SOOO, it's our first time at this port, I have zero knowledge of any of the beaches.
Where would you recommend for a nice beach day?
Thank you-
Tammy
cockleshell beach, south friar's bay, or frigate bay...or go to Nevis
-
my chairs are 10 a pair, the beach massage varies. besure to look out for my cc member bard ile put your name up.
Hey Castro, what should the price of a taxi from Castries to the Boardwalk at Vigie be?
I've read $10 US for two people, i've read Taxi's trying to charge 30 bucks to get there which seems very steep.
-
20-30 minute flat walk, or $10USD one way cab ride. Restrooms, boardwalk with restaurants and bars. Chairs for rent, etc.
Very long thread about it a few posts down.
I'll be there on Nov. 4th, can give you info if you want.
The walk does not look bad, just will take longer because you can't cut across the airport.
Might cab one way and walk back.

Jack is $8; Jameson $6 last June. I know; I paid it. Whoops! That's Ocean. Let me look up river.
Everyone in the room needs to be Silver
River: Jack 7 euros; jameson 6.50 euros
Public Service Note: 3 drinks/day every day + wine may be injurious to your health :halo:
Throw in some Fernet Branca or Underburg after meals and you will be fine :)

if paying for a can of pop (which I bought the package so won't worry about)
and someone leaving their towel on a chair are the only
down sides, I think I will enjoy my cruise in 3 weeks.

pool grill as a DIY salad bar

I am sure you will be fine, your English is excellent. It will be more interesting to see how my 25 year old daughter is treated since she is coming with me :)
I set sail on the Viking Sky in 31 days.. I am 27 years old and my wife is 29.
I think we may be the youngest on board by a margin. Our itinerary is the Caribbean so
it may attract a slightly younger group.

There are many threads and the general consensus
is the Viking Living Room Bar

I sent you an email Castro, but wanted to confirm with you.
I will be at Vigie Beach Saturday November 4th two adults!
Thanks

On my upcoming trip the included excursions have a number of different start times, eg:
9:00am-12:00 pm
10:00am-1:00 am
11:am-2:00 am
If you plan on doing a longer tour, like 6 hours or so then it will be obviously starting early
depending what time you are in port.

I am cruising Oct 29th, coming up soon,
I will be taking photos of all the menus etc and will
share them on the forum :)
-
Maybe someone who is on board now or leaving soon will take a moment to photograph the menu and post it here (or a link to it).
Room Service menu is on first post in this thread:

Breakfast Room Service menu is on post #13
Thread is from 2015, have not seen anything more recent

Depending on time, you could go to Trader Joes, 30 minute
walk from cruise terminal, up amsterdam ave to W 72nd St
-
Weird that my cruise Oct 29th departing from New York does not
show up on their schedule.
-
I am doing a Viking Ocean cruise in the Caribbean in less than two months.
I will definitely be the youngest on board by a considerable margin.
I feel that a Caribbean cruise may have more appeal to a younger crowd compared
to a European itinerary, but I am happy going to the gym, spa and relaxing
on the deck, not too concerned about being so young.

I am on the Sky Oct 29th out of NYC.
My Travel Rep had told me it was leaving out of the Manhattan Terminal.
With some digging I had seen that the Viking Sky was returning from a cruise on the 29th and
going to be in the Brooklyn Terminal. When I asked Viking they initially said it was stlll leaving from the Manhattan terminal but they realized their error.
The Brooklyn Cruise terminal is in the red hook area. Can't tell you about embarkation as I have
never been there!

Would be interested as well, once you are a week or so from sailing, or can you
pay extra while checking in.

Is Castro still active?
Will be in Castries Saturday Nov.4th, was thinking of a couple
hours at vigie beach after lunch at Coal Pot

Palm Beach
in Aruba
Hi Dave,
Palm Beach is a short bus ride from the terminal, Eagle Beach is a bit further north and
has more of the high rise resorts. From what I have heard Palm beach is a little quieter.
I think you can tell the bus driver you want to get off at a specific resort, like MVC or AMsterdam Manor
Have a look on google maps, you can see the distance.

Thank you Viking Sky. I think that I can be happy with the quality but hopefully there is a wider range available. Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and a French red???
A sample wine list would really help if possible. I understand that they change but at least I would be able to see the variety.
Thanks again.

Does anyone know if the SS beverage package includes any upgraded bottled water?
For that matter---what are the bottled water choices? Anything in glass bottles or fizzy water?
We bought the package so we could have upgraded wine and have the pairings at Chef's Table but we are bottled water lovers also.
Bottled water choices include
Mineral Water (in two sizes)
Evian Spring Water
those are the two I know of

Here is a link to a sample menu from the viking website, hope the link works

Deck 8 cabins on a Viking Ocean ship: noisy?
in Viking Ocean
Posted
Currently in rooom 8013 and it is fantastic. No noise from the sports deck. Explores lounge is down a short hallway. When the sea is rough you feel it but it is a great location for everything. Takes 10 seconds to get down to deck 1 or 2 if you are going there
