Looking over to another island
For the next couple of hours, we walked around with our guide, telling us the most amazing facts and stories of Ancient Delos.
It is said that Delos has had people living there since the third millennium BC. Apollo and Artemis were said to be born here.
The people living there didn't want any graves within eye sight of the main temple there, so they dug up all of the dead bodies and moved them to another island. Well... I thought that was crazy, but it gets worse.
There was to be no one BORN on the island and no one to DIE on the island, so if you were pregnant, or close to death, you were removed to a neighbouring island to get the job done! Ha ha. Isn't that absolutely nuts?!

I'm soooooo hoping to get the best chunk of this finished today!!!
Sooooo... Mykonos hey!!! This was the vision we saw when we drew the blinds first thing in the morning!!! Not bad hey!
A gorgeous teeny tiny island.
I was super excited about going here- as when we had stopped on our Vision cruise at Santorini, we weren't able to get off the ship as the water was too rough and we weren't allowed to tender. Boo. But that's ok. Royal Caribbean can't control the weather!
So we were super excited about seeing a real Greek Island and what it had to offer.
We had booked another shore excursion for the day... (It better be better than yesterday's excursion!)
It was a tour of Ancient Delos.
So, the ship docked at 7am and there was clearance about 7.15am. We got off the ship quite early, in our group and boarded a medium sized boat to take us to the island of Delos.
This was our boat
Unfortunately the weather wasn't so kind to us and it was super windy, making the 40 or so boat ride, not very enjoyable. Well... I had fun, but others didn't look so great!!!
Looking back at the Splendour. Stunning ship she is.
Here we are... Lol, it was just a bit of Delos.
This was our lovely guide. He was SOOOOOOOOO knowledgable. And a little bit funny too.

Definitely. Our friends are about to cruise with Carnival & they received an email to say if they are pregnant, they can change their cruise for a similar one for another destination or a later date. On some of the other forums, people have said if you are trying to get pregnant, or are pregnant, don't get off the ship. Eeeeek. We have stopped trying for now, as we embark in less than six weeks.

Not with uber, but taxis are super easy to get from the airport.
-
Thanks everyone! So if you book, they will generally match the price if it later drops? Good to know...
Nooooooooo. That's not the rule in Aus unfortunately! :-(
What you pay is what you pay. That's why I wait until it's a great price! (Unless you want a specific cabin!)

Just got off Legend on an eight night sailing & lobster wasn't offered. HOWEVER, it's the first South Pac sailing where lobster wasn't offered.
So it might be on Voyager.
We will be on her in 7ish weeks... Hoping it's a YES! :-)

I'd prefer the middle AFT facing than the wrap around. We had the corner AFT on a 13 night sailing & although it was nice- we didn't use around the corner because 1. It was out of the way & 2. It was always in the shade.
We preferred the deeper balcony in the middle. No inch was missed out on being used! :-)

Do you have friends in the US? They could book for you & say you live there.

I got off Legend yesterday... WOW! Awesome, awesome, awesome ship. Amazing staff & so much to do considering it was such a small ship. Food was also brilliant.
We're doing Voyager in March having only done smaller ships, so I can't compare, (only to Radiance) but we loved it!
-
I always bring a mini line & hang out my smalls... & even some of our shorts & tops. Royal shrunk all of my husbands shirts on a cruise, (nearly $1000 worth) & we still had 10 days of sailing to go!
-
Sadly our Aussie Dollar dropped dramatically overnight and it is now AUD69.8 against the USD. That's why it has skyrocketed!
Maybe we can get another $700 per person from our Prime Minister (or was it $900?) to uplift our dollar again! Lol. That can pay for our drinks packages! Ha ha!!!!!
Yeah- RCI have pushed up the prices on everything... I just hope they've pushed up their wages too!!!

On Friday of last week I was able to book & pay for 2 of my friends to get drinks packages on our upcoming cruise for Sunday out of Brisbane. It was $73AUD each.
Over the weekend I logged on to buy mine & the website couldn't complete my transaction.
Logging on today- the price has increased by $7 per day- now to $80AUD per day!
[emoji47][emoji43]
I know our dollar is super weak at the moment... But making us pay more for drinks packages doesn't make it easier for me to enjoy my cruise.
So now I'm not buying a package...
[emoji30][emoji24][emoji12] Okay, rant over! Lol

Best: Rhapsody, Radiance, Vision & Splendour! All were awesome!!!
Leaving on Legend on Sunday then Voyager a few weeks later then Legend the week after again- hoping they're at the top of the list too!
Least fave- my princess cruise.

I just checked the official timetable and the Legend leaves from Portside (north side of Brisbane R) on Jan 10. Enjoy your cruise
Thanks!
We are onboard Jan 17th. He he X

Thanks for the great review. I'm booked on the cruise departing 11 April and a lot of the recent reviews had me feeling a bit nervous
This will be our 4th RCI cruise and I've always had a great time but was starting to think that the Legend may well be a dud!
It seems that most of the disgruntled reviewers were on the 2 night sampler cruise with a lot of of people complaining about the understaffed bars. The reviews I have read from the longer sailings seem to be much more balanced.
Glad you had a great time, you've made me feel much better! :)
I'm on April 11th too, but doing Jan 17th on Legend too. Very excited after reading this review! :-)

There are 2 ports in brisbane so make sure you are going to the right one. We were on the rhapsody in april and were docked at the grain terminal, a long way from the city and no public transport so didnt bother going in.
We are also going on queen mary 2 out of brisbane in march and are boarding at the same terminal. We dont trust airlines so going up the day before and staying at a motel in Wynnum, we are a group of 10 arriving at different times but plan to get a maxi taxi from the motel to port in the morning, have been told they are easy to find.
The other port is for smaller ships and easy to get to brisbane city on public transport.
You're right! Usually we don't trust airlines either, but one of the girls in the group is having her partner fly home from another country & they'll get to see each other for a couple of hours before we fly out.
We fly in at 9am so should be okay!
Thanks for your help!
1. 7 Kms2. Easy to get a maxi taxi from airport
3. Portside Wharf at Hamilton. (Definitely departing from here, just checked schedule http://portsidewharf.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/20151223_Shipping-Schedule-for-website-Jan-to-June_RJ.pdf)
Mega thanks! You've helped ease my mind!
I had no idea you could look up cruise terminals like that!!!
-
Hiya! Next Sunday, 6 of us young fillies, (okay, we are not quite Spring chickens... But I'm making us feel a bit younger), are going on Legend out of Brissy.
Does anyone know how far from the airport the terminal is, (by car) & if we could easily get a maxi taxi or should we just go for 2 taxis?
Also, would anyone happen to know what the port is called?
Thanks in anticipation! [emoji38]🤓

[emoji23][emoji106]🏽 love your post Kiwi!
We did a Greek Isles & Med cruise in 2015 too! They're very different from the South Pacific cruises, hey! (Amazingly awesome, but different!)
Keeeeeep posting 🙃[emoji13]

I'm on legend next week.
It's $73 per day to pre purchase the drink package I would use, or $80 per day when booking it onboard (with the conversion rate as it is).
I don't want to see IF they offer drink cards. I don't think I can afford to risk it. Lol. (Spoken in the true words of an Aussie drinker!)

Despite what the others said, my standard balcony room on Vision of the Seas had a full separation curtain. I don't know if the same holds true for all of Vision Class though.
Our balcony on Vision didn't.
Some rooms do & some don't. I think it's the luck of the draw.
My inside room on Rhapsody did & a room on Radiance did, but that's it.
-
As the ship is quite small, JS's that are AFT facing are the absolute best in my opinion. There's no noises from above or below & the balconies are tremendous. If you go for the one smack bang in the middle, that is the biggest! (The corner ones don't wrap around!)

The things we must endure hey!
Our best friends got off their first cruise this morning... I'm waiting for them to say it was the best thing they've ever done- so they can book with us later in the year!
I've got to wait 20 nights til the girls & I go cruising, & 14 weeks & 16 weeks until the next two- (with the husband).
It's a hard life to be a dedicated cruiser... Whether it's a cruise with meticulous planning every couple of years or a frequent cruiser... It's a job that we are all happy to fill!
-
We've had people leave our ships every sailing we've done... But only on our Aussie sailings! Lol.
There was an all in family brawl on Radiance a couple of years ago- (like 10+ people throwing punches!) for the next few days, a few of them had black eyes. Ha ha. Just the two main people got asked to leave!
One boy, (he was 17) got thrown off for bringing pot on board. His parents stayed on the cruise!
