Anyone been on the Norwegian Dawn?
any idea re men only steam and sauna area?
I was on it in 2022 and they were still there. They kept sending female attendants in every half hour to check the temps until I finally complained.

Anyone joining Queen Victoria in December 2023??
I’m on the Queen Victoria now. It’s the first day onboard and I went to the sauna already. It’s a good sized one in the men’s locker room and free. It was pretty quiet in there.

Celebrity has good clean sauna and showers in locker rooms.
I'm on the Equinox right now (until in the morning) and the locker room is clean. There are three showers and the sauna was well used the entire cruise. Today there was a line waiting on showers.

The Norwegian Dawn underwent a refurbishment in 2021. I believe these pictures and information are outdated regarding the Dawn.
I was on in 2022 and it looked like this.

Hi
Looking at booking Norwegian Dawn
Great deals atm
Is there a free sauna in the men's changing rooms?
I was on the Dawn in 2022 and a female attendant kept coming in the men's area every half hour or so to check the temps on the steam and sauna. Sometimes they would announce themselves and walk on in or sometimes not. That would never happen with a man going into the women's area to check.

Do these have steam also??
No. The free area is only a sauna. There is a coed steam in the spa.

Just came back from a cruise with MSC Virtuosa and wanted to report that they have a free single sex sauna with 2 showers within the gym changing room. It was very quiet during the entire cruise because very few guests including regular gym goers knew about the changing room/sauna as it is not clearly labelled.
The Meraviglia is just like this.

Has anyone checked out MSC? I cannot tell anything from the deck plans of their ships if they have men's only sauna/steam?
I was on the Meraviglia last spring. The main steam and sauna are coed and you have to pay. The gym has a locker room with a medium size sauna in it. That's the one I spent my time in.

Yup, there is the coed area with sauna and steam room in the mens and womens change room.
When I was on the Dawn in March, a female attendant came in the men's only area every hour (or more) to check the temp of the steam and sauna. Sometimes she would announce her presence and other times not. Many times naked guys were surprised by her. I wrote a letter of complaint to Norwegian and never heard back. They would never allow a male to go in the women's area.

Has anyone been on NCL Dawn recently? I’m wondering if the Men’s sauna and steamrooms are operational again in the Thermal Spa Suite. Thanks in advance!
I just got off the Dawn. Everything is working. But it was sparsely attended. I did have a complaint. A female staff would come in about every hour to check the temp on the steam and sauna. Sometimes she would announce herself and sometimes not. I was caught quite naked several times. That should not be allowed. They would NEVER allow a male attendant to walk into the ladies room.

Has anyone considered whether small enclosed spaces in a cruise ship such as the sauna and steamroom will be considered unsafe and closed for a period of time when cruises resume?
I hope not. That's one of the reasons I cruise. I enjoy my time in there.

If you look back to post 646, I did a review of the Norwegian Dawn layout back in Oct, 2017. Don't think there has been a change since then. No free area, but nice, rather compact single sex areas in addition to a co-ed section.
Thanks. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm sailing on the Norwegian Dawn in March. Do I have to buy the spa package to use the single sex steam and sauna? I will if I have to, but don't want to!
I'm sailing solo, so I'll have lots of time to kill in the sauna/steam.

I did a ship inspection of the Nieuw Statendam today (I work in the travel industry). There is a medium sized locker room with a bathroom and sinks. There is a sauna and two showers. Surprisingly, there are no doors on the shower stalls. In the paid spa area, there is a men's and women's sauna that looks out to the sea. Not sure if you have to wear a bathing suit there.

Sad and silly to hear about the bathing suit required signs posted on the Jade. I will stick to wrapping a towel around when I walk and sit on it in sauna, maybe one covering my lap just to satisfy the prudes.
My last cruise on the Gem there were no signs but will see if they are on her as well my next Gem cruise in November.
Last Gem cruise there were no signs but 90% of all guys wore trunks anyway. Me and one other guy sat on towels, another couple guys would wrap towels tightly, everyone dressed for the pool!
I got several odd looks walking from shower area to the sauna nude while carrying a towel to sit on and one around my neck for perspiration. I am used to gym locker where everyone is nude (or maybe has a towel) from the moment they head from locker to shower to sauna/steam and back again
The Gem sauna was nice but boring, great place to just think in silence as rarely anyone there and when there was another guest(s) using the facility there was no chatting/small talk etc over the entire 11 or 12 day cruise. Guys would keep to themselves in awkward silence. Wasn't until the final night, in the free steam room in the gym locker did I bump into a nice gent and finally got to relax and enjoy a friendly chat.Hoping for the best for next Gem cruise!
Ontario, I'm like you. No bathing suits or towels (except to sit on). I'll never understand the prudishness of some, especially in same sex situations.

When are your next cruises? Would love to cruise when others that love the steam and sauna are as well.
I'm sailing of the Victory next Monday. I will be in the steam/sauna everyday -- morning and late afternoon. Hopefully there will be others to talk to in there. I'm sailing solo this time, so I'll be looking for conversation.
I'll be the one without a bathing suit on. I like to sweat all of my body!

Men's Spa Facilities on Cruise ships: Which ones do you think are the best?

I don’t remember slippers. I had them in my room for sure. They might have had robes in the lockers but I’m not sure. In any event, no one wore robes in the sauna.
