My husband and I took the ship's excursion through the canal only because my husband really wanted to do it ...and I do not ever want to do it again. Since the excursion used a small craft we had to wait for a larger ship to accompany us through the locks. I do not remember what time we left but it was very late when we returned...so late that the Lido was kept open for an extra hour so we could have dinner. It was a very long hot day...and in my opinion, if you've seen one lock, you've seen them all. With that being said, if the Ship I was on went through to the west coast, I would totally do that.

Can you use texting on the "surf" plan...can you access any web sites? We would have no use for the streaming on the premium so was wondering about the surf plan.

We have always used Hal's PCC for booking and they have been wonderful. We have been given advise on various cruises, ships, dates, cabins, etc. Always had questions answered quickly. Wonderful service.

If you have a Delta Visa card, you can make use of the Delta Lounge at the airport for, I think, around $25/person. They do have snack and breakfast items but not a hot made to order breakfast, a bar and coffee bar available, comfortable seating, and places to recharge electronics, and maybe free wifi (not absolutely sure about that). It was well worth the $$ when we had long waits for the flight back home!

If they offer the Sel de Mer dinner in the Pinnacle one night it is absolutely the best! Also another vote for Tamarind. We've had hit or miss dinners in the Pinnacle...more hit than miss.

Take a look at this site: http://www.tomsportguides.com and click on choices at the top of the page. There are various touring guides with pictures of many New England/Canadian ports.

We were seated their at table for 2 (our request when we booked fixed dining) and had terrific service. Enjoyed meeting and talking with the people at the other tables but still had privacy when we wanted...so much so that we all exchanged email addresses (which my husband lost) and took a group photo.

We have booked transfer from Newark to ship with Holland America for September cruise. Wondering how long the wait generally is for the transfer to leave Newark and how long the trip is to the port? Does the bus stop along the way or is it straight from the airport to the port?

Do either Oli's Trolleys or Arcadia National Park Tours pick up at the port?

We arrive on a Sunday and according to the website for Acadia National Park Tours, they've only got 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM tours now. The 10:00 one is the only option, given that we depart at 3:00 PM. My question is this - given that our port day is on a Sunday, would shops be open prior to 10:00 AM? We arrive at 7:00 AM and I'm thinking that maybe we could walk around town and shop a little before the 10:00 AM tour begins. There wouldn't be much time left at all at the end of the tour.
The schedule also states that there may be more times when cruise ships are in...I'm hoping for an earlier one too!

There may be the possibility of four reasons for the later departure. One: as you mentioned. Two: other traffic in New York Harbor and/or the attraction of leaving at dusk. Three: a larger number of overseas passengers with later arrivals to NYC. MSC does this in Miami leaving at 19:00. Four: distance to Boston.
I am sure that boarding would commence in early afternoon as usual. That would also mean that the lifeboat drill would be held mid-afternoon before Early Seating, not just prior to sailing .
According to the ship itinerary, it is arriving from Europe that morning so I suspect that the inspection would be the most likely reason.

Sept. NewEngland/Canada cruise on Zuiderdam. Posted sailing time is 8 p.m. Research tells me it is probably because ship arriving from Europe and will need inspection and that will cause a delay in boarding. Can anyone tell me what time (how long) the delay might be, approximately what time we might be able to board? Would we be able to leave luggage at the port since we have an early morning flight and go into town rather than sitting in the port terminal all day? (I like to worry about things ahead of time LOL).

We have waitlisted twice and been called each time. Just be aware it can be very last minute! One call was received at 4:30 p.m. the day before the sailing. Price offers were good and we were given a couple of cabin choices.

I take a carton of Diet Coke on board.

I always cruise with my friend Meclizine!

What has happened to the Pride of America board? Is anyone able to access it?

Ship is overnight in Maui.

Is it possible to disembark from cruise ship at 8:00, get a rental car, drive the road to Hana and then go to Haleakala to view the sunset? I'm thinking the answer is no and my husband is hoping the answer is yes...
-
NCL site says arrival in Maui is 7 a.m. How early can you disembark? We would like to rent a car and drive the road to Hana and would like to leave as early as possible.

Haven't been on the Westerdam but love the Eurodam! We like the cabanas by the pool (not the retreat cabanas) and spend most of our time there. They are also close to the Lido but if you rent a cabana the cabana stewards will bring you anything you need! If you want a cabana, I suggest you book it when you book your cruise. We also like the Tamarind and the Pinnacle Grill restaurants.

Sailing Feb. 8th on Eurodam and was wondering what/who the current shows/enterainment/entertainers are.
Which ships have a Gelato bar?
in Holland America Line
Posted
I loved the Gelato bar on the Rotterdam....one of my favorite desserts and well located for a dessert after the dive-in hamburger! Much prefer it to ice cream. We are going on the Nieuw Amsterdam in March and wondering if they
have one or serve it somewhere else on the ship!
