  1. From what I can see , there is approx 20-30 cabins left, about 6-10 of those in the haven. Inside is sold out and outside is guarantee only , so those people will be probably get a balcony as outside appears sold out too.

So basically, this cruise will sell out. Just like the July 24th one did, there's still another 9 days to go...

  2. Maybe I got lucky, but I did not lose any of my free at sea perks when I paid to upgrade from inside GTY to balcony GTY, in fact, they let me choose an additional perk and I got additional OBC. When I upgraded for free, they were going to make me switch promotions but ended up letting me keep my original! It never hurts to ask, sometimes you get lucky!

viva - did you book directly with NCL or a TA? Also, when did you call or make, the change? How many days before sailing? TIA (ps, I LOVE your reviews :))

  3. Does anyone know if NCL will let me buy an upgrade from guarantee inside to guarantee ocean view or balcony? 35 days till sailing. Seems like there are a TON of balconys left on my sailing, insides almost sold out though, prices on balconys have been dropping and insides have been going up.

Just wondering when a good time to call would be, based on this situation.

    I booked directly with ncl.

    Thanks

  4. Just for fun...

Any care to speculate (or know first hand) why NCL would lower pricing on its guarantee cabins but raise prices on assigned ones? Just noticed on my upcoming Aug 14 cruise, they lowered the inside guarantee but raised the price of all the other inside cabins... Just curious

  5. I keep seeing this thread and then wonder how did you manage to book a cruise and not know whether you are at the front or back of the ship ?

If you book online directly with CCL, I can see it being confusing, I had to do a double take and when I booked , it was also the last available option so, I only checked out the actual position of the cabin, AFTER booking.

Also, we are all human. ;)

  6. Oops! - yes, I'm at the front, not back of ship!.. thanks for helping everybody :)

Hi Karen, I just booked the same cabin in January :) are you planning to post a review when you get back? Would love to find out if this cabin is a great as it seems :)

Have an amazing cruise, not long now for you !!!

  7. Thanks all. I'm calmer now, just was upset that I wasn't told then was also told it could be "reinstated" (exact words) anyways, I tbink I'm going to stick with the September res. I know it's not a lot of money, just doesn't feel good when your told one thing, and then find out it means another, you know?

  8. Yesterday I found out that my daughter's school was going to start later than we thought and I decided to switch my Aug 14 cruise to Sept 11, because the dates were more convenient for me. I wasn't sure if this would even be possible so I called NCL and was told "no problem" they cancelled my first cruise (which was in Canadian dollars) and booked the new dates in US dollars (as this was going to work out cheaper for me)

On the phone for about 45 mins while all this is taking place and literally at the last minute, the NCL rep says "oh by the way, you can only apply 1 $250 credit on this cruise because it's in September, the promo that allows you to apply 2 credits to one cruise is over Aug 31"

I expressed that I did not know that earlier and he said "no problem, I can re-instate your cancelled cruise" So, I asked if I could have a little time to think about it because I had already been on the phone for 45 min and had to pick my kids up from school and was told, yes, I could have time but, I better decide "quick"

I called today and yes, they can reinstate my old reservation but UNDER NEW PRICING, which is now $600 MORE!

I'm so upset. Do I have any recourse? Doesn't re-instate sound like they are just re-instating what I had before? At no time ever was I told this was a new booking.

If I had just been told when I first called in that if I changed my reservation to September, then I would not be able to use both my credits, I would have said okay, I'll leave everything as is, thank you.

:( Not even sure what to do now. I have the Sept 11 one on hold but, I'm feeling like just ditching NCL right now.

    Any/all advice is welcome, thanks.

  9. We are August 24. Is yours on Regent? That will be great for your Mom without too much air travel.

I just changed out hotel to the Pacific Rim instead of the Waterfront. It did involve quite a jump n price.

You will not be disspointed! Pacific Rim is a true true 5 star hotel, in all aspects. Waterfront is fine but showing its age as well, in my opinion. Book well ahead if you want to visit the spa, you could literally spend the day there but it does book up fast.

  10. The Four Seasons is an elegant, classy hotel with excellent restaurants. It's attached to Pacific Centre Mall, a large high end fashion mall which now includes Nordstroms :) it's not a new and crisp as Pacific Rim, but I would say equal in other aspects. The spa doesn't compare, if that matters to you but you don't have to stay at the pacific rim to use their spa ...

  11. Not sure if anyone suggesting Pan Pacific has actually stayed there lately but it is VERY dated now. Pacific Rim is head and shoulders above Pan Pacific, service may be comparable but that's it. Old , dingy rooms, and food is average. The spa at pacific rim is a destination in itself, as are ALL the dining Venues, all all beautiful and new. I live 10 mins away from both these hotels, just FYI. :)

  12. Tried searching but couldn't find a similar question. We are sailing out of Manhatten aug 14th on the Breakaway and will be flying into NY on Friday evening (can fly into JFK or Newark) planning to rent a car and drive to either the Hamptons or Jersey Shore to spend Saturday at the beach.

Never been to NY, travelling with my 19 yr old daughter. Moderate hotel budget 2-300/night. Was hoping to return car to airport Saturday evening and stay at a hotel airport for easy commute to cruise terminal Sunday but open to other suggestions.

    tia!
