  1. .

Another thrashing by the Aussies, and the series lost.

I think Capt. Cook needs a holiday, perhaps Hawaii would be good for him. Hope he doesn't lose his head.

    :eek::D

    .

    lol...

Especially the Sandwich Islands (Hawaii) Mic, where at Kealakekua (Karakakooa) Bay he could visit his namesake Jimmy boy's remains and perhaps take some of those ashes home instead!

Yes they are there...it just takes a bit of finding and lots of patience.

When we did our big South America, Africa and Med cruise with HAL we met folk who would not pay more than $US 100 per day and that was with HAL.

David was that for balconies per person, without unobstructed views or other undesireables in general?

Or for that price you just take what is left on offer when you do it that way?

Yes lots of things to see both in this Region and the rest of the world, I have been working through my bucket list since I retired in 2003, lucky to have had an overseas trip and domestic trip every year.

Getting to the bottom of the bucket adventure wise and $ wise. But enjoyed it all, still a bit more to go.

Good onya Les, leave no stone unturned or sea un-sailed is my motto... :D

If I have a red cent left when they're throwing dirt on the wooden lid, I will consider it a failure of epic proportions on my behalf. :p

    always loved the quote;-

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”

    -Hunter S. Thompson, "Gonzo"

I think I've done a pretty good job of throwing petrol on life's fire so far so here's mud in ya eye old mate...

    Cheers

Capt Cook looks a shattered man. Drop him, put Stokes in as an opener and Belly as Captain Bell.

    .

England play the Prime Minister's XI on Tuesday in Canberra, they should try something like that out then Les.

We could let star all-rounder Ellyse Perry Capt. our mob for the day! :D

Cook could get a day of intense therapy, or spend the day looking for a cruise for when he gets home he will have plenty of spare time on his hands.

With his luck he'd wind up on a salvage of the Costa Concordia!

  5. Which town car would you recommend? We are a group of 6! thanks:p

    http://www.towncars.com/

Towncars use the G6E Falcon, of which you would need 2 to be comfortable for 6 plus travel luggage.

Or if you all wanted to go together the Mercedes Benz Vito Vans.

Also, all of their vehicles have access to baby seats if needed.

Also be aware that booking the van attracts a 50% surcharge; this is equivalent to the maxi taxi rates charged by the taxi industry.

    Your choice.

  6. Sorry...I simply can't understand why you would want to use the airport shuttle... perhaps you are like the pommie cricketers and want more torture from the Aussies :D

I live in Brisbane, but I have traveled to Sydney often, and yes, on some rare occasions, used the shuttle. I have never found it a pleasant experience ...always delays, grumpy drivers and they seem to drop off at every hotel in town. If you are staying near the Quay or Darling Harbour, expect to be one of the last to be dropped off. BTW... they use a trailer to carry your precious luggage...and I have witnessed incidents where these trailers have lost some of their load :(

You don't say how many is in your group, but Shuttles charge for their "service" on a per head basis, wheras cabs etc charge per car. A single person, with minimal luggage and plenty of time might find the shuttle ok, but 2 pax or more should in my view use an alternative.

My honest suggestion is to pre book a hire car. I now use http://www.towncars.com Cost from airport to City is fixed at less than $50 which is comparable to a cab. Ok, twice as much as it would be for two people in a shuttle, but you get personalised, on time service, with a driver that actually speaks the language and you minimise the risk of an unpleasant introduction to one of the world's great cities.

    cheers

I could not agree more, and second the 'towncars' option. Some of the most polite, courteous helpful and knowledgeable drivers around.

The only way to arrive in the best city on the planet!

Treat yourselves "Cosmic Rays", you won't regret it.
