  1. I have "cruised in Australian waters" and my cabin mate never had my status on her card.

The last time this happened to me was on Legend of the Seas- Jan 2015.

I'm cruising again with someone other than my husband in April, (ha ha that sounds dodgy- just a friend) so I'll keep my eyes peeled!

    Thanks for the heads up!

  2. Very simple. I went to the Pursers Desk (yes, I still call it a Pursers Desk; this is a cruise ship not Macy's small appliances) and politely asked for a meeting with the hotel director. The Purser asked what this was in reference to? I stated that I just incountered a very disturbing situation in the X lounge. I feel the seriousness of the situation warrants an audience directly with the HD. She said I'll have one of the restaurant managers contact you. My reply was courteous but insistent. I suggested that as an Elite Plus, the CC concierge might be able to make my request happen.

Within 15 minutes the HD met me in the atrium where we concluded, to my satisfaction, complaint.

Oh gosh. Why let something so tiny get to you?! I would think a 'very disturbing situation' would be more like someone breaking their leg & their bone protruding out of the skin. Not someone charging you for a Grey Goose vodka- when indeed, it isn't part of the package you had.

I guess everyone's view of the world is different.

  3. We did a tour there with RomeCabs. Oh my gosh it was AMAZING!

There was 8 of us, (found other interested people on our roll call) & the driver first took us to Pisa before the crowds got there, then to Florence.

He told us the best place to have lunch, (which it was!!!) & we walked around the town & I had the BEST gelato I've ever eaten.

One of my favourite days in Europe!!! (& we were there for 8 weeks!)

  4. Hi everyone. I haven't been on these boards for a while, so finding it tricky to negotiate my way around.

We've just booked on Celebrity Solstice & are Diamond members with Royal Caribbean.

Can anyone tell me what to expect in terms of perks that we might get?

Also, are there any great reviews on here with lots of pics that anyone can guide me to?

    Thanks in anticipation.

  5. Hi. I know what you mean re splash & play. We were just on Voyager & I was shocked at the lack of such an area, (like Radiance has).

The kids- (aged between 5 & say 19) used the outside pools & hot tubs, while the adults mostly used the solarium.

There's definitely no area of ONLY ankle/knee deep water, as it's just around the pools, which lead in to the deep water.

Everywhere we went were HUGE crowds.

Taking him to see the FlowRider might entertain for a few hours & every day there are meet & greets with Shrek characters.

  6. Just came back from a South Pacific Cruise on Voyager (not to Fiji).

We enjoyed our holiday but were quite disappointed with some of the crew.

Bars were understaffed eg. where some lines had 5-6 staff for popular bars Voyager only had 3 and sometimes 2. The result, is apart from long wait times for a drink, unhappy and overworked bar staff as well as a few arguments between patrons as to who was next. Which proves to be quite uncomfortable for spectators.

Also, while walking through the royal promenade, on more than one occasion we actually had to stop to avoid bumping into ship management (all white uniforms) while they casually passed in front of us, without so much as an acknowledgement for giving way to them as they strolled through. On other lines all staff, no matter how senior, would always stop for a guest to pass as well as saying "hello" and possibly even enquire as to how your experience was going.

We went to the 'next cruise' area to enquire about booking an Eastern Caribbean Cruise next year. Let me just say after 15 min and struggling to hold my tongue we walked away from the rude young Portuguese lady.

The facilities on board were great. Our steward was great and our waiters were great. Basically those working for your tips are great.

We did meet a lady on board that had just sailed on Radiance. She'd noticed issues with the crew on Voyager as well and told us that the Radiance crew were far far better.

We've sailed Carnival twice previously and agreed that if the Carnival Legend or Spirit crews operated the Voyager it would be the ultimate holiday.

Anyway we booked with another agent for a Harmony cruise next year. So time will tell. Can't wait.

We did Voyager on March 25th, then Legend on April 11th- & I completely agree with the staffing on Voyager. I was SO disappointed!! Plus the lines EVERYWHERE were awful!

  7. Did Voyager have the new pricing structure plus electronc readers? Legend only had paper type and low prices in September. Had upgrades and ipads then too. Fun caller... Shake shake shake....

I'm not sure about a new pricing structure. It was exactly the same as Legend in January.

Casey read out the numbers. Like "75- My boyfriend's age! ...just kidding" Every. Single. Time.

  8. It might be different each cruise.

We got off Voyager on Monday & Bingo was packed every day it was on, (sea days). The games were a minimum of $32USD & each game's winnings was between $300-$500. There was a jackpot, which went off on the last day, (over $5,000 USD), but I couldn't stand the Bingo caller, Casey. She was trying to be funny, but she was terrible- as too was her helper, Grace!

January just gone, we did Bingo on Legend & it was the BEST Bingo I've witnessed at sea. SO much fun & the caller got people to join in with everything. People won IPads, room upgrades & lots of free drinks!!! (There was no jackpot, so most people pocketed over $500 per game!)

  9. I sailed Vision out of Barcelona & Legend out of Brisbane, within the last 12 months. The food on both is BRILLIANT, but the entertainment on Legend was 100x better than Vision. I think it's a nicer looking ship too.

    Both great ships though!!!

I'd prob go the cheaper option & get a better cabin!.

  10. I always wait til I'm on board & see what they have to offer. Sometimes you can barter a bit too.

Compared to when I've sailed the Mediterranean, sailing out of Australia, I find Aussies to be quite content with dining room food & Windjammer dinners, (which are yummy in my opinion!)

We sailed in Jan on Legend & they were never booked out in any restaurant!

We're doing Voyager this month & Legend again next month & fingers crossed we get some good deals!

  11. Hi lovely fellow travellers!

Although I've got more than 90 cruise nights under my belt, reading CC makes me learn new things about cruising, daily!

So my question is- have many people pre purchased OBC with Royal Caribbean.

If yes- how did you go about it?

I've got a Voyager cruise in 4 weeks, then a Legend cruise in just over 6 weeks & I'm thinking, pre purchasing some OBC might be the way to go?!

Can you clever, experienced people please weigh in on this? (Including my fave poster, Mic Canberra, please!)

    Hailey :-)

  12. We were just on Legend & the lines for coffee at ANY time of the day, was never shorter than an hour long! For us, I was glad I didn't get the ultimate package.

Maybe just get premium & have 1 other coffee a day that you pay for & use the instant coffee if needing some extra caffeine- or even better, get an espresso martini!

We're going on Voyager in 4 weeks & will online getting the premium again.
