  1. On Feb 23 we are going from Miami to Montreal with a stop in Atlanta. It will take double the amount of time to come back. There are many direct flights that day with AA, Air Canada and West Jet.

Oh...we have a notice from Oceania stating that we may use their Air Deviation.

Did they choose a bad return flight on purpose ? They want us to pay money for Air Deviation? We flew the day before the embarkation but we did not pay for Air Deviation because we booked one night hotel pre cruise with O cost a lot of $$$

Last year we flew with Regent Seven Seas and we were happy with their schedule with AA.

  2. LoveChops, I forgot to mention that we took this same cruise two years ago, and we absolutely loved it. The itinerary was wonderful, the passengers congenial, and it really was one of the best vacations we've ever had. We'd love to go again. I hope you have a wonderful time!

After the cruise, we rented a car one-way to drive home to Syracuse, as it was so much cheaper than flying, and actually quicker for us. However, I want to caution you again about renting a car and touring yourselves. The traffic can be pretty unforgiving. Once we were out of the city, we were ok. But, if I had been a cat, I think I lost a few of my nine lives that day maneuvering through the city. Just my two cents....:)

I live in Montreal and when we have to go somewhere we never know how long it will take because there is a lot of work in progress in the streets.

  3. We have stayed in 10020 and 10030 on Riviera and there is definitely more noise in the one nearer the elevator. We noticed more people talking than further down the corridor. If I had a choice, I would definitely move to a quieter part of the ship, especially bearing in mind the OP is not going until Nov 15.

Thank you for your advice. I will see with my TA to cancel this stateroom for another one. We pay a lot of money for this PH and I do not want to be bother by people talking around the elevators.

  4. We were in that exact cabin on Riviera in April.

We heard plenty...people talking as they walked to the elevator, people talking and laughing as they waited for/got off the elevator, even some idiot yelling from the elevator lobby to his friends down the hall. We were wakened nightly by something.

We asked if we could change rooms, would even move to a non PH, it was so bad.

The ship was full, and no where to go.

I wrote on my comment card that a gentle reminder in Currents, to please consider in early AM and late PM, that you are walking past bedrooms, would be nice.

They do remind people about not saving deck chairs, to no avail sometimes, but a gentle reminder might make some be more considerate in the hallways. Just as, when I read on CC about people closing their cabin doors softly, rather than letting them slam shut behind them, it became a habit for us.

Also, when the cabin door of 10032 was open, direct view from elevator lobby into cabin...had to be careful!

Thank you for your response. I think I will try to change this Ph for another one if it is possible. We have time because we will cruise in Nov 2015.

  5. What visa service does Regent use? I was reading on the Crystal board that some haven't gotten their passports back that they sent in in August. Crystal recommends Pinnacle. Who does Regent recommend?

I know the problem could be with the Brazilian Consulate, but was curious who Regent recommends.

    Thanks

Depends on where you live. Last July I went to Brazilian Consulate in Montreal with the form completed (find on their web site) the photo and passport and 10 days later I have received my docs and visa. So easy when you live near the Consulate

  6. We rely on ATMs for getting foreign currency abroad. Traveler's Checks are a hassle to cash/use, the exchange rate onboard and at hotels is not good, and ATMs are everywhere.

Our Amex has no foreign transaction fees.

We take two ATM cards tied to two different accounts just in case. We can only draw from checking accounts and not savings when abroad so we make sure the cash is in the correct accounts before we leave or move it around if we need more.

We have an Amex Gold Card and I did not know that they don't charge fees for transaction. Do you mean no commission

  7. I have never had a problem on Oceania asking for a small taste size portion of something or choosing the piece of chicken or whatever in the buffet line

But that is just my experience ..others my differ

I much prefer the staff to serve the food than have people's grubby paws touching things JMO

The rolls are selfserve & have witnessed people picking up one with their hands then deciding on another & returning the other to the pile

    YUCK

    YMMD

I totally agree. I sailed with Regent and Oceania and I really appreciate the way that Oceania'staff served us at the Buffet
