  1. Not sure if you're solo or not, but there were some books in the studio lounge when I was on there. Since I had brought a couple of books of my own, I didn't really look at the selection too closely, but I'm sure I saw some fiction and nonfiction in there. :)

  2. You're pretty close to me if your husband was at Bank of America stadium!

I really hope this all works out for you and the ID is found... or the new one comes quickly. Looking forward to your post saying that all went on without a hitch!

Btw, I just wanted to say that people who are assuming your husband wasn't helping may have been going by your earlier post saying that he was sleeping like a baby while you were pulling your hair out. I don't think they were intentionally calling your husband a bum. haha

  3. Lucky ducks!

I'm going to miss him being on the Epic in January (unless he's coming back? Who took his place on the Epic? ...guess that's another thread!). I saw him twice on the Epic in November. Once up close and personally in the Studio Lounge and then we went to see his show in the Epic Theatre later in the week. He's awesome! :D

  4. Hey there!

I'm Deanna (pronounced 'deena') and I'll be sailing solo on the Norwegian Epic at the end of January 2014. I'll be in one of the studios and I can't wait! I was in a studio in November 2012 and loved it so much that I'm doing it a second time.

We already have a few solos posting on our roll call thread, but I figured it couldn't hurt to post here, too, and see if maybe there are others out there who just haven't posted in the other roll call yet. Can't wait to meet everyone! :)

  5. There was a great pianist/singer at Shaker's on the Epic last year.

We were waiting to go into the ice bar and just people watching downstairs and such... and I started just randomly kind of dancing a little to the music from Shaker's... and the pianist must have seen me and was like "shake it, girl!" or something. So my friend and I then had to dance even more, all while laughing. I got the biggest kick out of that. XD

  6. My friend and I just booked this excursion for our St. Maarten stop in November. I'm so excited. I can't wait! :D

Not sure how necessary it is to book early, but... since there's such a limited number of spots available, I didn't want to risk waiting and booked our spots a couple of days after I found out about him.

  7. That is definitely true. The ship's purifiers are actually better than most of the companies that bottle water have in their plants. I never haul any bottles on board. Too much of a headache and the water always tasted better than the plastic taste of bottled water. The MOST I do is take empty throw away water bottles and packets of lemonade mix. Iced tea can be easily gotten but not lemonade. :)

That's what I'm considering doing... buying a box or two of those "Kool-aid singles" to mix in with water for when I want something sweeter than water. You can get a box (12 packets) for around $2-3 here, and I figure that 12 little packets of Kool-Aid is a lot lighter to carry than a few cases of soda cans. :P

At first, I considered buying the soda package... until I did the math. There's no way I'd drink enough soda to break even, let alone to be saving any money. It's around $50 for the card, if I remember correctly... and the sodas are $2 a can bought individually... so the card is basically like pre-paying for 25 sodas. On a 7 day cruise. That's 3-4 cans of soda per day, just to break even on the "package". That's a lot of caffeine and empty calories! I don't even really watch things like that... I just know that I don't drink nearly that many sodas on a regular basis. XD

I do enjoy a nice cold soda every once in a while, but I am just as happy drinking juice or tea (or even water, if that's all that was available). So if I just have to have a soda, I'll pay the $2 for one. Even if I have a soda with lunch every day, that would still only be $14 total compared to $50. And I doubt I'll drink even that much. If I were a big soda drinker, I'd definitely bring a case or two of sodas onto the ship with me rather than buy a soda card.

Correct me if my line of thinking is incorrect. I'm just going based off of the prices that I've read on the NCL site and here on CC. :)

  8. Thanks for the reply, albeit a month late. lol

I didn't mention "which airline I prefer to fly on" because I've never flown before. So I don't have a preference, I was just asking a general question regarding flying. If I had flown before, I'd likely know the ropes and wouldn't have been asking such questions. :P

My cruise leaves on a Saturday, so unless I go a few days beforehand (which isn't possible, since I only get one week's vacation from work), my flight would have to be on Friday.

I have already purchased my tickets, though, so none of this is an issue for me any longer.

Again, thanks for the reply. :)

  9. I have a newbie question.

I am going to be cruising on the NCL Epic November 10-17th of this year (woo!) and I have been looking at rates for flights leaving from Charlotte, NC to Miami, FL. I have read that it's risky to fly the day of, so I have been looking for flights in the late afternoon/early evening of November 9th (as of right now, I am planning to work until 5 PM, but I may see if I can get that Friday off or at least leave early).

When I first booked my cruise, I found a flight that worked well (leaving Charlotte at 7:55 pm nonstop to Miami, arriving at 9:55 pm) for around $350. Was advised by various people who have flown before that prices go down closer to the date of the flight and that I should wait until later in the year to book my flight. I have been keeping an eye on the rates, though, and that same flight is now showing a higher price. Eep.

Do I have cause to be concerned? Or were friends correct in saying that prices will go down closer to departure day?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks. :)
