for us it's spring break, so I only need to take a week off and fortunately pricing is lower:):)

I think we are still leaning towards April, also cost wise.

For us the Rhine looks like the way to go, we love the history of Strasbourg, also maybe to tour the Kronenboug brewery!! :)

Wow, did not think of lock closings!

We picked April for DW 66 b'day, that may be the reason April is a budget period?

I'm so glad I found this post, like others we are considering a river cruise in 2013, early April to be more exact.

With my very little research done so far, the Rhine cruise from Viking, on the Helvetica seems to fit the bill. The price point fits snd we like the idea of castles.

Am I really missing anything by crossing Uniworld, etc off the list?

Is it worth the extra fare?

My main concerns at this early stage are:

• River levels being too low
  

• Food selection. My wife does not keep strict kosher, but will not eat any pork, I have heard that the meals tend to be pork heavy.
  

Keep the posts coming, we are nowhere close to deciding which line / river to take

This made up my mind for sure.

I was trying to get package prices for our 5/25 Alaska cruise, and nothing was coming up until last last week, and I was kinda torn.

A no-brainer now.
