  1. Thanks for the great write up! I just signed up for a year and did the training on how to use the machines today. I like the rotation style and everyone gets a fair chance to use all the equipment. Not so at most gyms. Even after spending a fortune on a personal trainer setting up specific routines for me, when I would go to the gym, half the equipment I needed was draped with some disturbingly drenched sweat towel.

  2. I'm not quite 5' tall, and I've hemmed shorts. Why? Exactly the OP's reasoning: I want a nice mid-length short. I don't want to look like I'm trying to be 16 years old, nor do I want to look as if I've borrowed my 100-year old grandmother's shorts! At my height, I'm quite accustomed to hemming things.

I have a singer that tends to do the trick. My grandmother taught me the basics when I was growing up, and though I never follow the rules when it comes to sewing, the items I hem seem to turn out the way I want them to.

  3. Has anyone ever been a member of Curves? How is the circuit workout program? I get bored easily when exercising at a gym and I'm hoping this will be exactly what I need to stay motivated and on track.

I actually set up an appointment months ago, but never showed up. Decided to give it another go after I realized the weight wasn't going to walk itself off.

  4. Where can a lady find a geat pair of shorts- not too long and not daisy dukes. Finding a nice flattering pair seems impossible.

    Any ideas? Please share:

You could always get a too long pair and roll the cuff or have a tailor hem them to exactly the length you want.

  5. Again, thanks for the advice. :)

Chankanaab: Amazing photos and the palapas are so tempting!: $11 taxi + $19 admittance fee w/ coupon + $15 snorkel gear rental + ?? kayak rental. As long as we don't go overboard on food, should be under $75. Though with it being a park, I'm hoping to avoid extreme crowds, in June. Is that an unrealistic expectation?

The Money Bar: Smaller, seemingly more quiet setting?? I won't complain about that! No entry fee and $20 for snorkel rental and kayak rental fees leaves a lot of spare change in the budget.

Has anyone been to both? I am curious which has better snorkeling.

  6. So this will be my 5th time to Cozumel. In the past I have been around the town area and shopping, visited the mayan ruins, gone on a speed boat excursion to isla pasion and toured the amazing secret river.

We will be doing a dolphin encounter in Jamaica, so I decided to focus on a snorkel type adventure for Cozumel. I am a slightly disappointed not to be going to Roatan on this cruise because I am in love with Tabyana Beach and have set the bar for all beach breaks in comparison to this one.

So please help me decide :)

Everybody Loves Rays! (RCI Shore Excursion)

    DURATION: 3 HOURS

    or

Clear Kayak & Beach Snorkel Combo - Playa Uvas (RCI Shore Excursion)

DURATION: 3 HOURS AND 30 MINUTES

    or

A PAYG model that offers Kayak rentals, snorkeling off the beach and so forth. We most likely will not be bringing our own snorkeling gear this time as we are just taking a carryon each.

  7. I recently learned how to do the "army roll" method and am taking a 35 liter backpack on my next trip. Hoping everything fits, but considering I was able to fit about 50 shirts in my suitcase using the new method I feel confident it can be done.

The 50/50 cotton/poly blends wrinkles the least and smells the best in my experience. Rayon blends are really lightweight for packing, but beware if you sweat in the heat.

  8. Exactly the question I was wondering!

    My concerns are:

    A) the areas will feel cramped and claustrophobic.

    B) Picky eaters in the family won't have access to the reoccurring-daily bland menu.

    C) The cost of cruising will go up because the separate menus will inevitably mean more spending.

I'm not really sure how they will accomplish this on OASIS as she wasn't designed with the Dynamic Dining concept in mind.

She has one massive dining on three levels, with a giant atrium in the middle and the same decor throughout. The concept of Dynamic Dining is several small restaurants, each with its own theme, menu, cuisine, and dress code.

How they will turn one massive dining room into multiple restaurants should be interesting. Will they close up the atrium and construct a bulkhead down the center of each level, making the space six different restaurants? I suppose they could but boy that will be expensive and time consuming.

It will be interesting to see how they accomplish it. Frankly I think the Oasis Class mega-dining room is quite beautiful and I would be sad to see it closed in and chopped into smaller sections.

  9. Indian Food Aboard Oasis…

Where can I find it? Particularly around lunch time.

The Indian Tandoor is one of the few things I will miss about the Carnival Magic, but otherwise I'm thrilled to be cruising again with RCI. I don't feel a need to eat Indian food at every meal, but it is one of my favorite cuisines, if an option.
