  1. This thread is about an overcharge and went off on debit cards. You couldn't resist going off on a tangent about travel insurance?

BTW I agree with you and others, it makes no sense to use debit cards for most things, for the reasons given.

Not really "going off" on travel insurance. Just think it's interesting how people embrace certain safeguards, but tend to dismiss others.

  2. I like to have it for teller deposits and withdrawals, but NEVER use it to purchase.

Not using a good reward CC is losing out on thousands of dollars in benefits over time

Even if you don't use one for rewards, giving a business direct access to your bank account is an act of stupidity. Amazing that people around here will shell out money for travel insurance "just in case", yet leave themselves exposed to much worse financial peril by using a debit card...

  3. Oasis and Allure are some of the earliest debarking ships….I have made as early as 8:30am flights off them….self debarkation usually starts around 6:30 am….HOWEVER…that is not a guaranty.

It's as close to one as there is. I have yet to hear of a single incident where early debarkation was delayed on either ship. Not once...

  4. I am sure Windjammer is lovely, will probably eat there a fair bit as I am not really a formal person & this dressing for dinner will lose its appeal fast I'm sure.

Clothing is not optional for dinner in the Windjammer. If you want to dine "au natural", you'll have to do that in your stateroom...

  5. The "BEST" place to eat lunch on day 1? On shore at one of many great restaurants. I always prefer to eat lunch before embarking. Last chance to get fresh seafood for a while! Much more enjoyable than standing in line at Park Cafe or fighting the mob in the Windjammer.

Might be a little more cost prohibitive with seven though...

  6. The transfers are with the cruise company

I'm a little confused. The transfers are with the cruise line, yet you're arriving in the evening. Obviously you're not going to the ship. Are you flying in the day before? If so, then you've got plenty of time and it's not an issue. Am I missing something?

  7. They're certainly not present in every restaurant that I've ever been in. Obviously things are different for you but for the majority of people often the first time they've ever seen a Freestyle machines is aboard the ship - they are rare for most people.

I like them not only for the flavors, but the convenience - no waiting in line at a bar to just get a soda refill. And the bars don't have Coke Zero which is what we all drink - the machines do.

We literally all cheered when we were picking up our soda cups at embarkation and heard that the Freestyles had made it aboard. RCI instantly picked up an extra 4 or 5 pass sales right at that moment as if it hadn't been for the machines there was quite a few in our group of 12 that weren't going to buy a pass this time after having been spoiled by the machines over our last many cruises. :)

That's interesting. Yes, around here, it seems they are in most every fast food establishment (McDonalds, BK, Five Guys...).

  8. I do know on Allure Ken Rush was annoyed by people walking out and would call them out

I do believe I would be rather offended if one of those useless cruise director windbags tried to embarrass me in front of a crowd. The best thing a cruise director can ever do is sit down and shut up. Cruising would be enhanced without them. Are there really so many people that can't figure out how to enjoy themselves without some nitwit cheerleader spoon feeding them all day long?

  9. I think the only person with an issue about this is the OP.

Seriously, we're talking about shows on a cruise ship. This ain't exactly Broadway. It's not that people are rude or entitled, it's that it's a show.... on a CRUISE SHIP! You expect me to act and behave as I would at a high-caliber theatrical presentation? Fine, whenever I'm at one, I'll do just that. But nothing on a cruise ship ever qualifies.
