  1. If the times arent available online, would they be available when getting on the ship the first day and making them for all week? Thanks. Im worried. I have 12 family members already booked and possibly up to 18. Im the only planner. Early seating is too early for my family and late too late for my sister. Hopeinf for 7ish.

    Thank you.

With that large of a group perhaps you should give Royal a callure to see if they can accommodate you.

  2. Just back from an Alaskan cruise on the Explorer of the Seas. I have done 4 Caribbean cruises on Norwegian and my gallery has cruised Alaska on Holland. We both enjoyed the cruise very much. I had always wanted to visit Alaska and to try Royal. Alaska was beautiful, the weather cooperated, and it was great.

I enjoyed the ship. I had choosen "My Time" dining a day had trouble getting into the MD the first two evenings. The reservations line was always busy, and an early excursion departure made it hard to reserve a time before 8 in the evening, way too often late for these old folks. A visit to the customer service desk solved the problem and for the rest of the cruise I needed no reservations to walk into the MDR. Excellent customer service. At first this soured me on RC as dining on Norwegian was never a problem -ever. No reservations, or main settings, etc. Royal has a different system, although I prefer the no hassle Norwegian system, the RC system is fine once I understood it. Plus the meals in the MDR were excellent! We tried to eat there all three meals when ever possible.

The buffet was good and the selection seemed to be greater than I remember on Norwegian.

I really like dedicated the design of the Explorer better then the Norwegian Dawn I sailed previously. I love the Promenade and the solarium was nice on this cooler weather cruise.

I already mentioned the great customer service. I used to manage a Conference Center and when I retired I worked in airline customer relations. It simply amazes me what the crew of this vessel does. I could relate story after story of the wonderful service I received.

    Now to the ????? part.

The reason I sailed Norwegian 4 times is their Next Cruise experience and offer. They had an office you went into with friendly staff and booklets and videos of all of the ships, itinerarys, excursions, etc. All you needed to do was to put a $200.00 deposit down on a future cruise, didn't need to actually choose the cruise then, and you would get $200.00 on board or credit off your next cruise. You had a two year time to choose the cruise. I could find out all the info I needed.

So, we head into the Next Cruise area on the Explorer. One's frowning gal behind one of the desks, no one else in the area. Can we ask you about a future cruise? I ask. She grunts yes. Now, I had been talking with other passengers about the other RC ships, and I want to know more about the Oasis class ships. We don't have any of that information, she says, we used to have books but we don't now. ????? Ok, what itineraries do those class of ships sail? She asks, did you pick up a brochure? No..., she sighs, gets up, walks over to some slots on the wall, and brings back two copies of sheets with names of ships and their sailing dates. No other info on them. Finally, out of frustration I start asking her what ships are Quantum class, I havedon't to ask here name by name. I pried enough info from her to finally ask about a 2018 Caribbean cruise on the Harmony. She worked on here computer for a while, quotes us about $2000.00 for a 7 day, that includes a "$600.00" discount for booking onboard. I asked her if i could apply the $200.00 discount i had recieved from the Casino, and she said, "I know nothing of these things"??????? Told her I would think about it.

Today, I priced that cruise on the RC site. Same cruise and cabin, about $1,400.00.?????? RC, this was a huge FAIL on your part. I came ready to book, and I did not.

Now, despite that, interesting, way of marketing future cruise, I loved RC, and will certainly sail temperature again. I really do want to try one of their bigger ships.

  3. This thread seems confusing.

There are TWO different offers being talked about here. One if from the Bon Voyage section on NCL.com. This offers $20 of slot play for $10.

    http://www2.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/bon-voyage-gifts

The other is from slotplaycoupons.com. They offer $50 slot play for $25.

These are both really good deals and if you are going to play the slot machines you should take advantage of them.

  4. Airplane mode overrides wifi settings and turns it off regardless of your wifi setting. There should be a setting to turn off the cellular network by itself.

This is true and I should have indicated that. However, after you have put the phone in airplane mode you can turn the wifi back on. That is how I do it anyway because it is easier for me with the toggle switch widget.

I actually found the widget by pressing on my phones screen where I wanted the icon to be and choosing widgets and the the toggles. Very easy to do. Actually I would bet that there is a free app or widget that does this very thing in one icon push.

  5. Anyone know how to leave Wi-Fi on yet turn off the cellular connection on an Android phone? Considering taking my iPad since it doesn't have an active cellular contract but would prefer my Android phone.

Put the phone in airplane mode which turns the cellular radio off and leave the wifi on. You should be able to access from your "settings."

There is also an app that puts little "switches" on your screen to make all of this easy to do. I have mine on my first screen left.

  6. I was on Epic last week and used this new app. The wifi is a very limited availbilty only for the specifics of this app. It is not used for any other app or features on your phone. The message section is only to send messages to your cabin TV and receive messages from NCL. It does not communicate between any other phones.

The app is advertised to let you communicate with others who have the app on their phones. ?????
