  1. Many have found MSC's Yacht Club to be a good alternative to The Haven.

    Until I read this.....

After 6 p.m., jeans, T-shirts and shorts are not permitted in the ships' public areas

I absolutely refuse to be told what to wear when I am paying my own way on vacation. Other than nothing offensive or inappropriate of course.

  2. Anyone get an e-mail bid offer from Escape? CAS just told me that it was only for Getaway and Breakaway. But we all know how that works, whoever answers the phone is usually the last to know. LOL LOL

Emails are going out for Escape - we are on Nov 12 Escape and got the email offer on 9/24 - currently in a mid ship balcony

  3. Is it the "Uh Oh we need a vacation" message?

I believe that's NCLs prob - not your browser..

I am very tech savvy and was getting that message - after a week it was fixed for around 24 hours - but came back again

Doesn't work by clearing cookies - using different browsers, indeed, different pc systems

    Its NCLs tech glitch ..

NCL, like many busy websites, uses Akamai to deliver content and load balance their site.

Akamai had a problem a couple weeks back that prevented me from accessing the site from my home internet connection no matter what device or browser I tried but I was able to access it from cell phone, work etc.

Have you tried using your cell phone while not connected to your wireless connection?

  4. While this is true of the old up sell emails, I don't think it will be that way with this system. Since item #13 of the T&C say you can modify bids up to 48 hours before departure I think they will just accumulate bids and make most decisions last minute. Perhaps they will accept a maximum bid early. I bet a lot of the offers are for cabin classes they don't even have available, but take bids just to cover themselves if someone else moves out of that cabin type.

It seems the minimum bids are low, I'd be interested in knowing the maximums, particularly interested if they are close to traditional up sell offers.

We are in balcony (BC). Min & Max bids from the offer below...

    H2 - $750 - $3000

    H3 - $750 - $3000

    H4 - $500 - $2000

    H5 through H9 - $300 - $1500

    Mini-Suite - $25 - $200

Each bid is per person for first 2 people (guest 3, 4 etc would not be charged the upsell price).

I didn't bid on the mini-suite - don't want to lose our drink and SDP - I put in fairly low bids on all the H5 through H9 - figure I can lose the drink and SDP package if we did get bumped up to Haven since I'm pretty sure they are included anyway. Plus we would not pay gratuities - so that's a little bit towards the cost of the upgrade if we did get it.

  5. Are you allowed to bid on several different categories at the same time? And if you are bidding on Haven, are selecting a specific category like a H-5 or H-9?

So much difference in cabins.....this should get interesting!

Yes - you can bid on any or all the categories you choose - with different dollar amount bids for each.

I bid pretty low on every Haven that started at $300 per person but skipped a bid on the mini-suite and higher end Haven's which started at $750 - we are currently in a balcony (BC).

The bid meter barely even moved based on how low my bids were so I'm anticipating ZERO chance of being bumped up.

  6. Packet captures confirmed it was not my local machine - wasn't a cookie (or pie, or cake or cookie monster doing meth) issue - NCL site was unavailable for us.

Looked like Akamai was having trouble replying to some ISPs (Comcast in the SE US at least).

They finally seem to have figure it out.

When it was unavailable we would sometimes get an "Uh Oh" page from Norwegian, other times just time outs.
