  1. Hi:

In Port Everglades we will be disembarking the Carnival Conquest and the same day embarking on the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas. (This is on a Saturday.)

    A few questions:

    1. Which dock or terminal does Carnival use?

    2. Which dock or terminal does Royal Caribbean use?

    3. How far a walk between terminals is it? (We only have carry on luggage.)

    4. We will need to "restock" some supplies. Is there a grocery store or pharmacy within walking distance. I consider a 30-45 minute walk each way ok. I am thinking of a Publix or CVS. Is there a wine store in that area?

We will have a few hours to kill between the cruises so not in a rush.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Hello:

I have read the Carnival liquor and beverage policy. I understand I can bring up to 12 cans or cartons of sealed non-alcoholic beverage on board at embarkation.

Will carnival make me finish or "dump" any water or non-alcoholic beverage I may have in my personal water bottle?

Also, is this different when returning to the ship from ports? If I am returning from a beach stop and have an open bottle or water (or soda) will they require me to finish or dump before boarding?

I am a recent NCL cruiser and they have a "no beverage" policy. They will ask you to finish or dump any liquids each time your board the ship. This is true even if the beverage you are carrying was bought on the NCL ship.

Thanks to the experienced Carnival cruisers for clarification.

  3. Hello.

New RC cruiser. Not new to cruising.

We will be on Freedom of the Seas in January. We are signed up for My Time Dining and will use the complimentary dining options.

l am receiving emails from RC inviting me to make restaurant reservations. As I read on the website these are needed for the specialty restaurants and that makes sense.

I thought the entire purpose of My Time Dining was that I did not have to pick a time or a restaurant and make reservations. I could just show up.

    Questions:

    1. Do I need to make dining reservations for the MDR or the buffet?

    2. Do I need to make any reservations for any of the entertainment?

    Thanks!

  4. First time Carnival cruiser on a 6 day sailing on conquest. What is the dress code for women for elegant night. If we plan to eat at the buffet those nights does the "elegant" apply? I prefer not to dress up. I would wear black slacks, short sleeve top and sandles. Would that work?

I would not wear jeans or shorts any evening but I would wear casual capris.

  5. Hello:

I am doing 2 cruises back-to-back on 2 different cruise lines. A carnival followed by a Royal Caribbean.

Both lines allow passengers to carry on 1 bottle of wine per person.

As I will have no time on debarkation/embarkation day to go to a store to by 2 bottles of wine, I would like to carry on 4 bottles to the first Carnival cruise. I would like to keep 2 for the Carnival cruise and "check" 2 that will be returned to me at debarkation. I can then carry these on to the Royal Caribbean cruise.

Does this make sense? May I "check" alcohol at embarkation? May I check wine/alcohol that I bought in a port?

Also a related question.... what is carnival's policy for carrying on beverages. I am a recent NCL cruiser. Their policy is no beverages can be carried on (alcohol or non-alcohol). For example, you cannot board an NCL ship with an open or closed bottle of water.

Example: On Carnival if I bought a large soda at a port and only finished 1/2 of it, could I carry the remainder back onto the ship?

    Thanks for the input.

  6. Hi:

My friend Earl is current working in San Juan to bring electricity back to the Island. Because is it so dark at night he says the people could really use some headlamps. See the video linked below for a first hand report of status in PR. Also, look under the "Update" tab. He will continue to provide updates so please return to the page again.

It is easy to bring 1 or 2 headlamps and give to any of the locals. Headlamps may be purchased at home improvement stores or outdoor stores. The basic ones will do just fine.

  7. Just have the one person who wants to drink pay for drinks as they go. Then about day 3 or 4 buy as many 10 drink cards as they want for about $79+gratuities.

You will probably come out cheaper....

You can thank all the people who broke the rules and bought only one package and shared it with others.

    Hello.

Will someone please share more information on the Drink Cards? Are they offered on each cruise? I am new to Royal Caribbean so any info is most helpful. I am thinking that on an 8 day cruise the drink package will maybe break even for us. The drink card sound interesting. Thank you.

  8. Hi:

We will be sailing on the Freedom of the Seas. We are scheduled to arrive back in Fort Lauderdale at 5:30am on Sunday, 1/28/18.

We do not have any status on Royal Caribbean which may allow us to leave the ship early.

Any issues you see with an 11:45 domestic flight?

Thanks in advance for your comments. Also, what transportation would you recommend from Port Everglades to the FLL airport?

  9. Sailing on the Conquest in a few weeks and can't wait. Grand Turk is on our itin and I know they were supposed to start getting ships back next week but it sounds like that may be delayed :(.

If anyone who's recently sailed on her knows who's at the Alchemy Bar, that info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. What makes you say that ship arrivals at Grand Turk may be delayed? Is that information posted anywhere?

  10. Hello:

I am new to Royal Caribbean and would appreciate some help.

I am looking to book an inside cabin guarantee. There are 2 categories offered: Z and Q. There is a $300 difference in price but they are both guarantees.

I understand that a guarantee cabin can put me anywhere on the ship. The Z category states that we could have "any bedding configuration." The Q category does not include this mention.

Does Freedom of the Sea have any bunk beds? Anyone have more information on the difference between a Z and Q category?

Thanks in advance for any help.
