situation with Princess’ Customer Service.  I have spent hours on the phone on three separate days with their “Off Shore”  Customer Service.  The agents have not been able to answer my questions and the room they are talking from is so loud and noisy it is almost impossible to hear them.  We have 5 reservations for 9 people and have been trying to make Dining Reservations but their system doesn’t recognize two of the Reservation Numbers; even though everyone has made Final Payment.  We have been in touch with our Travel Agent and apparently all the numbers have been linked and yet Princess can’t “see” them.  Does anyone have a phone number or email address for someone “in charge”.  I am not new to cruising but most of my cruises has been with Holland America and I have only done one before now with Princess and at this rate it may be my last!  Thanking you in advance.

  2. Hi Jacqui:

Keith & I have been in Europe for a little over two weeks touring Switzerland and England….we have some time in London and Amsterdam and we’re really looking forward to the cruise and unpacking once!!  We have been following the thread for our cruise while we’ve been here trying to keep up with the very active boards.  We got a not great boarding time of 2:30 but will be at the sail-away with an envelope ready for you.  We really appreciate everything you’ve done!!

  3. Hi All :  In looking at the 2024 Europe cruises I noticed that Amsterdam isn’t being used….Rotterdam instead!  Any thoughts on whether they might switch the 2023 departures that are currently using Amsterdam?  We had our Sept/2022 cruise to Norway switched from Amsterdam to Rotterdam due to water levels.  We are booked on the Rotterdam for a TA in October, currently scheduled to depart from Amsterdam.

  4. The horror stories continue…..we flew from Lyon, France to Amsterdam to Calgary and our luggage was lost for three days with many many stories as to where it was.  The good news was that we were coming home; this was in October so it had begun then.  In April we were to fly to NYC through Toronto and our flight was cancelled the night before resulting in us booking a last minute flight at a horrible price.  In Toronto there was a four hour delay in our flight and we found out when we got to NYC that our luggage had sat in the rain.  We had four days before our TA so thanks to a great hotel with complimentary laundry we made it on with dry clothes,  The latest disaster was last week returning from a Celebrity Alaska cruise….our flight ended abruptly in Edmonton as the connecting flight was cancelled (we were going to Saskatoon ( SK).  I now have two claims in to the Airline involved, which should result in four $1,000.00 cash payments.  I am grateful for The Passenger Bill of Rights.

  5. Hello Shane:  I appreciate your positive attitude with the challenges of lost luggage; especially the laptop.   We are on the Gem on April 24th along with three other couples.  We are from Canada so will arrive in New York four days prior to the cruise - having to test twice but just so happy to get back to cruising. Could you tell me if Deck 7 (Promenade) is open to walk all the way around?  We are on a Transatlantic so there is need to exercise to offset the food and drinks!

Hope they find your bag soon and appreciate the tip about photographing the luggage.

Yap, we were disappointed to miss Ponta Delgada.  I researched the route and site pics of the excursion we were going to, they look beautiful.   We also felt bad for the tour operator we had signed up for.  He had lined up several vans, to take several groups of us.  We were going to pay cash (plus tip), but he also missed those income.  It must be really tough for them on the island.

Hi Middleager:  We also missed Ponta Delgado on our last Transatlantic; horrible winds.  We had been there before and it is a beautiful island.

I’m not sure that this is where I should be asking my question, but I will give it a try.  We are booked on a TA in April; NYC to Rome on the Gem.  There are 8 of us booked and somewhat nervous now given the rising Covid cases.  Can you tell me what happens on board if someone tests positive for Covid - are they isolated in their own cabin or are there quarantine cabins on the ship?  I read somewhere that on another Cruiseline that a person testing positive went from a balcony to the “dungeon”.  We’re all double vaccinated and have our boosters and not as worried about getting Covid as what life on a TA would be like if we tested positive.  Thanks for any information you have.

  7. We still haven’t received anything from HAL informing us of this cancellation and wouldn’t have known about it had I not checked on Cruise Critic today.  This is not the first time we have been left out of the loop by HAL but it will be the last.  Our experience with their customer service has been appalling.  I had enjoyed our cruises on HAL but we will be booking elsewhere from now on.

  8. Thanks Kazu:  I have logged in to HAL and they are still showing us on the Nieuw Statendam out of Rome.  I even tried booking a shore excursion on the website for a Cancelled Cruise and they’re allowing it even though the cruise is no longer available.  I have always enjoyed Holland America but the customer service I got yesterday was terrible - she was yawning so much and talking at the same time that I had to constantly ask her to repeat herself.  I’m waiting for a call back from our Travel Agent and hoping she will have more info.

  9. We were booked n the TA from Civitavecchia on Oct. 29th and received a cancellation email from HAL with the option of transferring to the TA on the Eurodam out of Venice on Oct. 18th;  translating into many changes to our three week vacation in Italy prior to our cruise.   We’re  willing to change everything we had booked, however, in speaking to “Customer Service” today it will be two weeks before they will even confirm if we have a cabin on the Eurodam.

  10. Greetings From Saskatchewan, Canada:

In reference to the topic of flu shots we have ample flu vaccine, free of charge and available through Pharmacies, Doctors and large clinics.  We are ableto make appointments even at the Pharmacies and all the paper work can be filled out online and thus avoiding line ups and congestion.  We are looking with envy to the Eastern part of our country where they are experiencing second summer....we just broke records for snowfall this weekend:
