This thread is about an overcharge and went off on debit cards. You couldn't resist going off on a tangent about travel insurance?
BTW I agree with you and others, it makes no sense to use debit cards for most things, for the reasons given.
Not really "going off" on travel insurance. Just think it's interesting how people embrace certain safeguards, but tend to dismiss others.

I like to have it for teller deposits and withdrawals, but NEVER use it to purchase.
Not using a good reward CC is losing out on thousands of dollars in benefits over time
Even if you don't use one for rewards, giving a business direct access to your bank account is an act of stupidity. Amazing that people around here will shell out money for travel insurance "just in case", yet leave themselves exposed to much worse financial peril by using a debit card...

I can't imagine caring about a CD. I guess it's important for a lot of people to have their hand held, to have the activities spoon fed, to have someone tell them when they're having fun. But for me, I actually have the ability to do these things all by myself.
CD's are useless...

Reason #3,732 why debit cards are just a bad idea all around. My bank sends me a debit card, and I immediately destroy it.

Oasis and Allure are some of the earliest debarking ships….I have made as early as 8:30am flights off them….self debarkation usually starts around 6:30 am….HOWEVER…that is not a guaranty.
It's as close to one as there is. I have yet to hear of a single incident where early debarkation was delayed on either ship. Not once...

I am sure Windjammer is lovely, will probably eat there a fair bit as I am not really a formal person & this dressing for dinner will lose its appeal fast I'm sure.
Clothing is not optional for dinner in the Windjammer. If you want to dine "au natural", you'll have to do that in your stateroom...

The "BEST" place to eat lunch on day 1? On shore at one of many great restaurants. I always prefer to eat lunch before embarking. Last chance to get fresh seafood for a while! Much more enjoyable than standing in line at Park Cafe or fighting the mob in the Windjammer.
Might be a little more cost prohibitive with seven though...

If you're talking extra as in above and beyond what is automatically included, then whatever you want. Zero dollars extra is appropriate (and the standard), but any additional amount will be met with appreciation on their part.

Being Diamond is irrelevant. They do not offer priority self-debarkation for Diamond, Diamond Plus or even Pinnacle.

I'll never get over the fascination people have with the Concierge Lounge. Mediocre drinks and pigs in a blanket with a bunch of septuagenarians.... It's got all the appeal of an airport lounge. No thanks...

I'm a little confused. The transfers are with the cruise line, yet you're arriving in the evening. Obviously you're not going to the ship. Are you flying in the day before? If so, then you've got plenty of time and it's not an issue. Am I missing something?

Prices can drop, prices can rise. It's really a guessing game based on demand. Just know that any about of money you might save with a drop, you might also cost yourself the same or more if it jumps. I usually suggest deciding if you're comfortable with the price currently. If you are, then book and and be done.

They're certainly not present in every restaurant that I've ever been in. Obviously things are different for you but for the majority of people often the first time they've ever seen a Freestyle machines is aboard the ship - they are rare for most people.
I like them not only for the flavors, but the convenience - no waiting in line at a bar to just get a soda refill. And the bars don't have Coke Zero which is what we all drink - the machines do.
We literally all cheered when we were picking up our soda cups at embarkation and heard that the Freestyles had made it aboard. RCI instantly picked up an extra 4 or 5 pass sales right at that moment as if it hadn't been for the machines there was quite a few in our group of 12 that weren't going to buy a pass this time after having been spoiled by the machines over our last many cruises. :)
That's interesting. Yes, around here, it seems they are in most every fast food establishment (McDonalds, BK, Five Guys...).

Maybe I'm missing something. I don't get what all the hype is about a soda dispensing machine that is present in every fast-food restaurant landside. Seriously, what's the obsession with these things on board? There is one in the Burger King a mile away from my house, but I don't get all giddy about it and high tail it over there just so I can add vanilla to my Diet Coke.

Oh, so you're complaining about a policy you knew about. Wow.... That's kind of pathetic...

I wouldn't worry about it. Show up, Passport, Credit Card, you're good to go...

I do know on Allure Ken Rush was annoyed by people walking out and would call them out
I do believe I would be rather offended if one of those useless cruise director windbags tried to embarrass me in front of a crowd. The best thing a cruise director can ever do is sit down and shut up. Cruising would be enhanced without them. Are there really so many people that can't figure out how to enjoy themselves without some nitwit cheerleader spoon feeding them all day long?

I can't see GE coming to a cruise port any time soon. The primary focus is business travelers, not leisure travelers. Furthermore, the technology would be woefully underutilized. Cruise terminals C&I are utilized for a few hours a couple times a week at most. Nothing compared to C&I at an international airport.

I think the only person with an issue about this is the OP.
Seriously, we're talking about shows on a cruise ship. This ain't exactly Broadway. It's not that people are rude or entitled, it's that it's a show.... on a CRUISE SHIP! You expect me to act and behave as I would at a high-caliber theatrical presentation? Fine, whenever I'm at one, I'll do just that. But nothing on a cruise ship ever qualifies.

"Royal Caribbean" and "Culturally Enriching" go together like peanut butter and cottage cheese...
-
Yeah, and your assurance that RCI doesn't have any potential problems like that is what exactly? I love how ignorance is bliss...
-
we literally thought we would not get anything to drink unless we had a package
You actually thought that if you didn't buy a package you were going to go the entire week with nothing to drink?

Wow. You didn't sleep all night because you were worried about missing a flight? That seems a bit out there to me. Seriously, deal with that you can control...
